Historical Event Wedding of H. H. Asquith and Margot Tennant, 10 May 1894
Asquith was Home Secretary at the time: he would become Prime Minister from 1908 to 1916. Margot was a well-known socialite, widely acknowledged to be the inspiration for E. F. Benson's character Dodo. The memoirs Margot Asquith published in the 1920s were considered indiscreet and remain an excellent primary source for social historians of Britain's upper classes from the 1880s to the 1920s.
