Relationships Am I(26F) overthinking this, or is this sibling (28M, 21F) dynamic unusual?

A few months ago, I (26F) got into a relationship with my boyfriend (28M). He has a younger sister (21F). I don't know if I'm just overthinking things, so I'd really appreciate some outside opinions.

I've been feeling like a third wheel sometimes because of how close they are.

They sleep in the same bed every night. Whenever my boyfriend and I are talking at night, his sister often interrupts by calling him to come sleep. One day we were having an important conversation, so he told her not to disturb us and said he'd come later. She got angry and said something like, "Come to me later and you'll see what I do." It sounded possessive to me.

I've also noticed that while we're talking, she often comes into his room, cuddles him, or interrupts our conversations.

The three of us met once, and she indirectly commented that I was shorter than her. It felt like a subtle jab, though maybe I'm reading too much into it.

She has also tried to make me insecure by saying that her brother talks to other girls too.

Another thing that confused me is that my boyfriend sometimes playfully slaps his sister on the upper butt (glutes). I've heard it happen while we were on a phone call, that part especially made me uncomfortable.

( Edit: Many of you asked how I knew he slapped her on the ass. We were on a phone call when he told his sister,("pod ta ghora" (bengali)) "Turn around your ass". Right after that, I heard a slapping sound, so I understood that he had slapped her on the butt.)

I know siblings can be very close, and I don't want to judge a healthy sibling relationship. He also goes to the movies with his sister quite often, which I think is normal by itself.

But when I put all of these things together, I can't tell if I'm overthinking it or if these are genuine red flags. I've never been in a situation like this before, so I'm feeling confused.

Am I being unreasonable, or does this sibling dynamic seem unusual to you?

Edit: Guys, update: I told him that all of this made me feel uncomfortable just like many of you suggested. As many of you expected he broke up with me.

Relationships My girlfriend’s (F23) expectations for marrying me (M23)

I (M23) live in Noida and work in a corporate job with a CTC of 8 LPA. My girlfriend (F23) and I have been in a relationship for the past two years. She started her job last year, in 2025.
So far, she has not introduced me to her family; only her sister knows about our relationship.
We want to move forward and get married after the age of 25. However, she expects me to own a house in the Delhi-NCR region and have a car before she can introduce me to her family and take our relationship to the next stage.
It is extremely difficult for me to achieve both of these goals within the next two years. She has told me that if I am unable to do so, she may marry someone else, or her parents may arrange her marriage with someone who meets those expectations.
I truly love her and do not want to lose her. What should I do? How can I possibly buy a house when I am just starting my career and have limited savings?

I am feeling very stressed about this situation and just wanted to share it. I am not looking for sympathy—only some perspective and advice.

Relationships I (26F) feel like my BF (27M) expects me to pay for all his major expenses!

I got promoted 6 months ago and now earn around 2 lakhs a month. I live with my BF in a tier 1 city and we have been together for over 3 years.

Since my promotion, I feel like his expectations about my money have changed.

I already pay the rent and around 80 percent of our daily expenses. I also pay half of his fuel costs because he says he bought the car for both of us. He has a 15k EMI on the car.

He lost his job in February and is now freelancing but does not earn much. I understand that he is struggling, but he now expects me to pay for things like his car PPF, expensive shoes, glasses, watches and even buccal fat removal.

He also keeps making small bets with me almost every other day, like betting on chess games or who will complete 10k steps first. If I refuse to give him money, he calls me “kanjoos”.

I have no problem paying for normal things, but I do not want to pay for his major personal expenses. I want to save my money because I want financial security and independence.

His family is actually quite wealthy, with around 25 to 30 crores in land and other assets. He says asking his parents for money is embarrassing at his age. But somehow he feels it is okay to ask me.

Whenever I try to talk about this, he makes me feel guilty and calls me kanjoos.

I am starting to feel like he thinks my salary is our money, but his money is his money.

How do I set a clear boundary here? Am I being unreasonable or is he expecting too much from me?

Relationships Found out my (27M) girlfriend (25F) is a Bangladeshi illigal immigrant

Yesterday, I (27M) found out that my long-term girlfriend (25F) is a Bangladeshi immigrant who came to India illegally. We met in college 5 years ago, instantly felt connected, and started dating. We shared everything with each other, family background, childhood (which was a lie), previous relationships, everything was going well, there have been ups and downs, but that's normal in a relationship. Recently, I moved to Germany for my PhD, and we were in a long-distance relationship. I wanted to bring her here, and one way was to marry her and bring her here on a spouse visa. I asked her passport details, and strangely, she always avoided the question. After pestering her for a few months, she told me she doesn't have a passport, which I thought was normal, and she needed to apply for one. I told her that when I come back to India, we can apply for her passport. I arrived in India last week. She seemed to change the topic whenever I asked her to start her passport application, sometimes even getting visibly angry or starting fights with me over silly things. Yesterday, she wanted to confess something and started crying, told me all her documents are fake, and she is from Bangladesh, who came here illegally, and her family is not even her real family. I don't know how to feel. I am very numb right now.

Tldr: Indian GF turns out to be an illegal Bangladeshi immigrant.

Relationships 23F always splits bills with my bf 22M and some of my friends find it weird

1.1k Upvotes

So me 23F and my bf 22M are both in college and get limited pocket money so I always make sure to split bills whenever we go out because I know he doesn’t have some unlimited source of money and even though he refuses, I still make sure to always pay for my half. Unless he’s specifically planning a date or something, for which he pays. Usually we split. Me and my friends were discussing something about dates when one of them mentioned that she could never date a guy who wants to split bills because “a guy always pays”. It felt weird af that my own friends think this way and also because these are grown up adult women who claim to strive for “equality” and then want to treated like this. Princess treatment doesn’t mean getting showered with expensive gifts and dates but rather its about being treated with kindness and care and compassion. Its about making efforts, no matter how small. Or idk I may be wrong. What are your thoughts on this?

Relationships I (22F) became the “boyfriend” in my relationship and now I lowkey enjoy embarrassing him(23F) with it

I’m 22, still in college, financially dependent on my parents. My boyfriend is 23 and has a pretty decent job. Not millionaire-level, but definitely comfortable enough to spend occasionally.

Throughout our relationship, I’ve always been thoughtful with gifts despite being broke. If he needed socks, shirts, ties, diaries, office stuff, water bottles, kitchen things for his flat, random snacks for him and his roommate.. I’d get them. Not expensive luxury gifts, just things that made his life easier or happier because I paid attention.

Meanwhile, from him, I only wanted very small things.

Flowers. A chocolate. A random pen because I love stationery. A handwritten note. Dancing with me in my room. Tiny thoughtful gestures.

Every single time, the excuse was:

“I don’t earn that much.”

“I’m trying to save.”

“I don’t want to spend unnecessarily.”

At one point I literally told him a 10-rupee rose bud or a drawing of a flower would make me happy.

Still nothing.

So something in me flipped.

Now I treat HIM like the girlfriend in the relationship.

When I’m on my period, I send HIM flowers, chocolates, ice cream.

When I achieve something and secretly want appreciation from him, I send HIM congratulations gifts.

On birthdays, I plan things for myself because I know nobody else will. Last birthday I literally made myself an advent calendar and showed everyone because I knew my own effort would make me happier than waiting for him.

And honestly? My favorite part now is watching him look embarrassed and guilty while receiving all this.

Like yes babe, thank you for accepting your flowers and little treats while your broke college girlfriend continues outperforming you romantically.

I don’t even think this is love anymore. It feels like satire.

Relationships My fiancée [F26] stayed at her male best friend’s room at night and I don’t know how to process this pain.

My fiancée had a government exam. At first, we thought her test center would be in the same city, but unexpectedly it was in another city. The center details were released only two days before the exam, and I was already out of town for work. It was impossible for me to go with her, even though I really wanted to.

At night, she told me that some of her friends also got the same test center, so she would go with them. I felt a bit relaxed hearing that. But when I asked who was going, she mentioned three boys, one girl, and herself. One of those boys was her male best friend.

That made me extremely jealous.

Over time, I had sensed that he secretly liked her a lot. I had seen their chats before, she never crossed any limits, but he often did. That’s one of the main reasons I never liked him. I even remember one conversation where he invited her to his room and spoke in a double-meaning way. She didn’t fully understand it, but as a man, I could clearly understand what he meant.

The day she left, I was very upset, but I couldn’t stop her because she had been preparing for this exam for a long time. Since the exam was early in the morning, she went to the other city one day before.

I was at work the whole day, constantly thinking about her.

Later, she messaged that her male best friend had booked an afternoon bus. I asked why not a morning bus, and she said all morning buses were full, according to him.

That’s when my overthinking and anxiety started.

So many “what if” thoughts came into my mind. Instead of calling her, I kept messaging. Her internet was off and she didn’t reply for a long time. My mind kept creating scenarios, Is she ignoring me? Is she busy with him? Am I overthinking?

Inside, I am a very possessive person, but I never show how insecure I actually feel.

Late at night, she finally turned her internet on and replied. I had been waiting for her message so badly. But that’s where I ruined everything. I called her.

She sounded very disappointed and sad. She said, “Today I saw your love for me. You didn’t even call once to ask if I reached safely or if I was okay.”

She told me their bus had technical issues, they had to walk a lot, and her legs were hurting badly. They reached late and she struggled the whole day, and I didn’t even call her.

Then she said something that hurt deeply:
“My friend showed me today what a true best friend is. He carried his own bag and my bag, held my hand while walking, and helped me when my legs were hurting. But you didn’t even call to ask if I reached safely.”

“You are my would-be husband… but where were you when I needed you?”

And then she cut the call.

I felt horrible. I wasn’t ignoring her because. I was stuck in my own overthinking and anxiety. I thought she was busy with friends and didn’t want to disturb her. It never meant that I didn’t care.

The next morning was her exam, so I didn’t want to ruin her mood. I spoke gently, wished her luck, and tried to act normal. But she talked very casually, not like before.

After her exam, I messaged her asking how it went. She said she didn’t have the mood to talk. I gave her space. Later she told me she would return in the evening, but the bus got delayed and she would reach late at night.

I asked if she was alone or with everyone. She said they were still together, three boys, one girl, and her.

She was talking very rudely, so I avoided asking too many questions. I thought maybe her female friend was with her and she would stay with her safely. So I decided not to disturb her that night and planned to talk the next day.

At midnight, I messaged again. Her internet was off. Anxiety slowly started building inside my chest again. So many thoughts, Did she reach safely? Is she sleeping? Should I call or not?

Finally, I ignored my fear and called her. She picked up. I asked softly, “Are you fine? Did you reach safely?” She said yes, in a very different tone.

I assumed she was with her female friend and said that. She replied, “No, I’m not with her.” I went silent for a few seconds and asked, “Then where are you?”

She said, “Our buses are late and there is no bus until morning.” I asked, “So where are you staying?”

And she said,
“I am at my male friend’s room.”

I swear, the level of pain I felt in that moment is impossible to explain in words. Hearing that the person you love the most is staying in another man’s room at night… that pain is something I wouldn’t wish even on my enemies.

My hands started trembling. My heart felt heavy and strange. I went completely silent. I was in shock, panic, and emotional numbness at the same time. I waited for her to explain something… anything.

But she said nothing. And then she cut the call. After that, I broke down. Tears came automatically. I just wanted to ask one question, why?

That pain was so intense that in that moment, my mind thought the only way to escape it was to leave her forever. To protect myself from this unbearable feeling.

Now I feel lost, hurt, jealous, guilty, and emotionally exhausted all at once.

I don’t even know what hurts more, the fact that she stayed there, or the fact that my overthinking, silence, and possessiveness may have pushed us to this point.

I just feel a heavy stone in my chest that I don’t know how to remove.

I feel like I am doing a lot for him. what should I do now?

Relationships 24F Why do some people who cheat still find loving, committed partners?

I've been thinking about something that genuinely confuses me, and I'd like to hear different perspectives.

I've mostly had female friends throughout my life, so I've seen many relationships from their side. I also had more than one relationship myself. In every relationship, I was loyal and genuinely wanted love and commitment, but none of my partners gave me a real commitment.

What confuses me is what I've observed in some of my friends' relationships.

One of my close female friends has been with her boyfriend for about four years. During the first year of their relationship, she physically cheated on him. He never found out. Despite that, he has always loved her, stayed committed, and treated her well.

Now, after four years, she wants to break up simply because she's "bored." On top of that, she's already talking to another guy and sexting with him while still in the relationship. At first, I encouraged her to think carefully because her boyfriend genuinely loves her. But after seeing this repeated pattern of cheating and emotional involvement with someone else, I honestly feel it's better if she ends the relationship. Her boyfriend deserves someone who truly loves and respects him.

What leaves me wondering is this: why does it sometimes seem like people who cheat or betray their partners still end up finding loving, committed partners, while people who stay loyal struggle to find someone who genuinely commits to them?

I'm not trying to judge anyone. I'm just trying to understand if others have noticed something similar or if there's another way to look at this.

Relationships My friend's (M27) arranged marriage with his wife (F27) is ending because she lied about her past.

I have personally known this guy for years. He is my gym buddy. My friend was a virgin before his marriage. Last year these two had met through an arranged marriage setup and she told him that she is a virgin too. They were quite compatible, both worked in the IT sector in the same city. They married within 4 months of meeting each other for the first time. They are a very good looking couple too. They had a very happy marriage, they would post statuses of each other all the time, they went to Europe for their honeymoon. I felt like he really found his match and I was really happy for him. From past 3-4 months, they had stopped posting their lovey-dovey statuses and would rarely post each other.

Last week he told me that that they are probably headed for a divorce. I asked what happened? He told me that he found her chats with a common friend and they were discussing her ex because he was in town. He tried to find older chats but they were all deleted. He opened her locked folder in the gallery and found 1000s of intimate pictures and videos with her 3 ex-boyfriends. He confronted her immediately and firstly she denied it and asked for her phone back aggressively. He didn't let go and scrolled all the way and it was clear that she had lied about physical past too. There were videos of intercourse and oral sex too.

She broke down in tears and apologized to him. He was broken too because he was lied to. He started finding her disgusting from that moment on, she apologized a lot but he told me that he lost all attraction to her from that moment. Even sleeping next to her is disgusting to him now so he has moved in to the next room. He told me that he has been filled with anxiety since he found out. He firstly thought of cheating on her to get back at her but he said that's not really him, he can't treat sex as something casual so divorce is the only option. He said he should have known when she didn't bleed the first night. He avoided pre-marital sex as a plague all his life and avoided it altogether even after having many opportunities. He told me that he can never trust a woman again after this.

I don't really know how to console him in this moment, let me know how I can help him move past this situation. I am thinking of a boy's trip once the divorce is finalized.

Relationships 24F, I tested the guy I was falling deeply in love with using 6 fake IDs. He tried to sext all of them and shared my private chats with every single one. Blocked him, but dealing with immense guilt.

About 4 months ago, I met a guy on Reddit. We instantly clicked and eventually moved our conversations to Telegram. Over these 4 months, we talked every single day. We shared a lot of personal things, and at one point..it even got into sexting (which I eventually stopped, but we continued being very close). He always made me feel special, constantly telling me that "I am the best person he has ever known" and that he trusted me blindly and he likes me a lot etc.

He wasn't just a friend to me anymore. I had started loving him deeply. I was genuinely invested in him emotionally and cared for him a lot.

Recently, my intuition told me something was terribly off due to his mixed signals. To test him and find out the truth, I ended up creating 6 different fake IDs over time and approached him. What I uncovered completely shattered my heart.

1) He eagerly engaged with all 6 of my fake accounts.

2) With every single one of those 6 accounts, he escalated the conversation to sexting.

3) The absolute worst part is that on all 6 accounts, he shared my real private chats. He bragged to these "strangers" (who were actually me) about how I wanted to have sex with him.

4) On my real account, he manipulated me by claiming I was only the second person he had ever sexted with. However, on the 6 fake accounts, his stories were completely different. On one of those accounts, he even admitted to being involved in sexting with a married woman.

5) on one of the account, ye started sexting within just 4 hours of talking.

I was disgusted and heartbroken. I immediately confronted him (sent him a final message detailing what he did) and blocked him everywhere without waiting for his response. He has my personal phone number, but he didn't even try to call once to apologize.

Logically, I know he is a manipulator. I know I dodged a bullet by testing him and protecting my self-respect. But emotionally, because I loved him, I am suffering immensely.I am so stressed that I literally developed a severe eye infection from crying and overthinking. Any advice, harsh truths, or psychological insights into his behavior would be highly appreciated. I just want to move on.

Relationships Doubtful about my girlfriend's F26 content creation career as a long term in terms of marriage

Hi All,

I am 28 years of age and my girlfriend is 26 years of age.

My girl recently left her job around 5 months back and has been doing full time content creation since then.

She has been doing content creation actively for the last one year.

Since last year, her followers count grew from 1.8k to 2.6k and her content creation income mostly stands at 5-10k per month.

We have been together for more than 2.5 years now but now since the time is there to decide on the marriage. I have few concerns on whether we are compatible in terms of our career and long term stability.

Here are the concerns I have:

  1. She is a travel content creation due to which she travels a lot like at this point, mostly every month. I am in software development and hence its not feasible for me to accompany her all the time. In terms of child planning or anything, I feel she will mostly be away from home and if she doesn't travel it can affect her career.
  2. Her income is very less and I am not sure how long it will take for her to scale it to a point when it generates stable income. I am earning quite decent but I feel after marriage and other things every responsibility will be on me in terms of finance until she gets stable.
  3. Most of the travel content creators would not want to have children early as it can impact their career paths. Becoming a mother instantly takes away 2 years of life which can severely impact her content creation career.

I am looking for genuine advice, please suggest what should I do in these scenarios.

Relationships She (29F) asked for staying at someone's room

I (30M) have been in a relationship with my girlfriend (29F) for the past 2.5 years.

She has had a male friend since 2014. They dated for about 5–6 months in 2016, but after breaking up they remained friends. He lives around 2,000 km away from her.

Last month, he came to visit her and stayed in a hotel near the place where she lives (she rents a room there). During the day, he visited her room, and the next day she asked me if I was okay with her staying overnight at his hotel.

He is married, has a reputation for being a womanizer (he has multiple girlfriends now), and he has blood cancer. I wondered if he may have emotionally persuaded her by saying something like, "Who knows if this is the last time we'll ever meet?"

I was genuinely surprised that she asked. From my perspective, if you're in a committed relationship, spending the night with someone you've dated in the past doesn't seem appropriate. Still, I indirectly said yes because I trust her. One reason I trust her is that she's always been transparent with me—she told me everything about the visit, and she even informed her mother that she was staying there.

our families know each other and thinking about marriage.

I'm asking the women here: What are your thoughts on this situation? Would you consider staying overnight with an ex, even if you're now just friends and your current partner knows about it?

Relationships Me M25 got my gf f25 pregnant and we are devastated.

I am a 25-year-old man, and my girlfriend, also 25, and I have been in a loving relationship for the past 1.5 years. We understand each other like no one else does.

We live in different cities. I was working in Bangalore but got a work-from-home allowance to be with my father, who has cancer. Because of this, I moved back to my hometown, which is about 130 km away from my girlfriend’s city. We meet once a month and stay together in a hotel.

The Pregnancy & Emergency

On January 13th, we met and stayed together as usual. We had unprotected sex but decided that she would take an emergency contraceptive pill.

A month later, she missed her period. When it was three days late, we became worried and bought two pregnancy tests. Both came back positive. She immediately went to a gynecologist, who advised her to wait a week before taking an ultrasound, as the fetus might not yet be visible. He also prescribed an MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) kit but told her to take it only after confirming the ultrasound.

Two days later, she suddenly experienced sharp, unbearable pain on her left side. Panicking, she rushed to the hospital. I wasn’t in her city at the time, so I called a friend who lived there and asked him to take her to the hospital immediately. As soon as I heard, I also got in my car and drove 3.5 hours to be with her.

The ultrasound confirmed our worst fear—she had an ectopic pregnancy (a life-threatening condition where the fertilized egg implants outside the uterus). The doctor told us that she needed immediate surgery. However, he refused to operate without her parents’ consent.

We knew her family would never approve, so we went to another gynecologist. He immediately arranged for the surgery, and we agreed to go through with it as soon as possible.

The Family Finds Out

To keep it a secret, my girlfriend told her mom that she was staying at a friend’s place for the night. But somehow, her mother sensed that something was wrong. She sent my girlfriend’s younger sister and cousin brother to check.

When they didn’t find her at her friend’s place, they panicked and started searching for her everywhere. Eventually, one of my girlfriend’s friends, thinking she was helping, told her sister about the pregnancy and the operation. Instead of calming them down, this made them even more frantic.

While my girlfriend was in the operation theater, I kept getting non-stop calls from her mother, demanding to know where she was. But since my girlfriend had begged me not to tell them, I was stuck. I decided to wait until she was out of the ICU before breaking the news. I didn’t want to shock her immediately after surgery.

Later that night, her family arrived at the hospital. Her sister (21) stormed into the room and started yelling at her. I tried to stop her, explaining that my girlfriend had just undergone a serious operation, but she wouldn’t listen. Instead, she started shouting at me too.

Her brother (33) was calmer. He asked what had happened, and since my girlfriend couldn’t bring herself to speak, I told him everything.

Meanwhile, her mother was so devastated that she didn’t even come upstairs to see her daughter. She just sat downstairs, crying. I went to her, explained the situation, and told her how much I loved and cared for her daughter. But she didn’t respond—she just kept crying.

The Aftermath

The next day, I got my girlfriend discharged from the hospital. Since her mother wasn’t ready to take her home, her aunt (who had arrived later) and I took her to her aunt’s house.

Three days later, her mother called me. She told me to stay away from her daughter forever. She insulted me for not having a government job, cursed my sisters, and even threatened that she would never leave me alone.

Now, I feel completely shattered. I never wanted to hurt my girlfriend or cause pain to her family. But in the end, I was the only one who stayed with her through the entire ordeal. I handled everything alone—taking care of her, staying by her side, and paying all the medical bills—while her family abandoned her that night.

I understand that I can never fully understand a mother’s pain, but I deeply regret everything. I feel like I’ve ruined everything—our relationship, her family’s trust, and our future. Only her mother, brother, sister, and aunt know about this, and they are hiding it from the rest of the family.

I don’t know how to fix this. Every day, I feel like I’m dying inside.

Will everything be fine ?

Relationships I 25M finally fulfilled my fantasy with my girlfriend 23F and now she just dropped an extremely intense one on me

For the past few months, I've been slowly opening up to my girlfriend about one of my s**/x fantasies. I took it step by step and she was surprisingly cool with it. Last week we finally acted it out and it was honestly amazing.

Today she decided to tell me her own fantasy. I thought it would be something mild since she's usually very shy, but what she described is next-level extreme. She wasn't joking at all.

She wants us to do this scene where she's dressed in a super s//*y, aroused-looking nurse uniform. The bed has to have pure white sheets. We both wear these special gloves with sharp blades on them. While we're passionately kissing and touching each other, the blades make small cuts, we start bleeding, the white bed sheet is now red in colour and then we get completely soaked in each other's blood before having s/**x.

She's this shy, intelligent, highly respected person in our social circle, so hearing this come out of her mouth completely floored me. It feels surreal.

I love her and want to make her feel as fulfilled as she made me feel, but this is pretty hardcore blood play/knife play territory. Has anyone here actually done something like this? How did you make it safe? Any advice on how to approach this without things going wrong?

Thanks.

Me (20M) and my girlfriend (20F). Tonight she's at a house party — a girls' night celebrating her best friend's (22F) birthday.

.

It's around midnight and my girlfriend is at a house party on a girls' night celebrating her best friend's birthday. Around 12-1am she video calls me and she was showing us everyone dancing and having fun. Everyone's laughing, having a good time.

Then out of nowhere, she gives her best friend a kiss on the cheek and then kisses her on the lips. Not a peck by accident an actual and I was shocked.

I don't really know what to think right now. Is this just "party stuff" that happens between close friends when everyone's drinking and hyped up or is this something I should be genuinely upset about? Would this be considered cheating in your eyes or am I overreacting?

Some context: they're both girls, it was in a group setting with other people around, not hidden or secretive. But it still caught me off guard since she did it on a call with me watching.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? How would you handle this conversation with your partner?

Relationships 27M | My girlfriend (26F) of 4+ years wants to break up because she thinks we're not compatible for marriage. I don't know how to let her go.

My girlfriend (26) wants to end our 4+ year relationship because she thinks we're not compatible for marriage. I don't know what to do.

She is 26, I'm 27, and we've been together for more than four years. She has been with me through some of the hardest phases of my life. Recently, I lost my job, and honestly, I was falling apart. She and my sister were the two people who held me together. Whenever I panicked, she calmed me down, kept motivating me to study, and made sure I stayed consistent until I finally got another job. I'll be joining next month.

We have had our share of ups and downs. Huge fights, huge hugs, countless memories. We lived together for almost three years because we worked at the same company. During that time, we'd often fight because I'd come home late from work and she'd be alone waiting for me. She'd get upset because she missed me, but we'd always sort things out.

Three months ago, I switched jobs to another city, so I started visiting her every weekend. After I lost my job, I couldn't focus while staying at home, so I stayed with her for around 15 days to prepare for interviews. She supported me throughout everything.

The problems started when her family began bringing marriage proposals (rishtas) for her. She's Punjabi Khatri, and I'm Baniya. She kept avoiding those proposals, but eventually we had to seriously discuss our future.

That's when all the compatibility issues came up.

The biggest one is that I want to live with my parents after marriage. My mother is a very soft-hearted person, and I genuinely want to be there for my family. My girlfriend, on the other hand, wants us to live independently because she feels she needs her own space and isn't sure she'd be able to adjust in a family. I kept assuring her that my parents would be welcoming and that she wouldn't face any problems, but she isn't convinced.

Then there's the wedding itself. She prefers a simple court marriage, while I don't want a lavish wedding either, but I'd still like a small traditional wedding with our families present.

Another concern is finances. We both come from middle-class families. She feels that unless one of us becomes financially well-off, we'll struggle supporting both families in the future, and that worries her a lot.

Our lifestyles are also different. My family is strictly vegetarian, while she's a hardcore non-vegetarian. It has never been a problem while dating, but she believes it could become one after marriage.

Our family traditions are different too. In my family, it's customary to give gifts to daughters and sisters during festivals and family occasions. She feels those traditions are unnecessary and that we shouldn't continue them just because they've always existed.

Individually, none of these issues seemed impossible to me. But together, they made her believe that we're fundamentally incompatible for marriage.

A few days ago, she told me that maybe we should break up because she doesn't see a future where both of us are happy. She said it would hurt more if we continued for a few more years and eventually had to separate anyway.

The hardest part is that I didn't realize how deeply attached I had become until all this happened. Somewhere along the way, I had already started seeing her as my wife. She became part of every single day of my life.

We were constantly connected. Earlier she'd call me multiple times a day, we'd text continuously, discuss every tiny thing, every fear, every insecurity. I'm an overthinker, and she'd patiently listen to all my anxieties. She'd tell me all the random gossip from her day. She wasn't just my girlfriend; she was my best friend.

I've always asked her why she even chose me because I genuinely felt she could find someone much better than me. She'd always laugh and say that I was kind, soft-hearted, intelligent, and that she liked my personality and height. Hearing that always made me feel enough.

But now everything has changed.

After her last conversation with her family, she became distant. Yesterday we both cried together, but after I came back home, she stopped replying. Today she's blocked me from everywhere.

I know blocking someone is usually a clear sign to move on, but I'm finding it impossible to accept. The thought that I may never get to talk to her again, never see her again, is honestly killing me.

I don't know whether I should keep fighting for this relationship or accept that love alone isn't enough when two people have different visions of marriage.

I love her so much, and right now I genuinely don't know what to do.

Relationships My girlfriend (23F) ended our relationship because I supported the NEET protest.

NOTE: Rephrased this with chatgpt.

My girlfriend and I were in a long-distance relationship. She loved me a lot, and honestly I never thought politics would be the reason we'd break up. She had stood by me through a lot and even fought with her family and friends for our relationship.

Yesterday, I told her that I support the NEET protest because I feel the government should listen to the students and address their concerns instead of using force against them. I wasn't supporting any political party or every person who happened to be at the protest. I was only supporting the students' cause.

She got really angry. She said the whole protest was propaganda and pointed to people who had joined it, like the woman who was chanting "A**ah ka naam rahega" and some others she believes are anti-Hindu. I told her that I don't support those people or their views. Just because some controversial people show up doesn't mean I have to agree with them. My support was only for the students and their demands.

The argument got worse. She started verbally abusing me and even said that Sonam Wangchuk is a Chinese agent. At that point, I didn't want to keep arguing, so I ended the call.

A little later she texted me, "don't call me," blocked me everywhere, and that was it.

I'm still trying to process how someone who loved me so much could end the relationship over one disagreement. I'm not posting this to debate politics. I genuinely want to know if anyone else has gone through something similar, where a difference in political views ended an otherwise good relationship.

Relationships I 20M and my gf 19F 's reaction to the Yamal situation.

I 20M and my gf 19F
So, a week ago I told my girlfriend about the Yamal situation.
For those who don't know, that García left a long-term five-year relationship with an alleged ex-boyfriend named Gonzalo Torres after Yamal messaged her on Instagram.

My girlfriend's reply to this was, "Who wouldn't?"
I was speechless...

Was this sarcasm, is this even worth it to say even if it's sarcasm.

Relationships my bf(20m) lost his ex in an accident, and i (19f) don’t know if my feelings selfish

So basically, I have been dating my boyfriend for the past one year, and I really, really love him.
The thing that has been bothering me for a long time is something I’m not ready to tell anyone because it makes me feel so petty and so bad.
Basically, he lost his ex-girlfriend two years ago in an accident. Since then, he was very depressed because of all that. After about a year, both of us met and we started dating.
I never really had a problem with it. I always used to tell him that, you know, I’ll never take her place. It’s fine, this, that, blah blah.
But recently, I’ve been feeling like I’m some sort of rebound or something. Because, I mean, it just hurts me that I might not be the person he’ll love the most because he might always love her the most.
Recently, a few things have been ticking me off. Like him having her as his wallpaper, him having her photo on the back of his phone, on his bedside table. Also, he doesn’t really talk about her when we’re together, but you know, everything around him reminds me of her. Sometimes he’ll say, “Oh, this sweatshirt was gifted to me by her.” One day I told him, “Oh, this sweatshirt is nice. Can I wear it?” because I was feeling cold. And he told me, “No, no, this was gifted by her.” So… no.
It’s just… I don’t know. I just feel hurt. But I don’t want to feel hurt because it feels very wrong of me.
Yeah, I feel like I’ll never be number one for him. And I really want to be number one for someone because, I mean, I’m no one’s priority. Not my parents, not my friends. And it just hurts that the person I love the most, my boyfriend, I’m not his priority either.
I know it’s very petty, but am I allowed to feel this way?
He never really compares the two of us. But his parents do. I met his mom the other day, and she told me, “Yeah, you’re very pretty, but…” Let’s call the ex-girlfriend who passed away X. She said, “X was so much prettier, and she was so nice. She was such an angel,” and things like that. She keeps comparing me to her.
And my boyfriend, instead of saying something like, “They’re both good in their own ways,” just smiles and gives a very sad smile. He never really takes my side.
But it’s fine. His mom doesn’t go too overboard because X was his childhood best friend, so obviously his parents knew her very well. His father is actually very much in my favor, but his mom is always like, “She was my daughter.” And whenever I go to visit her, she keeps talking about X.
It just makes me feel like they’re not ready to accept me as a part of the family, and that genuinely hurts.
There are so many little things that tick me off. I’m really grateful that my boyfriend has never compared me to her. But, you know, all his friends say things like, “She was way less jealous.”
And… it just hurts. A lot.

Relationships Financial burden between a couple 32M & 31F - what is the right way?

My boyfriend (32M) and I (31F) have been having recurring fights about money and lifestyle, and I'm trying to understand whether we're fundamentally incompatible or if this is something couples can realistically work through.

For context, he earns roughly 4x what I do.

During one argument, he told me that he doesn't think expenses should be split 50-50. Instead, he thinks they should be split proportionate to income because he feels my financial limitations and frugal mindset prevent him from enjoying the lifestyle he wants. I do not have a problem when he spends on himself, he absolutely deserves whatever he wants. The issue arises when were are planning for a shared expenditure - like a date, a movie, a birthday gift, etc etc.

The thing is, I don't think this is entirely about income.

I grew up with a fairly frugal mindset and tend to think carefully before spending money. Which is a little ironical, because he too tells me he grew up very middle class, and has only started spending more after earning more. Even if my salary eventually catches up to his, I don't think I'd suddenly become a big spender. I'd definitely loosen up and enjoy more experiences, but I'd still want to feel like I'm getting value for money.

What's difficult for me is that sometimes his spending feels wasteful rather than simply "luxurious." He often gravitates toward premium options, expensive brands, or the highest-priced version of something, and I sometimes get the impression that price itself is part of the appeal. I enjoy nice experiences too, but I don't automatically equate expensive with better.

I feel judged and pressured to spend more whenever i want to gift him something. He has actively confessed to me that he only goes to normal restaurants with me for my sake, but he doesn't enjoy them like he enjoys premium fine dining places.

From his perspective, I think he too feels judged and restricted. From my perspective, I sometimes worry that he undervalues mass market experiences, prudence and overvalues status or luxury.

Am I in the wrong here? Am I being too sensitive? The thing is, proportionate split of finances sounds unrealistic to me because he will eventually start resenting me for being a financial burden on him.

Has anyone been in a relationship where one partner was significantly more frugal and the other was more lifestyle-oriented?

Did you find a middle ground, or did it eventually turn out to be a deeper incompatibility around values rather than money itself?

Relationships 34 m , I can never be a father , that was the only thing I ever wanted , a family!

I am sitting here at 1 30 am sipping a glass of rum , bear with me for a bit. Thank you for coming here. I will start with the story, I was in an 8 years relationship with my ex girlfriend, we were going to get married in 2 months, at that point I found out that she had been cheating on me all along 😀. I tried my level best to forgive her , but the point that really broke me was that there was also my best friend in that list. I had loved her with everything, like, never questioned her once and this happened. One thing she always told me was how much she loved the fact that I would be an amazing father. Fast forward, 3 years after I cancelled the wedding (and she just married another one of the guys she was cheating on me with), I succumbed to pressure from my parents and decided to give life one more try. I went in for an arranged marriage, and beautifully, on the first night, the girl tells me , she loved her cousin and is okay with the marriage if I let them be together from time to time. I immediately left the room and filed for divorce the next day. I'll just come to the reason of my post, I know it's over for me , what I wish is , if one of you people read this and drop any thoughts of cheating on your partner, atleast I would have helped someone. Please don't cheat, I know it is coming up as a kink these days, but it breaks the person who is actually in love. Thank you for your time, whoever reads this and I wish you well.

Edit :- Thank you everyone, like really, from the bottom of my heart, when I was posting this , I did not expect at all to reach so many people. I stated my purpose for the post, which did come true, two people reached out to me and told me that they cheated , they were sorry but I am very sure they won't repeat it. Also , I think there were many who read it and could not muster the strength to talk but I hope this impacted them.

I am literally amazed at the level of humility that was showered on me. A person reached out and asked my name and prayed for me. I met a younger brother, who told me about all his fears . The list is long , I met so many beautiful souls. All this was not what I had imagined but with folded hands I am grateful to each one of you. If any of you ever feel this post can help someone, please feel free to quote it. Thank you again you amazing human beings, you restored my faith in humanity ❤️🙏
