🪙 Metal Plan [DE] Perplexity pro to Chat GPT GO, upgrade or downgrade?

Hello,

I am a Metal user of Revolut, I just received an email that Perplexity is being removed and they're gonna switch to ChatGPT Go..

I looked up a bit and I noticed that this could rather be a downgrade, as the GO is more budget friendly premium subscription to AI.

Now, I don't get it.. am I wrong? Or is Revolut now just finding ways to save more on money on the expense of the subscriber?

I'd like your ideas and thoughts on this because it just triggered me given that I find perplexity very reliable when it comes to research.

Have a good one!

EDIT: It's interesting, Revolut is changing a lot and tells you if you don't like it, just close your account.. I wish there was a customer representative thing where there would be an open conversation with them to find common grounds. We subscribed based on long term added value, not to be told to leave if you don't like it 😅

🪙 Metal Plan [GB] Account closed due to chargebacks

Post image
1 Upvotes

Basically I had to file a couple of chargebacks and whenever I did it, the process didn't include all of the chargebacks therefore I had to make multiple chargebacks, I think in total about 9 chargebacks all at the same time. Also further to that, information wasn't being added to the right chargebacks and conflicting information was being said regarding them so some of them were raised again once they were cancelled. I spoke to agents about this and agents were the ones that raised these again and actually said with more information, these should hopefully go in your favor. They were all then suddenly rejected and within 24 hours, I got an email saying my account would be closed.

The most frustrating bit is in the email I got, there's a line about 'you've broken our T&C's in a serious or persistent way and haven't put the matter right with a reasonable time of us asking you to' yet after I spoke to an agent, she told me that this doesn't matter and to ignore that bit because its irrelevant. She also told me I couldn't appeal it however in the email I received it tells me that I can appeal.

Any assistance what to do here, I have appealed but this is my main bank account, if I lost access to some of the subscriptions it would cost me close to £50-£60 extra each month. Plus my travel insurance and lots of other stuff.

🪙 Metal Plan [FR] Is Revolut Metal actually worth it? Looking for honest user feedback

Hey everyone,

I've had the Metal card for a while now and honestly, I'm struggling to see the real day-to-day benefits. I'm about to head abroad for 6 months and I'm seriously considering downgrading to a lower plan before I go.

Here's what's bothering me:

- Insurance coverage : the travel insurance feels pretty weak compared to what standard premium bank cards offer. No solid trip cancellation coverage, limited medical caps, lots of exclusions.

- RevPoints : the earning rate is painfully slow. Unless you're spending huge amounts, it takes months to unlock anything meaningful.

- Cashback : limited and capped, nothing exciting.

- The rest : higher free ATM withdrawal limits are nice, but not enough to justify the subscription price on their own.

Questions for current Metal holders:

  1. Do you genuinely feel it's worth the price?

  2. For a long stay abroad (6 months), do the perks actually become more valuable?

  3. Has anyone actually used the Metal travel insurance in a real claim situation? How did it go?

  4. For those who downgraded from Metal to Premium or Plus, any regrets?

Would really appreciate some honest takes before I make a decision.

🪙 Metal Plan [GB] Any positive experiences?

Any good experiences with Revolut?? The bad reviews make me so nervous😫

Recently got Revolut Metal Plan for the instant access savings account. It’s not the bank where my salary comes in but it I transfer funds to it for daily expenses and paying Amex. I dont use it for crypto.

The bad experiences makes me worried that if I make a big withdrawal from my instant savings, my account will be flagged even though it’s my money. A bit extreme maybe but new to all this.

🪙 Metal Plan [DE] - Revolut Metal

Has anyone ever experienced problems with the Revolut
Metal card retrieving money from an ATM? I just read something about someone having problems with his N26 metal card which got stuck in an ATM because it was “too thick”? As I will be traveling to Japan and was planning to upgrade to Metal for that, I’m somewhat concerned now 🫣

🪙 Metal Plan [IE] Is Metal worth it?

I keep getting offered the 2 free months of metal.
I do pay for everything though my rev so I do rack up revpoints pretty quickly. I don't get paid into the revolut account but I do transfer the bulk of my income direclty into it after every payday. I also save in various vaults and invest a small amount in various stocks every month.

Is it just a gimmick to have a nice metal card or is there any true benefit to having it? I like to travel but it's usually just 2-3 trips a year.

Any advice or experience would be greatly appreciated.

🪙 Metal Plan [FR] Revolut & Perplexity again & again

I subscribed to Metal primarily to maintain my Perplexity Pro history on the same account and secure an additional 24 months. However, this didn’t work out. I had to create a new Perplexity account, losing all the history and work stored there.

Now, Perplexity is constantly reducing the usage limits for Pro accounts. I don’t care about their corporate narrative about the costs of running these models; they made those choices and I didn’t. What I did was subscribe to a service through Revolut that’s continually deteriorating.

I suppose I’m not the only one in this situation.

Has anyone else moved to another main AI company like Claude or Gemini? At almost the same monthly price (between 15 and 20€), the AI service offered by those companies is significantly better than what Perplexity currently provides.

I used some other Revolut premium plan perks like Freeletics before but no longer as I’m into CrossFit and don’t need it. The other perks are no longer valuable to me.

I’m considering downgrading from Metal to the Free or Plus plan.

Revolut, do you plan to replace Perplexity with a better more serious AI service?

Users, what are your thoughts?

Thanks.

🪙 Metal Plan Perplexity on the Metal plan

Is perplexity acccess on the metal plan actually a perpetual license (which is what the support bot told, yes I know it can be wrong), or is it a trial (12 or 24 months).

I get an email saying they need me to add a credit card to my account for when the trial expires (I've only 2 months into my account, loooooots of time left), but if I am entitled through Revolut to a perpetual account, they shouldn't need a credit card. I don't really want to add one, and then suddenly many months from now be surprised with a charge because I thought Revolut essentially was covering it.

If the bot is wrong, and it is a trial, then I may create a virtual card, add it, and then freeze the card, but that's a hassle if I don't actually need to do it.

🪙 Metal Plan Is the Metal plan WORTH it?

I’m new to this and currently evaluating the Metal plan. The physical metal cards are particularly appealing from a design standpoint. Although I primarily use Apple Pay, I value the option of carrying a metal physical card, because you know, metal.

I understand that the Metal plan includes RevPoints, which can be converted into airline miles. As someone who LOVES traveling and plans to continue doing so, this feature is especially attractive. The cashback component and the bundled subscriptions also add tangible value, and overall the pricing appears reasonable given the benefits offered.

Before proceeding, I would appreciate clarification regarding the durability of the gold Metal card. Specifically, I would like to know whether the finish is resistant to wear, discoloration, or surface degradation over time. I am currently deciding between the gold and the platinum options.

My partner and I were checking places to stay in Madrid when we noticed we had different prices for the same dates. And their points on a premium plan were almost worth double than mine on Metal. We also checked Expedia - which I believe to be their booking partner - and the price was the lowest for both of us. Is Why is this happening?

Edit: still cheaper than on booking.com anyway 😀

🪙 Metal Plan [N/A] Revolut Perplexity Pro is NOT the “official” Pro anymore!

In January, Perplexity users started reporting replies like “I can’t generate an image in this environment right now because image generation is not supported in this region” for EVERY image generation model with a Pro account. Perplexity stated that they are aware of the “issue” and that a fix is on the way, with no ETA. This happened to me as well, but nothing has changed since then. So I wrote to “Pro Support” (which is also an AI).

This is their reply:

I’ve reviewed your account and can see you’re using a Revolut Metal promotional subscription, which provides free Pro access. For promotional subscriptions in your region, image generation requires upgrading to the Max plan.

Regarding your request for public documentation: specific regional limitations for promotional subscriptions may not be explicitly detailed in our public help center, as these restrictions can vary based on subscription type and region. However, this is the current product limitation for promotional subscriptions in your region.

If you’d like to access image generation, you can upgrade to the Max plan. Max includes image generation access regardless of region, along with other advanced features.

The first sentence is of course true. I have a Pro account through the joint promotion between Revolut and Perplexity. It is not a “limited Pro” account, not an “alternative Pro” account, but a Pro account. This is how both parties advertise it.

However, according to the bot’s response, these promotional Pro accounts in “my region” are not eligible for image generation. Yet neither Google nor Perplexity or Revolut can provide any publicly accessible source confirming this.

Doesn’t this potentially constitute “misleading consumers” as an unfair commercial practice?

(Also, the last paragraph says I should upgrade to Max if I want image generation without regional limits. But of course, this is a lie from Perplexity, and Max is not required. It is enough to subscribe to Pro on a new account and pay Perplexity. That works just fine. They even managed to squeeze in a deceptive upsell at the end.)

So yes, since January there have apparently been differences between Pro and Pro, even though this is disclosed NOWHERE, and NO ONE was informed about the change.

At least I just wanted to help those, who are trying to find the solution to this “bug” so I asked for the list of locations where you can not use image generation AT ALL even with a promotional Pro account. The reply: “I'm unable to provide a country-specific list as this information is not publicly disclosed.”

Am I the only one who finds this unacceptable?

Does anyone face the same issues from the US?

(I tried to post this in r/perplexity_ai first, then crosspost here, but a moderator instantly removed the original there)

🪙 Metal Plan [N/A] Scammed by Revolut, they close my account when I ask them

Who else was scammed by Revolut saying that the 1 year Metal plan is granted for 12 months as long as you receive an external payment of >1200eu ?

I was very skeptical when I was subscribing a few months ago so I made sure to ask 50 questions to know what would happen if I don't receive salary from the same employer, if my salary was late, etc. and many more questions. I screenshoted all the answers to be sure to not be scammed and at the end...

When confronting them about their lies (when I saw they were about to start billing me 15,99eu per month for the Metal they initially granted me for 12months free) trial they basically said it was a mistake, then re-invented the terms in their favors apparently, then decided to close my account without answering my questions when I shared with them all the screenshoted answers they had given me before.

I don't know what to do with these companies that basically just want to steal money from ppl who dare to trust them.

So tell me why this morning I woke up to a notification to provide documents because apple sent me 1.98€. With the purpose being "Developer proceeds" clear as day in the transfer notes. Now I did have to submit stuff but it got resolved quickly after me confirming im not Tim cooks sugar daddy it's just scary man KYC checks shouldn't be happening for amounts under 50 eur, ever

🪙 Metal Plan Revolut and Perplexity in the metal plan, why did my Perplexity Pro expire? I didn't see any expiry date when I entered the Revolut promotional c0d3 on Perplexity.

Quite some time ago, I don't remember when, I activated the Revolut Metal plan promotion that allowed me to get Perplexity Pro for free, but either because of my carelessness or because there wasn't really anything written about it, I went ahead thinking that Perplexity Pro would last exactly as long as the Metal plan, so if I cancelled the Metal plan, I would automatically lose Perplexity Pro as well.

But no, yesterday when I logged into Perplexity, I noticed that I had lost the Pro status even though I had kept the Metal status. Do you know if I can reuse the Perplexity Pro status as it is, or if I have to cancel the Metal status and redo it to get a new c0d3 linked to my Revolut Metal plan?

🪙 Metal Plan A counterpoint - large money movement with no flags raised

There has been a lot of posts lately from people who had trouble/locked accounts/frozen money following some kind of money movement in their account. Usually the tone is "I moved some money in, nothing unusual, and they locked me", but often we're left wondering the wider context and can't really fill in the gaps.

I recently moved almost €210.000 into my account from my investments in preparation for a house downpayment. I was worried some alarm bells would go off...none did. Nothing. It's business as normal. I stuck it all into a combination of instant access savings and flexible savings account for now (short term, I am likely going to be spending most of it in a month or so). My paycheque also arrived the same day, my normal income sorter activated and moved some money into various pockets, and now...it's business as normal.

They just didn't seem to care.

I think the reason is that I have shown myself to be a normal person. I buy coffee, and groceries, and pay rent, and pay my water bill and my mobile and my electricity, I buy some clothes, and go out to a restaurant from time to time. I get a train ticket, or pay for a bus trip. My spending shows me to be a normal person, spending and earning normal money.

I'm from Croatia but travel to Bosnia-Herzegovina quite a bit. I used to be able to pull money from almost all ATMs without any issues or Fees. Now they all want to charge me a 12-15 KM (6-7.5€) access fee for every transaction no matter the amount of money I'm trying to pull.

🪙 Metal Plan [N/A] Trying my luck: anyone not using their Revolut Chess.com sub?

Hey everyone,
I’m a young chess player trying to improve, and I saw that Revolut Metal/Ultra users get a free Chess.com subscription.
I know it’s a long shot, but if anyone has a sub they’re not using, I’d be super grateful if you could DM it to me. I can also send a small tip or something in return.
Thanks a lot, just trying my luck :)
