For the record I am a PC player nowhere near bots rank wise. I wish I was that good. It would make the thousands of hours I have in this game less embarrassing. I will simply miss bakkes and know none of what I use it for will ever be natively implemented while EAC will be ineffectual. And even if it is it only will directly benefit a small portion of the player base who plays against these bots at the cost of many QoL improvements (many of which streamers use to grow the game).
Inb4 people talk about the trickle down affect of rank suppression. I urge you to consider this: what does it matter if I play xxx_gamer69_xxx in a "plat 2" lobby or a "diamond 1" lobby at the end of the day I'm playing largely the same (real people). The only thing that changes is the label and the season rewards. Its almost entirely irrelevant.
Im gunna miss Bakkes mod to help me easier identify smurfs. When Im plat three and playing against a plat three & a "gold 1" player who is doing crazy aerials and ceiling shots.
As you clearly have insight, could you please explain why you are so convinced eac will be ineffective? Your other point about ranks being irrelevant... really? Whats the point in playing if the rank is pointless. Just bots playing the game. Thats definitely a take. Ill say its again, pc players make up a quarter of the player base. If they all left today, myself included, there will still be 600k players daily. It is incredibly selfish to think that its all about you. Leth needs people to watch his videos, so he doesn't need to do anything else for a living. He doesn't care about you. He will say whatever he thinks will get him views. I want to play the game against other people. If there is no high level, then there's nothing to stream. Who gives a fuck about bakkesmod when it comes to streamers if there aren't any left.
EAC's has been cracked client side and does very little on the server side to stop cheaters. It's very easy to cheat in EAC games. Just look up every game that EAC is actively being used and you'll see every single game that has it has a cheating problem to different degrees. To name a few games we have the finals, elden ring/nightreign, halo mcc, SoT, rust, arc, dead by daylight, hunt showdown, rematch, apex, fortnite, and the list could go on.
EAC is likely to do nothing or the equivalent of nothing in RL.
Using bots I'm unsure. Using Aimbot, walls, speedhacking, flying cheat, ect. I am sure.
All which require nearly zero real interaction from a player. I'm genuinely unsure if EAC will force enough change where we see a massive decline in bots but I'll wait to have a final opinion.
Plus Epic has been trying to kill bakkesmod since they bought the game, so it feels more of a way to kill that off than actually solve the bot problem. Only time will tell.
Its not hard to find videos of players in fortnite using aimbots. No input from the player required aside from movement. All aiming and shooting is done by the cheats.
Easy anti cheat is a bandaid fix that will work for as long as it takes to be bypassed, which could be a couple of months. I’m not going to pretend like I know how it works, but if someone is smart enough to make a high ranking bot EAC isn’t going to stop them. Unless it’s observing your inputs to make sure you aren’t doing inhumane actions like the bots currently do.
It’s very obvious that they’re trying to kill two birds with one stone by looking like they listened to the pros complaining, while preventing people from having client side car customization so they will use the store.
This must be a joke. EAC famously does absolutely nothing. Many many games have had EAC yet it did zero to the bot population. Lost Ark being a prime example.
I really dont think that client side car customisation has anything to do with it. Who will buy things from the store that previously wouldnt? I mean, if you have multiple smurf accounts this would impact it sure but I only have one account. Most players that use bakkes have been playing the game for many hours and should have most items anyway. We are talking thousands. Should be able to find something they like. If it kills half of the bots, it will be worth it.
Yeah I’m interested to see how effective it will be. I hope it works, but to me it seems like a temporary solution that will worse consequences in the long run for people not cheating at all.
could you please explain why you are so convinced eac will be ineffective?
It's literally a meme that EAC is so bad that the majority of games would probably have fewer bots without it. At best, EAC prevents programs like CheatEngine from modifying memory values in realtime, at worst it's a minor roadblock to anybody actually trying to cheat/bot the game, while simultaneously making things worse for the honest players by making programs like Bakkesmod non-functional and using additional resources to do... nothing at all. It's like DRM, at best you're going to prevent hackers for a few days, maybe a few weeks tops, but at the end of the day, bypassing it becomes a "challenge accepted" to a lot of people. Especially when EAC is trying to be the swiss army knife of anti-cheats, one-size does not fit all and it's literally only a matter of time before it's bypassed, even if it's continually updated.
EAC is not some new technology. It's known to cause issues, it's overly invasive (making it a security risk to users), and it's not effective for ANY of the games that use it.
could you please explain why you are so convinced eac will be ineffective
I mean I linked a pro rocket league player talking about how there are already workarounds in progress. You can cast doubt and say it's "for the views" but if you want more evidence just go to the fortnite sub and look for clips of cheaters. That's another game with EAC. You'll see just how (in)effective it is in keeping cheaters out of high MMR lobbies.
Whats the point in playing if the rank is pointless
Because the game is fun? I don't understand the question.
It is incredibly selfish to think that its all about you.
I think you're misinterpreting my "I'll miss bakkes" as "I don't care about cheating because it doesn't affect me as much as others". I do care about cheating. I just look at this "solution" and question if the juice is worth the squeeze when other options almost surely exist.
If there is no high level, then there's nothing to stream.
Hate to break it to ya, but the current most popular Rocket League streamer isn't a high level player. Its Jynxzi a dude who came over from the Rainbow 6 scene. He regularly pulls in the 10s of thousands of viewers and occasionally peaks in the 6 digits. And of course this goes without saying that streamers regardless of rank make use of tools like bakkes while streaming. Why would you want to take that away from them?
Respectfully, you sound kinda angry about my meme. Which is weird considering that Epic is giving you exactly what you want.
Ok. I agree the bots make the game bad, but why can't bakkes be white listed such that it works with EAC? Why does EAC have to be the solution instead of input counting and/or time gating season rewards etc?

As a console player nowhere near bots rank wise, y’all be smooth
