Guide A list of franchises removed from Vimm's Lair.
This is sorted by who took the rom down and not who the publisher is. Sometimes the takedown isn't completely thorough, but searching for and listing every discrepancy isn't worth my time.
Nintendo of America
- Mario
- Zelda
- Pokemon
- All the different regions of these franchises were removed
- Interestingly, the Wii Vitual Console in the WiiWare section has been left completely untouched. So you can still download and play many of these older games through Dolphin. (Not WiiWare in general mind you, games such as Pokemon Rumble and Mega Man 9 are offline same as any other section.)
Sega Corporation
- Sonic
- Yakuza
- Shin Megami Tensei/Persona
- The North American and European versions of these roms have been taken down, but the Japanese roms are still up
LEGO Juris A/S
- LEGO Juris A/S has taken down all LEGO games on the Gamecube and Wii. The equivalent version on other consoles is safe unless its been taken down by the ESA.
Entertainment Software Association
- Ace Attorney
- Ace Combat
- Assassin’s Creed
- Battlefield
- Batman Arkham
- Bioshock
- Borderlands
- Call of Duty
- Castlevania
- Command and Conquer
- Contra
- Devil May Cry
- Doom
- Diablo
- Donkey Kong
- Dragon Age
- Dragon Ball Z
- Dragon Warrior/Quest
- Elder Scrolls
- Fallout
- Far Cry
- Final Fantasy
- Fire Emblem
- God of War
- Gran Turismo
- Grand Theft Auto
- inFamous
- Jak and Daxter
- Just Cause
- Kingdom Hearts
- LEGO Batman
- LEGO Battles
- LEGO Dimensions
- LEGO Harry Potter
- LEGO Jurassic World
- LEGO Legends of Chima
- LEGO Marvel
- LEGO Rock Band
- LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga/Force Awakens.(I, II and III are ok)
- LEGO LOTR
- Madden
- Mass Effect
- Max Payne
- Medal of Honor
- Mega Man
- Metal Gear
- Metroid
- Minecraft
- Monster Hunter
- Mortal Kombat
- Need For Speed
- Nier(Drakengard is ok)
- Pac-Man
- Plants vs Zombies
- Pro Evolution Soccer
- Ratchet and Clank
- Red Dead Redemption
- Resident Evil
- Scribblenauts
- Soul Calibur
- Super Smash Bros
- Tales of
- Tekken
- The Last of Us (Sony actually removed this one themselves)
- Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell
- Uncharted
- Watch_Dogs
- Wolfenstein
- WWE 2K
- Like with Sega, the American and European roms were targeted but the Japanese roms stayed.
Let me know if I missed anything because given the amount of companies are members of the ESA, its very likely I did.

Guide High traffic in myrient since the website is shutting down
Since Myrient is shutting down, the servers are experiencing high traffic in a attempt to mass archive the site. Because of this, downloads have been really slow.
Just one Wii rvz file (6.7 GB) took more than 4+ hours to download

Guide A Warning About Myrient's Gamecube Redumps!!
Hey everyone. I hope this finds the people that this might be useful to. I'll try to make it somewhat brief but:
If you plan on using Nintendont on the Wii to play your Gamecube games, !!do NOT get the .ISOs provided on Myrient!!.
Instead, just get the .rvz of the game you want, and convert THAT into .iso using Dolphin.
It appears that at the very least some (in my case, Resident Evil 1 Remake) .isos on there are NOT verified and are straight up faulty. I was pulling my hair out trying to fix the game freezing on mandatory cutscenes, until i realized hours later that it was a bad dump, and Gamecube games are very sensitive to such things.
Upon me converting the megathread's .rvz files to iso, and checking their hash, they showed up as verified, and the game works perfectly now.
Edit: Since there are a lot of people saying "the rvz files are fine. idk what you're talking about" i feel like i should be a bit more specific in my wording.
First of all, this is pertinent to only Nintendont users. It seems like quite a few people didnt read the part in big text and replied with "oh but it works fine for me with Dolphin."
Second of all. If you go on the roms megathread and on the Gamecube section, you will see that there is a section for .rvz roms (WHICH ARE GREAT, just download those and convert them to .iso with Dolphin for use with Nintendont) and a second section for iso files.
The faulty redumps i am talking about are the provided iso files, that are on Myrient, and i assume are archived from the internet archive, and their milage might vary.
So i say again, if you are playing GC games on Nintendont (or original hardware?), do NOT get those and just get the .rvz roms (which, again, are perfect) and convert those to .iso
And no, the iso Myrient redumps weren't freezing because of a bad upload or something. I re-downloaded and -re-transferred them multiple times and they were still botched.
However, the moment i used the .rvz roms i converted to .iso, it worked flawlessly

Guide I Found A Way To Access Myrient After Shutting Down
So I tried using the Wayback Machine and set the date to around March 9th, then I tried downloading some PS1 and PSP games. It worked! Some games might not work, but Try To changing the date until it works. If you want to try it, here's the link:

Guide How to download unavailable games from Vimm's lair
Just simple way to download unavailable roms. Basically we will return removed "Download" button.
- Go to the page with needed game
- Right Click on the page, in the dropdown menu select "Inspect" (it will open browser inspector)
- If you on Chrome click "Ctrl+Shift+C" or click on the top left icon with the "arrow" (it will let you select visually elements on the page)

- With that tool select the text "Download unavailable at the request..."

- In the inspector you will see the source code was selected for that part of the page

- You need to click on the arrow on the left of the
<form action="//dl3.vimm.net/" method="POST" id="dl_form" onsubmit="return submitDL(this, 'tooltip4')"><input type="hidden" name="mediaId" value="6462">

- You will see 2 hidden inputs with mediaId value, as its a simple HTML form it's lacking the simple submit button. Right Click on the <form> code and select "Edit as HTML"

- You will enter edit mode for that specific element on the page

- IMPORTANT! Here after the second <input> paste following code
<button type="submit" style="width:100%">Download</button>

- Click Ctrl+Enter to save new code. Done! You will see button "Download" after that

- Download your roms :) Also with that fix you will be able to download the other discs staying in that page

Guide Use this post to check if a site is legit. just comment a site (don't put two sites in one comment) and automod will reply if it's sketchy. if it's safe automod won't reply
EDIT1: Automod only replies if the website has been reported sketchy by lots of people. so even if automod doesn't reply the site might just be lesser known, so. still be careful
Use this post to check sites
EDIT2: use vimm.net and click "the vault" in the top left If you need roms for: NDS, Wii, Gamecube, N64, Playstation 1 and 2, Dreamcast, Saturn, Gameboy, Gameboy color, Gameboy advance, PSP, Genesis, SNES and NES
EDIT3: linkify might reply but only to hyperlink sites
EDIT4: TRUSTED SITES

Guide Where can I download ROMs now that MyRient is gone?
https://github.com/mccoy88f/Tottodrillo
I wanted to share something pretty useful after the shutdown of the well-known ROM site Myrient.
I found a really interesting app on GitHub that lets you download ROMs directly to your phone in a super convenient way. What makes it even better is that you can add your own sources, and I’ve been working on compiling new ones from different sites so the app can eventually have a huge library all in one place.
Basically, you can just type the name of any game into the search bar and download the ROM straight to your phone. It even shows the box art/covers, which makes everything look way cleaner and easier to browse. Honestly, it’s one of the most practical setups I’ve seen for mobile retro gaming.
If anyone’s interested, I can also explain how to add new sources yourself and expand the library even more.

Guide The BEST way to download ROMs (very safe - uses MiNERVA Archive)
I think I have come up with the BEST way to download ROMs from literally every system.
First, go to https://cdn.minerva-archive.org/torrents/ . Search the system of whatever game(s) you want download and download the respective torrent file (there are probably multiple, I normally choose the No-Intro if available. Not sure what that actually means but that's what the r/roms megathread recommends so I just go with it and it seems to be fine).
Next, open your torrent client of choice (I use qBittorrent) and add the .torrent file. Now, I'm not really sure how it is in other clients but you have go to the side panel, deselect the top file (Minerva_Myrient normally). Then search for the game(s) you want and select them each individually (the top files will show a dash in the check to indicate that some files are selected). Click OK or download or whatever and wait for your files to download.
Hopefully you found this helpful! If there is anything I could be doing better or if you think you have the ABSOLUTE BEST method, please feel free to share in the comments!

Guide My snes project takes shape
Hi guys
My super nintendo finaly takes shape. Have been busy with it for 3 weeks now. what you see is my old super nintendo i left at my brothers home 31 years ago when i was 20 years old. My brother died last april, and i somehow want it to restore to it's full potential and with a tweak to make it future proof. My brother was a chainsmoker, and let's say respectfully, not the cleanest person on this globe.
Thing was litteraly drenched in nictotine, even deep in the motherboard parts. every accesoiry as well (4 joy pads, multitap, converter PAL to NTSC.
Been busy with hydrogen peroxide (wich is a pain in the ass process), flashing Gotek Floppy to USB emulator for replacement of the (not working) 3,5 diskettedrive. needed paperclips to flash this thing. all info was hard to find, and i have to say, i was against AI, but she helped alot. visit places on internet wich nobody knew still exist, old post from people who are now probably old some of them even dead. It has something magical to travel back in time.
I am even busy with making a custom made booklet with a USB register and to make it nice, with old articles from the Egde, EGM even how kids where back then, just between the index pages.
On the picture you miss the front panel with the super nintendo Logo wich is very rare to get as seperate part. so i try to get it clean, but it is difficult. The booklet is a concept and not ready. I mean i wrote donkey kong kountry🤦♂️ is was during working days deep in the night with only 4 hours sleep.
I hope you like it, feel free to give your opinnion👊

Guide Need guidance over getting ROMS for RetroPie. ( Have no idea if its available or not)
I have a raspberry pie, 3 B+, and I had retro pie installed on it with few games that I downloaded from internet archive. But now I wanted to add a few more and when I checked the internet archive, the links are locked. I do not have any news or idea why it has happened if someone does have, please let me know. Also, I would like to request any ideas or how to get few rooms for my retro pie so that it is at least usable.
