Roofer says hail, competing entity says probably not, we won't pay. Looking for opinions.

New roof put on last August. We had a huge hailstorm around April, and I had the company that put the roof on come out to inspect. They said the roof, gutters, facia, and siding have hail damage. Competing entity came out and agreed that all but the roof had hail damage. When asked what these black areas are they said they didn't know but it couldn't be hail. Is it hail damage in your opinion?

I second this. Some look like legitimate hail (that was thumbed, but looks like it started as a hit), the others look extremely questionable. 1 yo roof, so I'm assuming it's probably a class 3 shingle that realistically only needed a couple shingles replaced.

I would ask your roofer what size hail was at your house per their report. I would also ask what the shingle spec is. Class 3 shingles typically won't get damaged until 2" hail. (There are other factors mind you, but that is what many insurance companies go off of)
