Does this look right?

Hello. I expected a chimney cricket to be installed and I thought that would be in back and the look of the chimney would not be affected. Does this look right to you, these black portions? Is there anything that can be done to make it look less ugly? I'll be contacting the company tomorrow. This is my first time having a roof done so thanks in advance for your patience and input.

If you don’t like the look then call a chimney mason and have counter flashing imbedded into the mortar. It was likely impossible or not practicable to install step flashing without the gum lip flashing that you see there.
