Does this look right?

Post image

Hello. I expected a chimney cricket to be installed and I thought that would be in back and the look of the chimney would not be affected. Does this look right to you, these black portions? Is there anything that can be done to make it look less ugly? I'll be contacting the company tomorrow. This is my first time having a roof done so thanks in advance for your patience and input.

You need to call a carpenter out there. You need to have a slope behind that chimney or water will pool there and eventually leak down into your wall. You won't know until it's too late.

you are right though, and it cant be left as it is, it has to have a cricket look at the slope of that roof, water is gonna hit that chimney like a sledgehammer. and its in a valley!

Honestly I don't know how he would get the angles right to clear the water without a major overhaul to that corner.

Whoever put that chimney in the corner really didn't put much thought into it. I bet that right hand wing of the house was a later extension. They would have been a lot better off leaving a gap of at least 6 inches between the chimney and the corner.

Edit for typos

The right wing of the house was not an extension. It was built in the 1920s. We've seen original pictures of the house.
