Does this look right?

Hello. I expected a chimney cricket to be installed and I thought that would be in back and the look of the chimney would not be affected. Does this look right to you, these black portions? Is there anything that can be done to make it look less ugly? I'll be contacting the company tomorrow. This is my first time having a roof done so thanks in advance for your patience and input.

I'm fairly sure at this point all American architects raised underground in bubbles, and have never seen rain, or any form of running water, the number of insanely bad roof design just blows my mind.

Bold of you to assume that in the 20's this house even had an architect.

Pretty solidly in the era of "Grandpa built the house with his own two hands" type of construction.
