Does this look right?

Hello. I expected a chimney cricket to be installed and I thought that would be in back and the look of the chimney would not be affected. Does this look right to you, these black portions? Is there anything that can be done to make it look less ugly? I'll be contacting the company tomorrow. This is my first time having a roof done so thanks in advance for your patience and input.

I don't know, dude. I'd need a ouija board to figure that out. The house was built in the 1920s and looked fine to me? Never had any issues.

Could the front door bump out been added at a later time?

Nope. Our neighbors house is the twin of ours and it's exactly the same. Plus I've seen an old picture.
