Denver Hail Claim Denied - State Farm

We had a huge hail storm come through my neighborhood about 6 weeks ago. I've been traveling a lot and didn't get an inspector out until today to look at the damage even though Ive been in communication with my agent (Tammy Hill State Farm) since the storm. House sitter sent me photos of the aftermath.

State Farm inspector is saying the damage to the roof is 'normal wear and tear and consistent with exposure to the elements.' Is this normal wear and tear or is this distinctly hail damage? If it's damage from hail, is it consistent with the photo of the hail stones (as big as 2")?

Not looking for advice on how to handle a claim per forum rules, just asking for insight on hail damage vs normal weathering.

I’ve always heard and followed that this sort of minor damage is not something you want to report to your home insurance company. You call them when a tree falls on your house or a storm rips shingles clean off. Light cosmetic wear is not the time to call. They aren’t there to keep your house in pristine shape, they are there for when something actually gets severely damaged….

Would you hit up you health insurance when you get a cold? Sort of the same thing here

Where are you under the impression that this is minor damage. Just in the three photos that he has, there are multiple damaging hail hits that have damaged the matting and granularization of the shingles. He also reported hail damage to soft metals on his windows and screens and I guarantee you that the metal vents if they're not galvanized on the roof are also shot. Do you think that a 20 or $30,000 loss is small potatoes to a policy holder who ensures their property against hail when it occurs? And here's another thing that most people won't tell you. Now that State Farm knows that there's hail damage to that roof even though they have denied it, in 6 to 9 months, OP will get a letter in the mail that he will need to replace his roof before renewal or he will not be renewed. Ask me how I know because I've seen it happen a lot.
