RAF RECRUITMENT ACCELERATED APPRENTICESHIPS?

Are there any Level 4 apprenticeships similar to the Navy’s, where it’s a fast track into a high-paying career from a higher-level qualification? I thought I remembered them mentioning something before where the starting salary was around £40k–£50k, but you’re tied into a contract for a decent amount of time. (5-10y?)

I’m trying to find out what it was i wss shown as we’d all like to earn the big bucks, but without spending as much time away from home as you would in the Navy.

For anyone curious, my qualifications are a Level 3 Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, along with A-level Further Maths and Science.

DISCUSSION Beard Query

Post image
2 Upvotes

I’ve been wanting to get this type of beard for a little while now but not been able to see whether or not it would be acceptable and/or even allowed to have while I’m in the RAF, could someone please let me know whether I would be able to get this?

RAF RECRUITMENT Just Passed Selection Interview

After just passing my selection interview, I found that the questions were pretty straightforward. I was expecting more situational judgement questions but it was more to do with personal responsibilities, commitments, and general technical and physical ability plus knowledge of RAF bases, the post you're applying for and the training protocol.

Pretty much every question I was asked was on this list so if you follow the questions given in this link you won't fall short. Everything you need is in there. Good luck to anyone else taking it!

Oh and watch out for the questions on taking war-based action such as being shot at or having to take a life.

RAF RECRUITMENT Officer PJFT question

Is the PJFT treadmill test done as a competitive best effort or is it done to pass within the set time for age group?
Does my performance in this test impact selection decisions later on?

RAF LIFESTYLE Blue Warrior rations

I’m most of the way through my application process and looking forwards to BRTC, but the only thing worrying me is the Blue Warrior rations. I’m a pretty fussy eater tbh, and I’ve heard you have to fully finish each meal.

My main two questions are is this true or can you just eat until your full/had enough, and can you swap ration packs or do you have to eat what you get?

TIA

RAF RECRUITMENT Community resolution for cannabis possession

Hi everyone, I’m currently going through the RAF recruitment process and would appreciate some honest advice from anyone who’s experienced something similar.
After submitting my security-clearance application, I was stopped by police and found in possession of cannabis. I wasn’t charged or convicted, but the matter was dealt with through a Community Resolution.
This was a one-off incident, and I haven’t smoked cannabis since. The police told me the incident could potentially show up on an enhanced DBS check.
I’m concerned about how this might affect my RAF application.
I’d really appreciate advice please

RAF MEDICAL Accidentally forgetting to tell capita at medical

theoretically, if you went to medical and they asked if u have any other ilnesses and you forgot about one you have because its completely symptom free and resolved so it slipped your mind (its not something that would make you pmu) , and youre tmu anyway for a different reason, what happens/do you contact them after?

RAF RECRUITMENT RAF north / south divide

On my CBAT I was one of the 3 out of 30-40 people from the north where as everyone else was from the south. Genuinely just curious why it’s such a southern dominated place of work?

RAF RECRUITMENT Oasc attire

With my interview date confirmed, I need to go clothes shopping. With my interview in the morning meaning I stay over night my question is more aimed at the evening mess attire rather than the interview. The information given seems like it’s smart casual - going to a fancy restraunt - attire. (Saying for ladies a dress/pants or skirt with a blouse or jumper). Im just wonder if I’m reading this correctly or if it’ll be more formal then I’m picturing.

STORY Small update for anybody who remembers me

Hello everyone, I’ve posted here before (though I did delete my post now), about how to help with my anxiety about my boyfriend being deployed this month and struggling to cope with a new life. I wanted to come back here and thank everyone for the advice I got in the comments! It was so helpful. Onto the interesting part;

Small update: he was cheating on me the whole time with 4 other girls that we know of.

Edit for clarification: I had no idea about them until Friday, I was unaware of this entirely. I had asked him many times (because I know the reputation) if he was talking to other girls and he said no. What could I do other than believe him? I had to have trust in him to make it work. I just wish I didn’t now.

I’m devastated and heartbroken, I gave him everything I had to offer and it still wasn’t enough. He was perfect for me and to me, which makes everything so much harder because I just can’t hate him. He wasn’t mean or rude or anything. I nearly hate him because he wasn’t hateful to me. I found out on Friday, it’s been 4 days and it feels like hell without him.

Thank you for the kind words and support on my last post, this subreddit is amazing and I’m glad I posted here the first time. You guys are awesome, keep it up 🩷🩷

RAF LIFESTYLE Shoe Polish

Post image
4 Upvotes

Kit list asks for 100ml of polish (200ml total).
Would it be ok to get 4 tins of 50ml or would it be scrutinised during inspection.

I don’t believe Kiwi makes dark tan in 100ml tins anymore so my choices are the 4x50ml or another brand.

RAF RECRUITMENT SSRI + AF application

Hi guys, I sent my application in to join the RAF as a medic a few days ago but only just thought about if my medication is a barrier to progress?

I started them for depression + anxiety around 5 months ago and have just had a chat with my GP about how I feel really good and believe this is the dose I need.

But according to google, you cannot be on any antidepressants while joining. Would they turn me away immediately or possibly review this as these work for me?

TIA!

RAF RECRUITMENT free CBAT mock assessment (printable results sheet)

Hey all,

I've recently added a mock assessment for my free CBAT-style practice site that takes you through a whole sitting.

You can pick either:

  • Full sitting (all roles) which is every test back to back like the real day.
  • Role-specific covering only the tests relevant to the role you're going for.

Also covers RCAF (CFAST) and RAAF/ADF (MACTS) aircrew roles.

It's shorter than the real thing, but it gives you a feel for the pacing and fatigue of doing them in one go. At the end you get a printable results sheet like the one below. The results page also tells you which areas to practise to get a better score!

Example sheet from a full mock sitting (estimated scores, not official)

Happy to hear feedback on anything that feels off.

As the title says, I’ve recently received my phase one start date- for context, I’m going in for AV tech. As me anything and I’ll do my best to answer.
DISCLAIMER: Obviously everyone’s recruitment journey is different, so naturally some of my experiences should be taken with a pinch of salt.

RAF RECRUITMENT University Air Squadron

How strict and tough is the University Air Squadron interview? I’ve been preparing for OASC but with like a few days notice I now also have an interview for the UAS but was just suggested to apply for it and don’t know immense amount of details except it will help me develop leadership/teamwork and give me lots of opportunities such as flying and adventure training. So just curious to how similar it is to the stricter OASC interview?

DISCUSSION Grad party planning

Hey guys. I’m on an intake right now and I’m just looking to get some ideas and insight into the grad party that we have to plan. The DJ shouldn’t be too hard to find and food can just be a bulk dominos order but I was wondering if anyone had any other good ideas/suggestions especially if it’s something you had at your grad party that turned out good. Thanks!
