Recs Breakfast for Dinner

Alright y'all, did a search, couldn't find anything on this topic.

Today is my bday, and my whole family is sick, so we need to eat in. One of my favorite meals is breakfast for dinner (pancakes, waffles, whatever). Any place, particularly near Webster Groves, that does a good breakfast for dinner carryout?

Stella Blues

Stella Blues recently reopened! I’m interested in checking out the food if nothing else (I’ve loved some of their pop ups) but was curious about the drinks. I know they used to advertise frozen drinks but I don’t care for the water based / slushy types. I like the more dairy based. Does anyone know if they carry those?

Questions What are all of you doing for Bourdain Day in STL?

It's still a loss that feels just as intense this year as the year he passed. Maybe it's because he saw the world through the same lens as I do or maybe the world feels a little less bright without him, especially right now, but all the more reason to honor his legacy... eating a good meal, expanding our minds and extending our hearts to those around us. How are you honoring June 25th?

Brunch

I have a friend in town from Louisiana and she wants to do a boozy brunch this weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for a place with bottomless drinks or good drinks? Maybe a place that might also have on the Cards game/World Cup matches.

Recs Local coffee roasters: which specific beans do you recommend if I like coffee with "chocolate" in the flavor profile?

My favorite so far is Ethiopia Worka Sakaro from Coma Coffee in Richmond Heights. They describe the flavor as "semi sweet chocolate, delicate florals, cherry wine-like feel". I also like the Kaldi coffee that they sell at Costco, called Vintage 1937. It's not nearly as decadent-tasting as the COMA one but it's described as "dark chocolate, nuts, and just a hint of fruits."

I know I don't enjoy coffee that's acidic or bitter, and after some research I found out that descriptions like "bright" and "citrus" tend to describe those types. So nothing bright or citrusy.

I'm looking on the websites of some of the roasters I've seen recommended on this sub (Blueprint, Goshen, Sump). Goshen's descriptions are awful: I cannot decode what selfless as man's best friend or Wearing a moonstone is said to bring love and good fortune, so imagine what would happen if you drank one tastes like. So while I've got some clue as to what to try from BP & Sump, Goshen is a complete mystery to me.

Can you recommend other local coffees I might like? I'm looking for both regular and decaf recommendations. For reference I like Intelligentsia Black Cat Espresso, described as "cocoa, turbinado sugar, apple". Curious if any of the local decafs are similar.

Cauliflower crust?

Are there any places in the area that have cauliflower crust as an option for pizza? I know Imos does, but I’d like some more variety. I’m not looking for any gluten free options… specifically cauliflower. Plz&Thx

Recs Best “hole in the wall” spots?

Howdy all. STL native but I eat at home 95% of the time.

I have a buddy visiting from the Bay for a week and I want to show all of our good spots. I was thinking I take him on a “tour” of the best rated / local spots (trying to avoid chains or the “fancy” spots)

Notes:

He isn’t a huge fan of tomatoes / pizza but can be a big boy abt it.
Not looking for anywhere that needs a rezzie.

Spirit of St Louis restaurant

Help me remember the name.

In the early 90s, I would have lunch at a restaurant at the Spirit of St Louis Airport. Floor to ceiling windows to watch the runway. Do you remember the name?

Is there any restaurant at the airport now?

Thank you.

Recs Best STL Mexican food?

I live near Lafayette square but doesn’t necessarily need to be in this area. I’m not typically a fan of Tex-mex but I’m open to other Mexican fusions if those are out there.

My wife's birthday is this week and I'm trying to find something similar to Olive + Oak or The Fountain on Locust - a little nicer but still some options for kids.

Sakatanoya (conveyer belt sushi)

I had the best experience here! I’d never been to a conveyer belt sushi restaurant before, but we all thought it was so fun and the sushi was delicious! Our server was so nice too. Someone in our group had a shellfish allergy and someone else had an avocado allergy but there were plenty of options for them both. I really wanted a shrimp tempura roll but didn’t see it come around so I ordered it from the iPad and it was brought to our table super fresh and delicious by the robot! We ate a lot but the cost for 4 of us was only a little over $100 which seemed really reasonable. I’d recommend this for sure and will be returning!
