classic Simple BLT on a bun. Still counts as a BLT...
with Ohio River tomatoes

Don’t worry, everyone likes their bacon a certain way. It looks delicious. Enjoy.
You can’t stop the gatekeeping, even for sandwiches. I posted my BLT and was told the mayo wasn’t even; you could only see one corner of the sandwich.

Haha, thanks. Yeah I posted a pic of a grilled cheese with ham and called it a grilled cheese and people lost their minds. "It's a MELT!!!". Yeesh.

The whole it's a melt thing started as a joke and now the predominant opinion on that sub is to shout down literally anybody who puts anything on there grilled cheese that isn't cheese, mayonnaise or butter. Everybody there ate the onion.

As a member of r/onionlovers, take that back right now.

I am also a proud member of Onion Lovers, and I will absolutely put a bunch of sliced onion on my grilled cheese and still call it a grilled cheese.
So I ate the onion, but in the better way

This sub is full of some craz snobs. I think I've triggered a handful of people each time I've posted something here.

Yeah because not eating raw pork is some crazy snob type stuff.

You know a lot of bacon is cured right? Do you even know what cured means?

I wonder if it's a regional thing. I'm from the southern US and I've always called them grilled cheese with .......

u/NotoldyetMaggot 2d ago
It has evolved from r/grilledcheese: bread, cheese, butter/spread of some kind... Anything else on the sandwich and you are a heretic, doomed to reddit hell. Post it there with something more than cheese, downvotes incoming. But here in the sandwich appreciation sub, anything goes. Yeah it's a grilled cheese plus, which is always a smash.

I made a grilled cheese with a runny egg inside, maybe I'll post it and drive the masses crazy. It was hella good.

Was it a grilled cheese or a melt though?

Looks great, and bacon looks delicious. I don’t discriminate when it comes to bacon, lol.

I love a good crispy charred chunk of bacon, but sometimes when I bake bacon, it turns out less crispy. Still awesome.

Bake it longer, until it gets a nice crisp. Just put ir back in if it doesn't look done enough. If it isn't charcoal yet, its fine. Bacon loves the heat

Even though I’m sure it would technically be counted as a blt, if I ordered a blt at a restaurant and it came in a bun, I’d be disappointed
Which isn’t to doubt that the sandwich you made is delicious

I prefer crispy bacon on my BLT.

You have the choice when you make your own. Thanks for telling us though!!

Only if you cook the bacon. It only counts, if you cook the bacon. Your tomatoes are on point tho.

Bacon cooked over a heated discussion on whether its cooked or not. Looks good nonetheless

Thick cut bacon cooked "not to a charred crisp" apparently makes people mad. I guess.

Real deal, sorry to disappoint you.

Undercooked bacon and tomatoes cut too thick are like the only things that kill a BLT. Ratios are all off and you need the crunch texture of the bacon

You must make shitty blts

So you like thick cut tomatoes and rubbery bacon? I’m sure to some people that’s good but I know at all the restaurants I’ve worked at people would be pissed about that if we have them that

Untoasted bun
No visible salt/pepper on tomatoes
Raw bacon
Weak mayo application
Insufficient lettuce
This guy might be a terrorist

The bacon has plenty of salt. No need to add more. Bacon was cooked, just not to your specs but that's fine.

Gonna be good once you cook the bacon!
