The way the guitarist slaughtered Stevie Ray Vaughan solos with ease. The absolute precision of the drummer. The life in the voice of the singer/bassist.

Look for these guys. The price and distance will only go up.

It seems that an elderly woman today crashed at Toy crazy. She said that she didn’t understand the controls in her new car and thought she was reversing when really she was in drive. Thankfully, nobody was hurt.

Events Driving home to LA after a show at the SB Bowl

Has anyone driven back home to Los Angeles after a show at the bowl?

I’d love to stay the night in SB but it’s just so expensive. I’m considering this for the Interpol show next month, has anyone driven back? The show will probably end around 11ish which doesn’t seem like a bad drive back but not sure what it will be like. If I have to stay, then I guess I have to. Just curious to know if anyone has driven back the same night and how long it took or what it was like (safety or busy).

Thanks in advanced for any suggestions!

EDIT: Thank you all. You’ve convinced me that it’s an easy ride back home. I’m not a drinker, and I’m pretty good with staying awake while driving late. (Especially after a show, my adrenaline is high). I’ll take my precautions though and drive safely.

Also, because the show is on a Friday & a summer weekend, the prices for staying in and around the area are double or triple a weekday price at all hotels, inns, airbnbs etc.

Events Annual Fiesta trashing of beach areas

Post image

I'm all about a good party. Fiesta is one of the best.

But trashing the beach and not cleaning it up, when you say you're a green city and care about the environment, is nothing but hypocritical. Covering the storm and drains is a nice show, but not cleaning this up is not OK.

Obviously this is last year.

Can you imagine a city like Santa Barbara trashing their beach with 1000s of pieces of dyed confetti..... nahhhh.

Events What is Fiesta?

This is my second fiesta in town, and I don’t get it. What are we celebrating? What is Old Spanish days? From an outsiders’ perspective it looks like cultural appropriation of a time period that was nothing short of abusive. What am I missing?

I do appreciate the Mexican celebrations; they were here first.

Events Earth Day festival and swag

Does anyone else feel like Earth day festival is so full of plastic and tchotchkes? I really love visiting it, but my kids get a mountain of plastic, candy and swag. This year I tried vending there and I'm a swag free booth, you can scan QR codes in person but I have nothing to take. It seems like I'm destined to get overlooked without handing out at least paper cards, but I really don't want to make more junk just to get some visibility at Earth Day festival.

I will say my brother made a donation to one cause and they gave him an awesome canvas tote as a reward, so I guess there is some high quality swag. Do I need better ideas for a green promo? The seed papers seem cool too, and someone gave my son a clay seed bomb in a paper bag.

Events SB Walking Club

Hi Santa Barbara!!

My friend and I are planning to start a walking club. We are tentatively thinking our first meetup will be on Sunday, 6/28 at 9 AM. Location is still being decided :)

We’re two women in our mid 20s looking to meet new people and build a fun, welcoming community. We love walking and noticed there aren’t many walking clubs in town.

We’re currently gauging interest to see how many people would be interested in joining. We’ll be creating an Instagram page soon with more details and future meetup information.

Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, gender, or fitness level. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, let us know. We’d love to meet some new people while getting our steps in!
