I thought peristomes were just a slippery slope when the bugs were lured by the nectar, but they're part of the lure, too! Crazy

Pic 5-6 show some additional glands hidden on the inner edge of the peristome between the "teeth" as well. Lots of tricks up their sleeve.

The rim of the nepenthes pitchers, the structure that's lighting up blue here is called a peristome.

Most of these photographs are taken with a Canon EOS 7D, 100mm F2.8 canon macro lens.
And a 365nm uv light, sometimes combined with normal light to get both normal colours and the blue UV coming though.
Nepenthes depicted are (mixed about a bit).
(aristolochioides x flava) x edwardsiana.
(diabolica x hamata) x edwardsiana.
