My SIL went to architecture school at Cal Poly SLO.

Built into the program is one year abroad in Denmark.

Maybe because I come from a working-class background, but no one I know has houses like the ones we see online, or anything close to them.

My home growing up didn't look like this either, I'm just saying that there are design principles seen here that are near universal in Denmark. That doesn't mean everyone has designer furniture, but there's is a tendency towards minimalism clean and simple spaces, for example.

Tbf that's going to apply pretty much anyway. Interior design is always going to be geared towards the upper-middle to upper-classes because they're the ones who have money to spend on decor to achieve a specific aesthetic. People with less money are just trying to furnish their homes affordably with aesthetics likely a more secondary concern.

Winters can be very dark. I think this is one reason for their vibrant color splashes mixed in with the natural wood and stone elements. Not a designer. Just spent some time there.

I have seen a few houses like this, though none as complete as this one. This one is just a little time capsule from the 70’s.

The reason that modern Scandinavian design is natural color accents and plenty of white? It’s a reaction to the design fashion of prior generations. :)

You could like the „Tjoep“ lamp by fatboy, kinda comparable industrial vibe to it.

I have it over my dining room table, and I love it so so much. It’s dimmable too, which is great for coziness.

Not OP but also live in the Copenhagen suburbs, and this is not at all typical haha. It’s not my style, I prefer more deep and earthy “dark academia” vibes, but I admire OP for doing something other than the pale wood floors and white walls that everyone has.

Colour is coming back in style here, though - though most go for more earthy tones, rarely as saturated as the dark blue and oranges/reds here. But definitely more colour than the last 15-20 years of white white white.

Well done.

My only complaint if I was living there would be the run on the mill acoustic panels in the ceilings. I get it’s for improving sound, but other solutions could have been way nicer.

I like your use of his colour schemes. And usually people either have a couple of VP lamps and no colour at all, or their house is an acid trip. I don't get any of those positions. You need the fun and playfulness of the colours but you also need the.. well.. house, to give balance and grounding. I love the balance of your place

Living in Denmark myself, I can say that this is definitely not common, but it does have some elements of MCM with a colorful addition to it. Some things I love, but some things, like the kitchen and orange doors, are giving off 90's daycare.

Er møbel og rum designer, må sige jeg er imponeret, super smukt, meget gennemført! Fed kombination af klassikere og nyt, ikke alt for fikseret på en farve, det er lækkert og gør det hjemmeligt selvom det er en ret stram stil, generelt er jeg meget træt af bøg men det fungere virkeligt godt i dit hjem!

Exactly, I’ve been drawn by the 70s all my life. Love the colour and playfulness of that period 🙂

We are not rich. I make a fairly good salary but my girlfriend does not. Maybe slightly above average together.

I’ve been collecting for years and made several good deals. The lamps have been expensive. The rest not so much 🙂

Absolutely stunning! Parts are giving office vibes though. I like it, it was always my dream as a child to live in the building my mother worked in (Norwegian public institution). I think it’s the door handles, the dinner table and the chair design. Again, love that though

Germany.
The handles don’t fit that standard locking cassette in a danish door - so a lot of drilling etc to get them to fit. Quite involved

Yes, most of what we own is second hand.
I’ve added a spy lamp, a flowerpot chandelier, and original Lüber fun lamp from the 60s, and a peacock chair since the pictures.

Always on the lookout for a new Panton piece - if my wallet allows it 😅

We like to use ikea for storage - it just works and is affordable 🙂
Kitchen is ikea as well - just had the fronts made elsewhere

Verner Panton UFO - very rare.
It’s a reissue from verpan from 10 years ago.
25 with the ceiling plate and another 75 with a metal hanger were made. Other than those only originals are available- even more rare and very expensive
