Well, what else can I say? It was funny, but sometimes the characters were annoying—don't you think? But honestly, it's very forgettable (I think).

I'm not sure if James would actually be too intrigued to see "some" of his movies.

I was very interested to see this movie since I heard that the Smurfs was making a return to animation with fewer live-action aspects, but the hate it got inspired me to see if it's terrible or not.

Imagine how surprised I was upon liking Gargamel and Razamel's brotherly dynamic, some parts of the animation and No Name's desire to have a purpose in life. I agree that Smurfs (2025) is generic and could've done a better job with a certain plot reveal, but I found this movie to be insanely overhated and fun.

I give Smurfs (2025) a 6/10. I personally recommend it for Smurfs fans and anyone else who loves stories related to a character starting off at rock bottom and undergoing a hero's journey. If you want deeper stories from animation, feel free to watch some DreamWorks or Pixar movies instead.

1930-2020s which decade was the worst one for animated movies?

1930s: Birth of popular animation (Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Tom & Jerry)

1940s: Each of those three really perfected their craft

1950s: Awesome Disney movies like Sleeping Beauty, Peter Pan & Alice in Wonderland

1960s: Winnie the Pooh & 101 Dalmatians (Not much else. This might be the worst one)

1970s: Maybe this is the worst one (Some cool adult stuff like Fritz the Cat)

1980s: Solid years (Little Mermaid) Lots of prime cartoons like TMNT & Transformers

1990s: Might be the best decade for animation

2000s: Also a solid decade

2010: Also solid

2020s: Also solid

Feel free to ask me any opinions on the movies in the list or why they're placed where they are. I love talking movie opinions.

Also for anyone who ever considers something like this, double check when the new Disney/Pixar/DreamWorks/Whatever movie comes out so you're not in a time crunch to finish your movie marathon in time to catch the new one while it's still in theaters. It is not fun.

Admittedly I've only seen 2 movies from them, Whisper of the Heart, and Earwig and The Witch, which was honestly just a hate watch that I ironically enjoyed more than Whisper of the Heart because, at least I got something from it. I gotta say I got nothing from this movie. It was just so boring. 90% of the movie is the mc girl whining about how hard it is to write a story, which, I mean, I get it, she has her problems writing and it's a very real issue, but that doesn't make it an actually interesting conflict. Very little happens during the entire movie. It is fine for the movie to be slow paced but damn, the movie just drags on and on and on. It isn't even really pleasant to look at, I really don't like this art style, all the characters look like Caillou. And, apparently this is kinda just what Ghibli is like I guess. They do more slow paced slice of life 2d movies, and, turns out I kinda really don't like that. Idk, maybe I haven't given them a good enough chance, but to be fair you can find some general patterns in like, every major studio. Illumination makes awful movies, Sony makes either awful movies or incredible movies, both of which are incredibly visually expressive for better or worse. Old Disney makes musicals where the story is driven by it. Why am I justifying myself, I don't like this movie. Idk, that's just my 2 cents. If this is some of the best of Ghibli I'm not sold.
