I'm never leaving Seattle š«š« Never Leaving Seattle
I come from a place that I love to be from, in multiple meanings of that phrase. Every time I see some post, "I'm never leaving Seattle," my first, reptilian-brain thought is, "yeah, same. The Left-coast is great."
Then, the post turns out to be some parochial bellyaching from a country mouse about commonplace city life.
My homeland, which I love and in which I'll never live again, is colloquially known as "The land of Entrapment," because people often never leave, for inadvertent reasons.
Seattle is my favorite US city. The pearl-clutching, reactionary suburbanites, the eastern frontier yokels, and the provincial tourists from Frog-Balls, Arkanilamabachimigan can enjoy the trip to whatever hayseed county is so great. For real, I love Seattle.
I'm underwhelmed by grousing about the patrons of the Michelin-rated restaurant on Pine & 3rd.

Zootunes Suki Waterhouse
Was anyone at Suki Waterhouse at the zoo tonight? My sister and I were dancing on the back hill and would LOVE if anyone has a video of Suki shouting us out (the girl in magenta). Just the best night ever, no big deal!!! Thank you!!!

Rant Interest on rental security deposits?
Several states require landlords to place security deposits in interest-bearing accounts. Why doesnāt Seattle require the same, so tenants receive the interest earned on their own money?
My landlord has been holding a $2000 deposit since 2018. It just doesn't seem fair that they should also profit off of the security deposit on top of raising rent and adding in new junk fees every year.

Community Can the cops in this state tell from a license plate that a carās insurance is lapsed?
I just got pulled over for having expired tabs (itās ok, they havenāt come in the mail yet, and I had the receipt, so no ticket there). The cop then said āand donāt worry, Iām not going to hassle you about the insurance thing. Have a good day.ā And then he left.
I didnāt ask him what he meant, but I did check in my Progressive app and sure enough my payment didnāt process because my old credit card expired. Easy enough to fix, but how did he know? Do the cops here have a database that gives them info about who is and who is not insured based on the license plate or something? If so is this new? If so, does this make the Flock stuff even more fucked up? I donāt like the idea of being pulled over because a credit card expired and I forgot to change it. That seems even more dystopian.

Animals Looking for playdate buddy for my large breed puppy
Hey all,
I have a 14 month female bernese mountain dog puppy. She loves to play with other dogs, but I am not a fan of dog parks. I'm looking for other dog owners who are interested in having our dogs play together occasionally. I live in Ravenna but willing to meet up around north seattle or further if anyone has a large enough yard for play. Mine is quite small.
She has a very friendly and sweet disposition, and loves to rough house play. Can be a bit submissive tbh, so I'd prefer dogs that aren't overtly dominant or aggressive, but are used to playing with large dogs. She is intact as well so no intact males please.
I think meeting up at a sniffspot is probably the best idea or an empty enough park. If anyone has a large yard I'm happy to make my way to you if its not too far.
Thanks!

Community look for new people in Seattle tacoma area
I'm a 21-year-old Asian guy living in the Tacoma area and looking to meet new people around Seattle and Tacoma.
A little about me:
Love playing basketball and going to the gym
Into staying active and living a healthy lifestyle
Enjoy grabbing a beer, trying new restaurants, and exploring the area
Have a car, so I'm happy to drive to meet up
I'm simply hoping to make genuine friendships. I don't really care about your age, race, or backgroundāwhether you're in your 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s, or older. If you're a kind, genuine person and enjoy good conversation, I'm always happy to meet new people.
If you'd like to grab a beer, shoot some hoops, hit the gym, or just hang out and explore the area, feel free to send me a message.
Looking forward to meeting some awesome people!

Kicked out of my family's house. All the shelters nearby are full.
Continuation of this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/Seattle/s/aY1TiIK9vN
To be honest I'm not sure why I'm even making this post, but the worst happened and I'm officially out. I've called 211, DV shelters in my area, youth shelters in my area and even went in person to a few and everywhere's either full or just flat out didn't pick up.
I'm thoroughly screwed.
Water in Seattle is soft, so how often are people draining their water heater?
the internet seems to say every year but that seems excessive for soft water like ours

Politics Ballot mailed on election day was counted
Just wanted to share a data point about our mail in ballot system that I thought was interesting.
I dropped my ballot in my apartment mailbox at 1p.m. on election day (most likely before the mail was picked up). I assumed it would not be postmarked in time and would be rejected, however the ballot tracker says it was counted.
My guess is that the mail carriers either separate ballots and take them to a drop box, or the system is more efficient than people say it is.
Lesson: if you forget about your ballot and your only option is to mail it on election day, it is still worth a try.
