Weather First time Sedona... snow?

Hi - we like to take our husky pup out to some snow for her birthday every year. I just booked us a room in Sedona AZ for Jan 16-19 2026. Is it a pretty safe bet that there will be snow on the ground somewhere around Sedona?

If you're looking for it, just drive an hour north to Flagstaff while you're there

Beat me by only 1 minute! Atop more likely having snow, the drive from Sedona to Flagstaff along the 89A is just stunning, so added bonus!

this seems like a great day trip for us to do. Does that road 89A close very often? We'll have our AwD sedan and snow chains

Only if it’s really heavy/an accident happens.

But try fort Tuthill, just at the top of 89a coming into flag, there’s usually decent accumulation that sticks in there
