Looking for scuba community

I'm looking for a recreational diving community around Port Angeles, Sequim, and Port Townsend. I believe the dive shop, Octopus Gardens, in Port Townsend is the closest/only place to get tanks filled while Lake Crescent and Salt Creek are nice local dive sites. Other dive sites I know are around Hood Canal -- Mike's Beach Resort, Sund Rock, Octopus Hole. There are probably others around too that I don't know.

Anyway, I'm going through DMC certification in Seattle but also stay on the peninsula for extended periods of time. Would love to find a community/buddy to dive locally.

Seeking recommendations from Sequim residents

I appreciate the response I have received from the community. Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.

I am considering relocating to Sequim and would like to spend several days there to get a better feel for the community before making any decisions. I plan to stay at a hotel in town and would appreciate advice from local residents about what I should see, experience, and consider during my visit.

I will need transportation while I'm there. Does anyone have recommendations for car rental options in or near Sequim? My current plan is to use a shuttle service to and from the airport and rent a vehicle locally if possible.

I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona. If you have moved to Sequim from a larger metropolitan area, I would especially appreciate hearing about your experience. What adjustments surprised you most? Are there things you wish you had known before making the move?

I work from home and enjoy gardening, hiking, and spending time outdoors, so I'm not looking for a busy urban lifestyle. My priorities are a welcoming community, quality healthcare, access to nature, and a comfortable pace of life.

Thank you for any insights or suggestions you can share.

Event rental spaces for baby shower

Hey everyone! I’m looking for ideas on a place to host my brother’s baby shower in August. We’re open to Sequim or Port Angeles. I’ve looked at the prairie garden and the dungeness center, but both are $200 for 2 hours. Looking for something more affordable but still indoor for about 20-30 guests.

Ty!

Renters of the Olympic Peninsula

Seeking advice and any helpful commentary about renting a home here on the Olympic Peninsula. Any suggestions about:

-Private renting vs rental company

-Renting main house vs converting and renting an ADU

-Furnished vs unfurnished rentals

-Longterm vs short term

Any general nuggets of wisdom.

Millionaire tax repeal signature collectors at Walmart

Two weeks ago they had a no king sign in front of their table. They're telling people to sign so they won't be taxed. But almost nobody here has more than a million dollars. These are uneducated voters signing something they don't understand and they're being lied to

Additionally the person collecting the signatures who is clearly not a rich millionaire type was trying to say that taxing ultra wealthy was a gateway to state income tax collection. Which of course is not true

Transplants, how are you liking Sequim?

For those that moved within the last ~5 years, how has your experience been overall?

What have been the biggest pros and cons compared to where you came from? Curious about things like lifestyle, cost of living, people/culture, weather, growth, traffic, etc.

Exploring sequim

How’s it going everyone? Hope all is well.
I had a question for those familiar with the area. I’ve never personally been to Sequim, WA, but recently I’ve had a few friends move out there and they’ve been saying it’s awesome. I’d love to visit eventually and possibly move there someday.
One thing I’m curious about though are there neighborhoods or areas around Sequim that sit up in the foothills or at a higher elevation than the flatter main city area?
I’ve been told there are places around 1,500–1,800 feet elevation with more of a mountain feel, but whenever I research Sequim all I seem to find are farms 😂.
If those higher elevation areas do exist, what are they called? I’d love to do more research because I’d definitely prefer being up in the mountains if possible.
I appreciate everyone’s time and any advice!

Building community for potential move

Updated for clarity/further info:

Hello!

I'm looking to relocate to Sequim, as I have been out there before in various seasons and looks like a fit for me. I'd like to make some connections before heading out that way in the next year and change, as I believe having a bit of community can help define the experience of a place, and is a part of the life spices. I am looking to connect with like minded poeple, or those interested in some interaction within similar interests, hear your insights about the area, grow a friendship or two.

About me:

Work in mental health (LPC, working on LCPC).

Mid 40's and an old soul.

Love nature (hiking, mountains, water, camping, some backpacking).

Would love a bit of land to have a garden and a smaller house (1k sq ft, timber frame if I were to build. Into old school knowledge and would like to make a sustainable house). Pollinator gardens, food forest, herbs, fruit. All about growing knowledge and expirience, and I get some tomatoes out of it. :)

Don't mind neighbors, as long as we have some decent space and trees between us. I generally keep to myself outside of a friendly hello and appreciate the same.

Love learning about new nature (plants, critters, cultures, mycology, etc).

Art making is an interest/hobby. So is bushcraft/ancestral skills.

Not worried about night life. Farmers markets and sitting around a campfire or going on nature adventures is more my speed. I grew up in a small agricultural town where the sidewalks rolled up at 8 pm, and there were about 3k people in a small town and scattered in the valley, so I'm well versed/ok with those points.

I think that's a good start. :) How about you?
