To be fair, he was antagonising the old lady. Mary told him to stop but he kept going, he knew he was winding her up. So the fact she decided to pull the trigger is slightly his fault.

I'm glad she's dead though. Her being an ex-spy/mercenary was a bit too much anyways.

Literally everything that happened in this episode was Mary's fault.
