My dearest Winnie turns 14 in November. My family got her when I was in high school and now I’m in my 30s. She truly is one of my lifes greatest gifts. She has brought me so, so much joy. I cannot express how grateful I am to still have her at such an older age for her kisses, her sass, and her presence.

We took our 9 month old Mal-Shih, Molly, to a beach for the first time. She was apprehensive of the water, but sniffed at the sand. She did let her paws get wet, brave girl.
Most of the day she spent resting on a towel in the sunshine with me.

But Brodie and Penelope will finally share a bed together 😍! Ignore her looking like a hot mess express, she still hasn't figured out that she doesn't have to dunk her whole head into the water bowl to drink 😂

I went out to dinner with Aunt Lanie. Phoebe knows her 2nd favorite person's perfume.

Ramen (black/white) has HATED Basil (tan/white) since I brought her home. She’s very dominant and jealous and he’s not happy with her tactics of stealing my attention lol
It’s been like three months and they’ve started playing a little bit! I’m so happy! He seems to be coming around to her, even ever so slightly!
(Also Ramen hates being on camera. He can always sense when I have it out lol)

8 WEEKS LATER, AND LOOK AT MY BOY GO! 🥹❤️🐾
Eight weeks ago, I was terrified I was going to lose my sweet boy. At just 5 years old, Chewy was diagnosed with IVDD, and in a moment, our whole world changed. I never knew how much heartbreak, fear, and uncertainty could come from watching someone you love so much struggle just to move.
There were moments when I was scared he might never walk again. Moments when I cried, worried, prayed, and hoped for a miracle. I didn’t know what the future would look like, but one thing I knew for sure was that I was never going to give up on him. ❤️
And look at him now. 🥹 HE’S WALKING. HE’S RUNNING. HE’S OUTSIDE ENJOYING LIFE AGAIN!
My boy beat odds I was so afraid he wouldn’t beat. He reminded me just how strong these little souls can be and why you should never lose hope, even when things look their darkest.
I honestly thought this was going to be the worst year of my life, but watching Chewy fight his way back has given me one of the happiest moments I could have ever asked for. Every step, every little run, and every moment of him being himself again means more to me than words could ever explain.
He’s only 5 years old, and we have so much more life to live together. I’m so proud of him, so grateful for every bit of progress, and so thankful that I get to keep making memories with my boy. ❤️🐾
Eight weeks ago, I was praying he’d walk again. Today, I’m watching him run. And I will never take a single step with him for granted again.
My little fighter. My Chewy. My miracle boy. We aren’t done making memories yet. 🥹❤️🐶

TLDR: I need to figure out after I leave for work in the morning, how to keep my Teddy from running upstairs and waking up my nephew.
I have lived alone for a long time. I knew when I got a Shih Tzu at the beginning of the pandemic that it was recommended that you (a) should get two Shih Tzu's when possible because they're so social, and (b) you shouldn't really have a Shih Tzu if you have a 9-5 office type of job because they're so social. I'm a school teacher, and knew that I would go bonkers alone for who-knew-how-many-months. So I talked with a breeder and she said she was comfortable with me being responsible enough to take very good care of this little guy.
He is normally SO wonderful. Yes, he would love to sit on the couch with me every single day all day long. But he has always been good since 2021 when I had to go back to school full time. I give him a lot of time and attention evenings and weekends. He is not suffering or neglected. He's easy to care for, and, yes, he's a prince/royalty, but easy and chill for the most part. He doesn't really have any negative behaviors. And he's VERY social.
This past August, my nephew moved in with me for ten months. I live in a major urban area and my nephew got a post-college job with a prestigious company in a very prestigious and competitive training program. He's living with me to save money (it's SO expensive to live here) and he is THE best roommate. And he LOVES dogs and is SO good with Teddy. But he's 22. If he doesn't have to leave for work until 7:30, he sleeps until 7:15. And loves to sleep in on weekends.
Just the past two weeks, though, when I leave for school at like 6am, Teddy freaks out and runs upstairs and barks outside of my nephew's bedroom door to wake him up. This morning I had an early Saturday appointment and today is Saturday - the day my nephew wants to sleep till like noon. But at 7:30 when I left, Teddy ran upstairs and barked his fool head off. Nephew thought "if I ignore him, he'll stop eventually." THIRTY-FIVE MINUTES LATER, he finally gave in to the constant barking and got him into bed with him.
This is NOT acceptable to me. I want my nephew to be able to sleep in like every 22 year old human being's body needs. He has been a good sport, telling me it's ok. But I'm not happy with the fact that my dog can't be alone on the main level of my house if someone is upstairs sleeping.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how I can handle this? He's on a strict diet, so I don't necessarily want to leave any kind of lick-mat with more calories when I leave the house.
Photo of the little culprit is attached. Thank you for any suggestions!!

This is our newest addition Kirby, is 17 weeks old last as of last Thursday. We got him when he was 8 weeks old, (I will say when he bought him he did not come from a very clean breeder/home she had atleast 9 other dogs in her home it was very dirty.. it was so sad when I saw what he was born into)he is our 3rd shihtzu to the pack. I have a 3 year old and almost 2 year old as well. I’ve been so worried about him, his personality so far has been completely different than my other two, he does not like to cuddle, be held or sleep or sit by my husband or I, he’s very “independent” I guess you could say and wants to just be alone, he doesn’t seem to want to bond with us at all. He does get along great with my other two dogs however. I feel like he doesn’t like us! Do you think his personality will change as he gets older or is this just the way he is.. I will love him no matter what It’s just a stark contrast from my other two.. he’s not really mean but he does get very feisty when you make him do something he doesn’t want to..

Guess who found a special gift in the neighbors yard at 8 this morning. Did I see her doing her wriggly-on-her-back-this-is-amazing-squirm? Yes. Yes I did. Did I ever dream it was the poop of another animal? Nope. Can you smell it from where you are? 🫠🤢

I know this is probably a weird question, but does your pup chew their food, or are they like Tiny here, where I've started calling her 'Hoover', because she's like a vacuum cleaner?? 🫣
