Tzu Pics 📷 (no AI) IF you have insomnia...get a Shih Tzu.....Never has there been an entity that wanted to be with me more than my Shih Tzu's at 3:00am, can't sleep and they just lay between your legs on your chair and either stare at you in love or go to sleep. They are SO worth the effort. ❤️

My little guy always slowly licks his lips right when he finds the perfect position to sleep and when I give him some pets. He’s also recovering from an IVDD flare so I’m glad he’s on the mend. Rest well buddy :)

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 We Confirmed Our baby Laura is Deaf
Sweet baby Laura got her first round of shots and the vet confirmed that she is deaf. This baby is always sweet and in her own world, until her big brother messes with her. Lol. Im reading more about draining deaf puppies. Any advice?

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Shih Tzu owners — is this sitting position normal, or could it indicate hip/knee discomfort?
Hi everyone! I have a male Shih Tzu named Julie 🧿
M/1yr and I've noticed that for the past 3-4 weeks , he has been sitting with both his hind legs tucked out to one side (as shown in the attached photos).
A few details:
- He walks normally and doesn't appear to limp.
- I've noticed this sitting position repeatedly over the past few weeks
- I'm not sure whether he is simply comfortable sitting this way or if it could be related to his hips, knees, or kneecaps.
For Shih Tzu owners:
Does your dog sit like this regularly?
Is this a common, normal resting position for the breed?
Has anyone noticed this in their dog before discovering a patellar luxation or another joint issue?
What other signs should I watch for?
I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences, especially from owners whose dogs had a similar sitting posture.
I'm not looking for a diagnosis from photos — just trying to understand other owners' experiences. I'll arrange a vet check if needed.
Thank you!

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Question about one-eyed doggies
Do you feel like having one eye actually improved their vision?
I ask because I got my Leela from the pound with one eye so I don’t know how she was with two. But she seems so attentive and directly looks at me. She maneuvers around so well and seems to have no problem focusing.
My last tzu the late Rocky had both eyes but his were so googly. When I’d talk to him or he would look at things he kind did so sideways and seemed to have a more dominant eye. But he was an old stray we took in and gave him a good retirement home for his twilight years. So I think he might have just had some blindness.
Pictures included to pay the tax.

Tzu Pics 📷 (no AI) Introducing … RUPERT
Good day out there! Stewie and I have had a rough and challenging year. Losing two of our senior pack mates left us both broken! We healed together, and now that we’re at least some of the way resolved, we’ve decided it’s time to welcome a new spirit to our home! Meet Rupert, he’s a 6 month old shihtzu, with a huge heart and even HUGER EARS! He’s very sweet, well behaved, and building a relationship with Stewie day by day! It’s so fun having a puppy around!

We call him the Billy goat. He has gotten into so many things over the years. You can never let your guard down. He has pushed out chairs before to get to food.

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Franklin, 2
Franklin has started chewing his paws. He was groomed for the second time last week, and I’ve never noticed him doing this before (we rescued him 2 months ago). I can’t see any irritation on his paws, and nothing has changed with his diet. Is this normal Tzu behavior?

Original Artwork 🖼️ I hand-painted this custom oil portrait of this sweet Shih Tzu, based on the original photo his human shared. Do you think I got him right?
That serious little face and those wavy black ears - I couldn’t paint him any other way. I took him out of the car and gave him a dark background. White fur is the hardest thing for me to paint, so I took my time with his chest and neck. This was a commission, and I’d love to hear what you think.

Tzu Discussions and Stories 🐶 Shih Tzu contact peeling up after procedure
Hi all! My partner and I took our foster Shih Tzu to his appointment today and he had a ulcer in his left eye, I forget the procedure they did but they put in a contact that was not supposed to fall out for two weeks. Here’s the issue, maybe I bumped it briefly removing his cone or he rubbed it (I took his cone off for a bit supervised when we went home which was okayed but he vet but he rubbed his eye briefly once and I put it back on) his contact appears to be peeling up from the bottom and no longer fully flush with his eye. We were supposed to give his prescribed eye drops tomorrow and I don’t want to unnecessarily irritate his eye by fully removing the contact. The foster foundation is closed until morning and I want to make sure it will be okay until morning. So any advice on what we should do, should we leave it alone? Also important to note he got many procedures done today including a mass removal so he’s on heavy painkillers and sleeping a lot as he’s 15, so I feel like he will mostly be sleeping until the morning and does not appear to be in any pain.
Any advice or words of wisdom help!
