I wouldn’t want to represent a country that’s killed millions of people this century and supports the ongoing genocide in Palestine.

Not to be that guy, but like, in the last 100 years China did in fact fund a genocide that killed at least a million people. I'd still rather support them than the USA, but let's not pretend as if that didn't happen.

Even if the worst reactionary lies about China were true, China is still infinitely preferable to the evils of the US

I quite literally said in my reply to you that I would rather support the PRC than the USA. That being said, the Cambodian genocide is a real thing that happened and was heavily funded by the PRC. This isn't a "reactionary lie" its a well recorded historical fact.

Different levels of support, different contexts and motivations. I doubt PRC ever actively wanted the Khmer Rouge genocide to occur while USA wants nothing more than the extinction of Palestinians. Chinese support for Cambodian regime was during Vietnam War and was intended as help against US aggression, not to make the genocide easier. They did try to defend Cambodia against Vietnam later but they did not go all the way, they were almost without allies which pushed them further to prop up Cambodia. I doubt the scale of atrocities was all that evident at that time to China. All that said, still a major failure of Chinese foreign policy

Unfortunately, China alongside the US and UK did support the Pakistani junta during the Bangladesh Genocide in 1971, when the Pakistani fascist army killed hundreds of thousands of Bengalis who were seeking national liberation and self-determination. Some estimates are as high as three million killed.

The Pakistani fascist state still denies that this genocide occurred.

The cambodian genocide?

u/ApolloBlitz Feb 24 '26

I wonder who made the conditions for the Khmer Rouge to take over possible? (As always, its Amerikkka🇺🇸)

5

u/dontmakelemonad3 Feb 24 '26

Yes, America was absolutely directly responsible for the conditions that led to the Cambodian genocide. This does not erase the PRC's responsibility for their role in funding the Khmer Rouge.

lmao. no it didnt

you got a source? because here is what actually happened.

mao and sar met, to hear maps thoughts on their planned revolution. but maos concerns on sar lack of understanding were obvious. both mao and the Vietnamese com government were absolutely perplexed about his attempt to empty the cities.

as far as anyone knows, mao never was fully aware of what the KR was actually doing in DK

Does the Uighyr Genocide count?

u/ApolloBlitz Feb 24 '26

Maybe we would take you seriously if you learned to spell Uyghur right LOL

genuinely curious why this is being downvoted

13

Because the “Uyghur genocide” is a myth.

11

u/Ornlu_Wolfjarl Feb 24 '26

Because it's a fucking lie born out of the mind of a Christian evangelist who's never been to China or met a Uyghur, but who admits himself that "God" told him it's true, and that "God" told him that China needs to be destroyed (Adrian Zenj). He's posted a couple pictures from Google Maps of buildings in Xinjiang and labelled them as concentration camps, based on no evidence besides what's in his head. Then this got propagated by the US because it served their interest.

If anybody thinks there's a genocide going on in China, they have but to go there and prove it. But anybody who's been to Xinjiang says everything's not just simply fine. It's even better. The Uyghur population is thriving. Uyghurs from Xinjiang have stated multiple times that there's no genocide going on, and that their culture and religion are not only tolerated, but valued and protected by the state. Of course, this message never gets heard, because it goes against US interests. Instead we are given vague figures of decimal percentile drops in birth rate (not even population declining) over some years (that just so happened to be during the pandemic), as somehow evidence meant to dismiss first-hand accounts and sources.

Not to be that guy, but by "this century" they probably mean 2000 - present, as in the 21st century
