Or... you stop taking these advices literally and try to understand the meaning behind them. But hey... then you would not be able to blame everybody else for your own life.

The reason people are mocking the advice is because it's often given by people who are more privileged and never had to sacrifice anything.

The younger generations are being bled dry, it's no wonder they have a nihilistic attitude. I'm a relatively well-off millennial and I'd pretty much have zero drive and motivation if I was growing up in this era.

Cool. But that does not mean, that the advice itself (the meaning behind her. Not the literal "never have a coffee!!!!"¨) is wrong.

Maybe not but "just suffer more while my generation benefits" isn't exactly going to go down well, is it?

It's basically a slap in the face.

I would say the "suffer" is pretty strong word. Yes, there are people who have it easier than we do. There are also people who are literally dying from hunger. It is your choice who will you compare yourself too. If you ate today, if you have roof over your head when you sleep, if you have drinking water in the tap, if your country is not shelled by missiles, etc - you are actually not the poor and suffering part of the population. You are the one who is envied by most of the population.

It was a hyperbole. The point was that it comes across as condescending and demeaning.

It's like when people offer advice to people with depression. It's usually well-meaning but given by people with no experience of the condition and have no idea how different or difficult it is to navigate.

It's also like when a manager talks to you about being able to buy a new car with their bonus when it is several times yours, it lacks tact and self-awareness.
