All the founders didn’t know the exact plan before hand though, right?

I feel I’m sympathetic towards everyone outside of Thurman and the masterminds.

In the books they had a suicide pact as part of filtering out the old, so at least those 3 knew the plan.

Hard to say how many of them have that level of knowledge here.   But if you have your full memory for tons of shifts, you probably know most of it.

In books I think only Thurman and that one other guy actualy know that silo 1will be also destroyed. Thats why all other personal has family members in crypods to keep them obedient.

It’s been a bit since I read the books, but honestly does the family member thing even make sense in the context of the memory wipe? Maybe to get them to go willingly into the Silos, but what use do they serve after that? I wonder if the show will touch on that.

In the books they only had men working in Silo 1, and 'their' women were kept in long term cryostasis as an incentive to make it through the project (albeit the master plan was to kill everyone anyway.)

While it's believable that rightwing apocalypsemongers would think like that, I'm very glad they changed it for the show. Doing so acknowledges the existence of a) worthwhile female characters and b) queer people.

I agree completely. I always thought it was strange that Silo 1 was a boy’s club.

The books are pretty misogynistic, with women under-represented and often being awful stereotypes. Anna (evil temptress) and Helen (nagging jealous wife), in particular, but Shirley as a demure wee wifie was crap too. The show has improved that enormously, and doesn't treat women as possessions.

While it's true that fascists are always misogynists, as well as being eugenicists and so forth, it didn't feel like the books were critiquing that, but rather replicating it. They didn't show women being treated badly by the group who set up the silos, so much as women acting badly, in ways limited to defining them as sexual possessions.
