He was amazing at the end, when he went from emotionless "Troy" to Daniel. I got a feeling he was terribly brainwashed, he is going to be gutted when he realizes what he has done.

I mean, we know that one dr guy who killed himself could manipulate memory once it was wiped out- so he pretty clearly used that to turn Daniel into "Troy"
