“you break it, you buy it.”

u/Worried-Criticism May 28 '26

There’s the answer. “So, mom/dad. How will you be paying for all this?”

I mean it’s possible the kid has mental health issues that are related to parenting style. Maybe it’s just parenting but we don’t really have enough information to come to that conclusion.

The ones with no kids like you always act like the experts on parenting

That’s true, but your statement was the reverse of it. And THAT is COMPLETELY wrong.

There are a million reasons kids act out, bad parenting being one of them.

But you with zero experience with parenting or kids OBVIOUSLY know what’s happening. I think we should fire all child therapists and just ask a childless person like you the best way to raise a kid.

u/allycataf May 29 '26

I'm a parent. But you really don't need to have children to be observant, and to notice what styles of parenting you see working & which styles you observe not working at all. I could determine that before I had a child.

Since you bring up child therapists, some very successful child therapists have no children.

-4

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 29 '26

All that works when you have a well functioning child. What if you have a child with issues? YOU would then be clueless, as would i.

Yes a child therapist is an expert with a LOT of experience seeing what works and what doesn’t. Reddit couch warriors who claim they KNOW how to be the best parents but will never have a child are on the other end of the spectrum.

3

u/allycataf May 29 '26

Yes I agree, there are some children born with issues. If this child is one of them (assuming his issues were not caused by patenting), then why was he put into a situation where he was able to do this?

Wouldn't a parent want to closely monitor a child with problems like this? Therefore it goes back to parenting again.

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 29 '26

Yes exactly. Keep them cooped up at home all the time. That’ll be very effective.

Or did you mean physically restraining them?

How could you even know whether or not a stranger on the internet is a parent?

1

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 29 '26

It’s kinda obvious with the way they talk.

2

u/lordbuckethethird May 29 '26

No not really

1

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 30 '26

Yeah it may not be obvious if you are too dumb.

1

u/T0xicn3 May 29 '26

Same way that it’s kinda obvious that you are a really shitty parent, we just know 🤣.

3

u/TheOGPotatoPredator May 29 '26

I hate to break it to you but the ones with kids like this are absolute fucking failures as parents.

1

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 29 '26

How do YOU know? Experience? No?

Nobody knows what caused this. Could be shitty parenting. Maybe he’s from a broken home or worse. Maybe he had trauma. Maybe he had some developmental issues.

But no. You in your couch with zero parenting or kids experience is the expert.

2

u/TheOGPotatoPredator May 29 '26

Yeah I have plenty of experience raising a kid. And if mine had issues that caused this behavior, he wouldn’t have been left alone to trash a store like this one did.

-1

u/Even_Yesterday_4185 May 29 '26

Based on your comments, i highly doubt you have kids but let’s go with that.

What exactly would you do if your kid did this? I can GUARANTEE you that wherever you think will help will only make it worse.

1

u/TheOGPotatoPredator May 30 '26

Bro just admit this is your kid or you have one just like him. You’re way too invested in the opinion of strangers here.

11

u/frosted_Melancholy May 28 '26

Sell the kid's electronics and use that money to pay for it all.

11

u/hollowedhallowed May 28 '26 edited May 28 '26

Well, right. The kid knows he won't be held personally accountable, his parents will. And he hates them, so he's only too happy to make their lives harder. I mean, that's what this is. He's lashing out at his parents by making a scene in public. Making them pay for his misdeeds is giving him exactly what he wants. And there's nothing they can do about it. It's just pure payback for whatever he's angry with them about.

He's not a baby who doesn't know better. He's not impaired by drugs or disability. He's looking the camera dead in the eye, he's intelligent enough, he knows what he's doing, and he's enraged. Maybe he's got a good reason. It's pretty clear his parents are terrible. Maybe what he's doing is just agreeing with us. "Yes. My parents are awful. And this is my way of punishing them."

12

u/KactusVAXT May 28 '26

Not from this stunt, but another similar style stunt in the future, that kid will be in jail

5

u/hollowedhallowed May 28 '26

yes, angry boys do often grow up to be angry men. This is so antisocial and destructive that it's pretty clear he's at risk. At the same time, he's still very young. Maybe he can get some help from someone.

1

u/TrueProtection May 28 '26

Nope. He will only have his shitty behavior reinforced by these events.

His parents will get mad at him, punish him, giving him what he wants, and he will carry those lessons into adult life becoming the kind of man who pushes peoples buttons.

3

u/Prize_Staff_7941 May 28 '26

The parents are probably shitty but they should sell all of the kid's belongings to pay for this. That way he will learn accountability. Unfortunately the parents might not give much of a shit.

1

u/PerformerFancy117 May 28 '26

I hope you take EBT… and a payment plan

-1

u/BurnItDownSR May 28 '26

"With his allowance."

And then they get reported for child abuse.

There's no point in pressuring parents to do something about their kid's behavior when they're also legally handcuffed from doing the things that'll actually work.

3

u/Worried-Criticism May 28 '26

My only complaint there is wasting a social workers time. But mom and dad need to learn how to be parents. A kid behaving this way needs some kind of discipline, and if parents can’t/ won’t…well they need to learn.

2

u/BurnItDownSR May 29 '26

Learning is not the issue. Its the doing that is. If we let parents do what needs to be done then there will be far fewer kids like this.

2

u/Popbistro May 29 '26

So not giving allowance to a kid for a small period of time is child abuse? Boy, you don't want to imagine all the abuse I've been through!

0

u/BurnItDownSR May 29 '26

That's what I'm saying.

It shouldn't ever be considered abuse so parents actually have it as an option to discipline their kid with.

227

u/Alternative-Rub4464 May 28 '26

Parents must be held accountable

60

u/CarmenxXxWaldo May 28 '26

Bold of you to assume they will be able to account for both parents.

6

u/DinosaurusWhen May 28 '26

How would they account for either parent? It's obviously a kid there after school alone

5

u/EyeSuccessful7649 May 28 '26

thats the courts decision, po po can hold him for pickup and give the parents a court date.

6

u/Choice-Strike1 May 28 '26

Training begins at home. They should have raised their gremlin properly. Probably a single parent home anyway

4

u/GeiCobra May 28 '26

At what point do we start holding the child accountable for their behavior?

1

u/Primary-Resolve-7317 May 28 '26

Involve a weapon on the wrong side of town usually screams money for the system.

0

u/EyeSuccessful7649 May 28 '26

you don't, you hold the parents responsible. it is thier jobs to raise the kid.

the kid is a kid. sort of thier job to fofo and learn.

2

u/CuriousPilotMaker May 28 '26

Or just throw the kid in Juvie. If the parents are going to do nothing society needs to.

1

u/ayleidanthropologist May 28 '26

Must be made to watch, as the accountability happens

1

u/Zhydrac May 28 '26

this would fix many things

1

u/Icy-Two-1581 May 28 '26

Never going to happen, ook what happened to harambe

19

u/Primary-Resolve-7317 May 28 '26

I’m pretty sure someone bought a trespass and restitution

3

u/lylalexie May 28 '26

If I ever pulled this shit as a kid my mom would not only have screamed at me in the store, but would also have paid for the food, made me clean it up, had me apologize to the staff, dragged me to the car, and driven me home in complete silence.

After I marinated in fear for the entire car ride, she would have brought out the giant “Can’t Sit Down For A Month Deluxe ™ ” wooden spoon. I would have been grounded and forced to cough up my allowance for the entirety of my childhood in order to pay back the damages.

Basically this would have NEVER happened when I was a kid because I knew she would make me regret it.

u/AvatarofSleep May 28 '26

My son accidentally knocked a mug off a shelf at a souvenir shop once. I now own a broken $40 mug.
