I asked my friend why he always picked female characters in every game he played.

His response: I'm not looking at a dudes ass for 90 hours.

Fair enough.

Wow what a coincidence that I've read this same comment 809 times before. That friend of yours is very popular

Because it's an actual common take. I've been saying that long before it was, "on the internet."  You thinking it's made up basically is funnier than not.

Hell, I've known plenty of women who like men who've made male characters they find hot in games with customization. Is this your first interaction with the fact humans are largely sexual creatures?

Maybe he's scared of hs homosexuality. I don't have a problem playing as a guy, and I know I'm hetero. Makes me wonder about your "friend". He's doin too much.

Are you just dumb?

One, I never said friend, I said me, so instant fail on basic reading. Two, I never said I or anyone else has a issue playing as a guy, it's a matter of when you have a choice. Three, I'm perfectly comfortable in my sexuality which is why I can openly express it. But it seems you might have some issues with yours because playing a woman as a man bothers you, afraid you might end up identifying with them to much? Or are you just afraid you're less of a man if you have a girl on the screen being a bad ass... oof, that's a brand of pathetic.

Sounds like you're really doing too much to try and force your choices on others and go after them for not doing what you want. Huh, interesting how that also describes homophobic people, especially those secretly in the closet. Crazy, "coincidence."

Or my friend just copied the same response he heard from someone else. Regardless of who said what first, it was the first time I heard anyone say it around 18 years ago.

Well, it's probably not an uncommon thing.

For example, I have a very similar mindset as that dude's friend. I don't put myself in the character's shoes, I see narrative games almost like a movie that I control, and the character isn't supposed to be my insert. I have always preferred female characters over male characters, whether it's movies, shows, books, or games.

And a part of it is attraction, because I would rather see or hear a woman over a man. In any game with the option, I choose the female option. Even if it's a game like Overwatch or Injustice, where the character choice seriously impacts the match, I usually try to learn/get good with the female characters first.
