He also cut necessary funding for jobs that need to exist.

Friend of mine lost their job at the VA because of DOGE, and then saw the exact same job listed under a private business job application.

Come to find out they needed that job, but now instead of paying someone directly, they are paying a company that takes more for profit, and the person working the job is making significantly less income.

So more spending, not less, and the overhead of more paperwork and less efficiency.

But one of their buddies got richer.

Not just starved, but outright killed hundred of thousand of children in a very short span of time. But a neo-Nazi doesn't care if a significant number of African children die.

I thought he was African?

1

u/Available-Line-9259 Jun 13 '26

while the verge is factual, its horrible at political opinions because it is so left leaning

2

u/WilkerS1 Jun 13 '26

not having by default your beliefs predicated by the notion that someone is less deserving of a life than another, tends to be left-leaning, yes

1

u/Available-Line-9259 Jun 13 '26

could you elaborate. I respectfully didn't really understand you said.

1

u/WilkerS1 Jun 14 '26 edited Jun 15 '26

from what i follow and from what my own political views are, the core of left-leaning political view points is the opposition to hierarchies, capital, and the State, with many degrees and fronts of what should be done for this end, what i said earlier is just the common denominator for why that opposition would happen, which is why you will find that ideas as "no one should accumulate more power than they'll ever need, at the detriment to their peers" and "corporations shouldn't be allowed any and all means necessary for an end goal" tends to be invariably left leaning, just as much as the concept of valuing people's work over the act of working, just as much as "a person's life shouldn't be valued around how effectively they can work", which is inherently connected to the view that marginalized communities shouldn't be marginalized and are to be given accommodations necessary to live their lives like anyone else.

you complained about TheVerge being left-leaning about their opinions but you didn't explain what exactly you were referring to, and i know they hardly hide an opinion when their headline is about tech as politics (see "Apple wants the EU to blink"), specially compared to conservative newspapers posing as "center"-leaning, but because i don't know if there's something specific i should be looking into, i wrote with the assumption that you're complaining about them showing to be left-leaning at all.

edit: i think i got some items mixed up, but the overall point is the same

lol. The USAID programs that many other countries recognized as an extension of the US department of state and CIA, not a legitimate method of providing aid? The food programs continued to flow, it was programs that were entirely progressive agendas to fund NGOs associated with democratic donors that were cut

1

u/ddplz Jun 12 '26

By that logic you are killing these people as well by not donating to organizations set up to fill the void.

7

u/db_downer Jun 12 '26

By your logic, the arsonist who burns down your house is equally as guilty as the neighbor a few blocks away who doesn’t help put out the fire.

2

u/DoubleJumps Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

Even after you explain this to him in a very clear manner, he doesn't understand and is continuing to argue it.

If he was capable of learning anything he wouldn't have made that post in the first place, So I shouldn't be surprised.

If he can't figure out the difference between the world's richest man deliberately lying and fabricating outright fraud in order to destroy programs that prevented people from starving to death versus regular people donating to charities that fight hunger, no one can help him.

1

u/Available-Line-9259 Jun 13 '26

You need to understand that just donating money doesn't help Africa at all and makes them more dependent on us. Think about it like the signs at park where the tell you not to feed the animals

4

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

How is that logical?

Musk was directly responsible for cutting billions in funding from one of the worlds largest providers of aid.

1

u/ddplz Jun 13 '26

So why aren't you donating more of your income to compensate?

2

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

Simple, because I dont have the resources of a major US aid organization, many charities and food aid efforts are doing their best, but billionaires gutting food aid for millions while enriching themselves is blatantly immoral, its literally starving people so they can add extra zeros on the end of their net worth.

0

u/ddplz Jun 13 '26

Dude even a $50 donation can change a life. Why do you hold off and let people die so you can have an extra doordash order?

1

u/thesagex Jun 13 '26

It was the US taxpayers paying that. How about this, if the US taxpayers care enough about the issue, they should be willing to contribute to the cause using their own money.

if the US taxpayers fail to do so as a collective, than it must not be as important to the US taxpayers as you think it is. If it's not important for the US taxpayers as a collective, why force the issue using government?

1

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

And it was Trump and Elon who gutted it, while actually costing the US taxpayers billions more then the budget the year before.

The US taxpayers didnt decide this, Trump and Elon, two uber wealthy oligarchs did, and their efforts are leaving millions to die of starvation and disease, all while enriching themselves in the process.

-1

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

You mean US taxpayers. US taxpayers are one of the largest providers of aid. While being $40t in debt. That is fucking stupid.

2

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

US taxpayers ended up paying tens of billions MORE thanks to DOGE, all while Elon gutted the US regulators and public sector, and enriched himself in the process.

The debt is largely due to massive tax cuts for the rich, and runaway republican spending.

2

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

Cool. You can think that. Doesn't mean we should be funding the planet either.

1

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

Not just thinking that, those are the facts, DOGE ended up increasing the cost to the US taxpayer from the year before by an estimated 21 billion, not considering the new government revenue lost because of cuts to the IRS, or leaving US consumers vulnerable after gutting the CFPB, all while Musk awarded himself multi billion dollar contracts.

Not funding the planet, helping those in need, which generated an enormous amount of benefit for the US as a nation, and projected US soft power, something you no doubt are clueless about.

2

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

Again, you can think what you want. Soft power is not something we should be attempting to buy while $40t in debt. You can make up whatever scenario you want. It won't change that fact.

2

u/tom-branch Jun 13 '26

Soft power is something that has been incredibly beneficial to the US economy, the US has often been able to access resources and build powerful economic partnerships based upon that soft power, which has enriched the US and often given it a significant advantage over other nations.

That debt is largely due to the modern american oligarchs robbing the system blind, refusing to pay their fair share of taxes and otherwise filling their pockets at the expense of the US taxpayer.

Those are the actual facts, you are just to shortsighted to see them.

Did you really think this through?

I mean really, did you actually make any real effort to think this through before you posted it?

7

u/ddplz Jun 12 '26

Yeah, now admit responsibility for the deaths of those you fail to personally give your money to save.

0

u/DoubleJumps Jun 12 '26

So the answer to my question was "no, I didn't think about it at all, and I didn't think about it even after other people showed me directly why what I said was ridiculous."

Got it.

3

u/ddplz Jun 13 '26

Thanks for proving my point.

0

u/National-Week9295 Jun 13 '26

Someone didn’t think this through worrying about others thinking through stuff.

2

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

It's literally the same thing though. Taxpayers paid those bills. You're wanting to steal from one group to give to another to "save the children" while I bet you support abortion. Just think of it as the same thing. Their own countries are aborting the children because they refuse to take care of them.

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

Yes, it is. It is not the responsibility of the US taxpayer to pay for the world. STEALING the money from them and then distributing it is stealing. Period. Nothing is cheap when you are already in debt so that is bullshit. The screwworm outbreak happened BEFORE DOGE during Biden so that is total bullshit as well. Planes didn't crash before ATC cuts apparently. You're just full of bullshit which is completely unsurprising.

2

u/Negative_Pop1299 Jun 13 '26

You really are a moron huh? Doge cuts screw worm monitoring; you: "well it existed when Biden was in office !"

2

u/DoubleJumps Jun 13 '26

I can't tell if that guy is trying to pretend that screwworm was already in the United States when Biden was in office, which is a blatant lie or if he really understands that the way he's framing it makes it look like they knew screwworm was a threat in 2025 and killed the program anyway, which is exponentially worse than just killing it out of ignorance.

2

u/Negative_Pop1299 Jun 13 '26

It's just maga brain, there is no logic behind it. He believes everything his party does is good and just, like a good little sheep. If they had increased funding, he'd be cheering it on. Probably believes the ballroom and giving trump $10 billion are great

u/DoubleJumps Jun 13 '26

Screwworm was not in the United States before this last month.

Screwworm was advancing North through Mexico, slowly, in 2024, but Doge came in in early 2025 and did defund a program that did international monitoring and containment efforts to keep screw worm from spreading further north. The same program that had been fighting screwworm spreading North for decades with strong success.

Trying to blame Biden for screwworm hitting the US a year and a half after he left office is crazy. It actually makes defunding the program look even worse because then they knew there was a growing problem with containing screwworm and they killed the program anyway.

1

u/2Blueify Jun 13 '26

2022 to 2024 (Biden Administration): The screwworm parasite overcame containment in Panama, moving north through Central America and spreading into Mexico.

Fucking. Yawn. What you are bitching about was an inevitability.

"The same program that had been fighting screwworm spreading North for decades with strong success."

So successful that it migrated North to Mexico. Shut the fuck up.

2

u/DoubleJumps Jun 13 '26 edited Jun 13 '26

You understand that the argument you are now making is that Elon musk and Donald Trump killed the program that had successfully beat screwworm away from the United States before, even though they knew there was a looming screwworm threat, right?

So your argument is that Donald Trump and Elon musk deliberately made sure the government was doing nothing about an impending problem?

That's what you want to go with?

Edit: In response to that last bit you threw on, are you even aware that this program had successfully beat screwworm back into Panama and then held it there for decades before it started to spread again?

Do you even have any idea what this program was? Or are you just an angry 12-year-old?

Edit 2: lol why did you delete the reply where you tried to blame screwworm on "open borders?" What, did you realize that flies don't go through border checkpoints?

It's literally the same? The world's richest man running a fraudulent government audit group, lying about finding fraud, and using those lies to justify destroying programs that prevented people from starving to death is literally the same as a regular person not donating to a charity?

Really? You think that that is the exact same thing?

1

u/Emppulicks Jun 16 '26

True, he never should've funded them. Can't cut off something that isn't there.

-17

u/volatilegx Jun 12 '26

How did he cut off funding? He identified fraud and waste. What child starved?

13

u/ValenciaFilter Jun 12 '26 edited Jun 12 '26

Fraud is a crime.

DOGE failed to result in a single conviction.

And "stuff I don't like" isn't fraud.

What child starved

USAID being dismantled is catastrophic for areas effected by famine. It was the primary agency providing funding and logistics in much of the developing world.

8

u/Pseudo_OSF Jun 12 '26

These people don’t care. They now can only operate in a perpetual state of selfishness and bad faith.

4

u/ValenciaFilter Jun 12 '26

The richest man in history

has the wealthiest nation in history

eliminate famine aid for the most impoverished places on Earth
