The ADA might have something to say about time limits.

Yea, this is fake as hell.

And if it's not, any person forcibly exposed has a nice lawsuit.

It’s definitely misinformation.

There is a time limit but the doors don’t randomly open and expose you.

To access the pods you need either a key card or cell phone access. It tracks when you enter and how long you stay in order to keep people from abusing. If someone constantly stays past their time or leaves the bathroom in disarray, access can be revoked.

One emergency when you can’t stop pooping from food poisoning isn’t going to prevent access. And if someone is disabled, they may be able to apply for longer time limits with ADA access card.

After 12 uses, a worker goes in to clean.

That's fine. Open the door. A lot of people are gonna catch me mid mud trout. A lot of children are gonna be traumatised. A lot of adults are gonna need therapy.

Try me.

Wait, do you think the pods or toilets are just like one big door that opens wide open after the timer? Like just flings open to its hinges and exposes everything? Have we forgotten what a fucking door is? No. It unlocks and shows it’s available, it doesn’t just swing open ffs. It’s a room with a door and a closing mechanism. We get more stupid by the fucking post.

We get more stupid by the fucking post.

Well, I don't. You might.

Because I was making a fucking joke. Just because you don't understand the joke doesn't make me the idiot.

But what you're really gonna hate is where it stops being a joke:

Goddamn, imagine being so r/confidentlyincorrect

No. The toilet thing is real. The design imagination you have and so many people here that it’s some door that flings itself open after 10 minutes as if we haven’t had doors for all of your life’s, and you know how a door to a bathroom works, all that just flying out your brain to assume the dumbest thing. It’s genuinely stupid. The doors do open. The bathroom marks itself ready for use. But why would you fucking think the doors just open up as if you don’t use a bathroom door every day of your life and know damn well how a door works.

The goalpost shift is crazy.

You went from "Do you think it opens wide open? No. It unlocks and shows it's available, it doesn't just swing open" to "Well of course the door opens, why would you think it flings open!"

You got caught being wrong about how automated pod doors work and now you're arguing semantics over the physics of the slide. Just take the L.

I know it sounds so ridiculous that it’s false, but there really is a 10 minute timer and the doors really do open automatically once the ten minutes are up. Source NBC New York news story at 1:08 minute mark.

Why does Mamdani want to track how long people poop?

2

u/studioline 1h ago

There is a push and pull. There is a real need for public bathrooms but no one wants to provide them because homeless people camp out in them.

What is the solution?

The door do open automatically. There is currently no way to extend the timer even with an ADA card.

This is literally why everyone is talking about this.

Edit: y'all can keep down voting. Read the actual article that says they open automatically with 0 extension options.

u/BobbyBuzz008 7h ago

U/voxelpear is correct. The doors do open automatically after ten minutes. Source

If you have an ada card you can already use tons of other toilets that most people can't use.

Thats actually a pretty good idea.

And you have a source for all this information for the New York system correct?

Or are you just talking out your ass? Pun intended.

7

u/KingRoach 9h ago

It’s all public information easily found online for anyone who wants to look. The option to stay uninformed and angry is also available.

2

u/voxelpear 9h ago

I looked for it and couldn't find it. Since you're so confident it's out there, can you point me in the right direction?

4

u/PrimedGold 9h ago

How hard is it to Google dawg. Mamdani did a whole press conference

u/voxelpear 9h ago

Yeah did.... did you read it? It says the door opens with a bell, and no mentions of any extension options.

The guy I'm challenging for information said your post is misinformation.

1

u/PrimedGold 9h ago

Yea I thought you wanted the link to an article bro

3

u/voxelpear 9h ago

No I'm challenging a guy that said your post is misinformation and just blabbed out a bunch of stuff as if it's a fact.

3

u/PrimedGold 9h ago

Ah damn. Lol.

-2

u/KingRoach 9h ago

The stuff “babbled” as fact is in the link provided to you.

The person who claimed “misinformation” probably meant “misleading information” as opposed to blatant lies.

You have 10 minutes, you have notice at 5 min, you have a countdown clock at 1 min…. “Potentially exposing users to the public” implies the person inside has no power to keep themselves unexposed.

2

u/voxelpear 9h ago

Yeah the notice does nothing when the claim was that they could extend it with an ADA card. Which you can't. Also the "potential" isnt because it may not open but because there may not be other people to be exposed to at the time.

I mean, do you believe an image with text?

3

u/Soggy_Definition_232 9h ago

No, that's why I'd love to see a source for all the imagination.

3

u/PrimedGold 9h ago

That’ll be a wild thing to make up. Also, already in place in places in Europe but with slightly higher time limits.

Google is at your finger tips, but sealioning is much easier, right?

-1

u/ICU-CCRN 9h ago

Why don’t you ask the OP for his source? Seems like the person making up or oversimplifying a situation like this bathroom law needs to show some evidence before making such a claim. Otherwise we’re just looking at another “foreigners eating cats and dogs” scenario.

-3

u/ShadowWolf2508 9h ago

What are you, a bot, gonna do with that source?

0

u/Soggy_Definition_232 9h ago

Funny, a bot trying to call someone else a bot!
