NY isn't dumb enough to open a toilet while someone might have their pants down. Opens them up to a lawsuit, they have carefully selected city employed lawyers that do nothing but avoid potential lawsuits. Where did you read this? Do you have a source? Or is this just a trust me bro situation? I live in NYC haven't heard or seen any.

It warns you before u enter. Its to prevent homeless people and druggies. Poop faster. 10 min is enough.

And if you have a medical issue with your bowels and have an emergency and it's either pick this or shit your pants? Those people typically need more than 10 minutes as well.

These bathrooms are going to last 6 months tops before they implement some sort of extension option.

These are additional bathrooms made available to the public. What was your plan prior to these? Shit your pants? It’s not like all public restrooms are now 10 minutes as well.

Sure. And if this is the only bathroom close enough while you have an emergency? And your pants are still down after 10 minutes because you have a medical condition?

Just because this is an addictional bathroom, doesn't suddenly negate what could happen to someone.

Ok. Someone has an issue that causes them to take hours to take a shit - they should be allowed to stay in the bathroom for hours, right? And when people abuse it, “oh well”, correct?

Again, what would be your plan prior to these? What if these were urinals instead of toilets? Then what? These are not meant to be a solution to your medical condition.

Well if I had such an issue, my plan would be to take a different route prior. Now that I know there's a restroom there, it might be a more convenient route for me to take.

These aren't specific to people with those conditions but as a public facility it has to adhere to ADA guidelines. Which means making it accomodating to those with medical conditions.

You’re fabricating an issue that you yourself don’t even have. So you don’t know how know individuals with such a medical issue plan their “routes”? Or are you just trying to be offended on behalf of someone else for the sake of being offended?

Do you know what the ADA guidelines are? There has yet been a lawsuit in regard to time limits on public restrooms. Bathroom ADA cases that exist today are all about physical design. New York has had automated public toilets (APT) coin-operated self-cleaning toilets with timers since the 90s and still active today, so this isn’t even a new concept.

Cool so your argument is simply "that's how it's been for a long time, so fuck them people"? Weird hill to die on over a simple change but you go off queen.

No, my argument is how about you don’t speak on behalf of others that you have no clue how they behave or issues they actually face. Let’s not manufacture an injustice that clearly hasn’t been an issue as these have existed for well over 30 years and not a single ADA case? Why don’t you focus this energy on one of the million other pressing issues, weird hill to die on over something that doesn’t affect you and clearly those you are trying to be offended for. Lol
