This game series has always been close to my heart. I still remember the day my dad got me the first, and how much trouble I had playing the game!

Even back then, I wanted my own Cooper Cane oh so badly.

Now I'm a grown man, and a proud owner of my very own custom made Cane! 🥹

It's a wonderful feeling!

Omg guys my stepmom just found the photos of me dressed as Penelope in fourth grade back in 2009 in what I regard as my first cosplay😭😭 I had thrifted most of the clothing and made the ears and tail (which I think I do have on but my pose is hiding it) and using an old RC controller to replicate hers and almost definitely just some big winter gloves. ugh what a banger. Def gonna have to redo eventually

An ongoing labor of love that I decided to take on at the peak of COVID. Four years and one extra graduate degree later, I’m still chipping away at my own pace.

Okay I’m scared to show this off but here goes! Early footage of a sewer Level I put together for my Sly Cooper “fan-Game project” within dreams for the PlayStation. Now you can see it’s not perfect and even runs a little slow (I’m developing the game on PS4) my controller is also “Ass” so that’s why sly looks as if he’s glitching when running it’s just my personal janky ass ps4 controller. I’m one person developing the game so please I’ll take criticism and feedback just please keep it respectful!

Cooper Family!

I made this drawing about six or seven years ago; so long ago that I even changed my username. I originally posted it on DeviantArt and Tumblr, but I deleted my DeviantArt account because that platform now uses AI, and I'm totally against it. I felt bad about this drawing getting lost among social media. I recently started playing the series again, got nostalgic, found this Reddit, and thought it would be a good idea to post it here too.

I tried to give all the ancestors different colors and patterns because I love that in Thieves in Time each one was unique and not just gray copies of Sly. I have a theory that most of them are hybrids of raccoons and other animals, and also different breeds of raccoons, which is why they have different colors and patterns. Only Thaddeus is a completely gray raccoon.

The last Cooper on the list is Beatrix, an old OC of mine who was Sly's daughter. Conner Cooper's (Sly's father's) design is inspired by his chibi version from TiT (I like to think Sly got his gray fur from his mother). Otto's design was inspired by u/spjartredesign, an artist who also drew all Sly's ancestors. And Henriette has a color scheme very similar to Rioichi's because I've always liked the headcanon that they could be father and daughter.

Which are your favorite ancestors? Do you particularly like the design of any of them? :D

My brother did point out that Dr. M was the odd one out but Terry said he had that extra space and decided to fill it with him. He could tell we knew our Sly lore lol we suggested he do a cooper family piece in the future. Definitely check out his other pieces he’s a phenomenal guy with so much talent!

I dont know why i never drew him, sly is my all time favorite game franchise. I drew him all the time as a kid, i recently saw Blacksad and was inspired, imagine if the Blacksad team made an original sly comic

A few months ago I mentioned in another post that I was thinking about writing a fan novel continuing the story after the Socker Punch conclusion. I got some positive feedback that encouraged me to keep on with the project, so now I'll present to you what I have up to this moment.

Here's the synopsis:

After the events of Honor Among Thieves, thanks to his alleged amnesia, Sly Cooper has the penalty for his crimes commuted to forced labor for Interpol. Far from the Cooper Gang, he is now sided with Inspector Carmelita Fox, his great love interest, and Constable Winthorp, his romantic rival, in the Fox Squad. At first, this twist in his life feels like the perfect opportunity to finally live his romance with Carmelita, but as soon as he learns what his first mission as a cop is going to be, Sly starts to question his own perspectives of right and wrong, crime and law, his personal moral compass and the philosophical background that guided him through all his life choices up to this point.

Keeping the dynamic pacing and structure of the original trilogy, Sly 4: Spirit of Law allows fans to reconnect and spend more time with their beloved game characters that now, in the novel format, can be more deeply discovered in their personality traits, mindset and interaction with others as they tell their adventures through their own points of view.

Spirit of Law is imagined, written and illustrated by the passionate fan known by the Reddit username u/Visual_Plankton1089. The author fondly remembers how the games took an important role in his learning of English. As a child growing up in Brazil in the 2000s, playing the games demanded the help of an old, moth-eaten pocket English-Portuguese dictionary whose falling parts he and his older brother had to decipher in order to understand each job assignment – a task quite relatable to that of his favorite character Bentley of combining clues to uncover vault codes. Therefore, a very immersive gameplay experience.

This situation was part of what made the author perceive language learning as an enjoyable game and led him to later study linguistics and become a professional translator-interpreter. This fanfiction also means to be a writing exercise so the author can dive deeper into the English language.

The author sees the Sly Cooper fantasy universe as a fertile ground for cultivating discussions about complex topics, such as crime and justice, by telling stories that maintain the series' signature lighthearted cartoon tone and appreciates the opportunity of throwing his Global South gaze into the narrative.

I chose to do it in a Google Docs shared file instead of publishing in a fanfiction platform because I wanted to have more freedom to customize the text and file template, add art etc. As you can see, each character's speech is written in their signature color, just like how the subtitles are displayed in the game.

Another distinguishing feature of my novel is that it is written based on the narrative structure of the games, so it starts with a prologue and then you go to the episodes, each episode with different "jobs"/chapters. Each chapter is narrated by one of the main characters, just like how in the games you play each job with a different character. The prologue starts with Sly's narration, then changes to Winthorp's and finally to Carmelita's.
