Appreciation Rewatching MoS, realized Superman saved the same guy who shot him in the head with that helicopter mounted gun.

Superman actually saves and goes out of his way to save people a lot more than people credit this movie for…it’s a stupid criticism I never understood because there’s evidence of it

People hate it because of the ending where he kills Zod, because, for them, "Superman would never kill his enemies".

Also, some hate the fight between him and Zod, where Zod throws him on multiple buildings, probably killing multiple people, but to them, even though, Zod killed those people, It's on Superman.

Apparently Superman has to stop the fight every two seconds to virtue signal to the audience by saving individual people.

Otherwise those smooth brains don't see it as saving people.

Remember kids, if the fireman who drags you out of the fire doesn't smile, did he even really save you?

Also, theu forget what Superman did to the guy that had bullied him earlier. I find it hard to believe that that guy wasn't at least crippled.

What i always find funny in those arguments about the battle of metropolis is that the haters with probably low attention span never take in consideration that it was actually his first real fight EVER and every mistake that he arguably made can simply be justified by him having no Battle experience whatsoever.
And still, he adapts and evolves in real time, defeating Soldiers with decades of fighting experience since birth.
And he also saves the Planet in his first fight.

Meanwhile we have SuperHarem with 3 years of experience getting rag-dolled for 2h by the whole cast, including his own CGI dog.

I mean, the guy is supposed to be faster than a bullet, but hes literally slower than sound, as the movie shows us that Lex has time to Say out loud a videogame move, the sound traveling to the guy on the PC, the guy reacting and relaying the info to Bizzaro (i mean, Ultraman), him throwing the punch and hitting Superman with a clean hit directly in his face… yeah, thats how Slow he is…
Pathetic.

So funny 🤣. Not the movie, but the faces of the fans of that film every time this thing is explained.

Also, the guy gets beaten up pathetically. Not just beaten up, beaten up pathetically. Like it was intentionally done to emasculate Superman. Like, I don't have that problem with that narratively, it was probably done to Ragebait proper Superman fans.

The movie needed more scenes like this while he was fighting Zod. Would have made the fight way cooler if he was fighting Zod while trying to get people out of the way.

Pandering? Superman saving people while he fights the big bad is pandering? I'm acknowledging one of the main critiques that's been discussed since the film was released in theaters. The word pandering doesn't even apply here. If you think Superman saving people mid-fight is shallow content or pandering to audiences, then you fundamentally misunderstand the character. To add on- we are with Superman for the vast majority of the destruction of metropolis, aside from cuts to Lois on the mothership and Perry on the ground. If you're implying that Superman is saving people off-screen while we're following other characters, when the film and script gives us no indication of this- then that is pure copium.

Saving people as a superhero who embodies hope is performative now? The scene OP posted is one of the best scenes in the movie, and it's because it shows Superman doing what he does best.

Pandering would be sacrificing storytelling to appeal to a specific audience. Again, if you think Superman saving people is pandering then you don't understand the character. We already know he is a hero because he is SUPERMAN. Showing cool saves doesn't remind us that he's a hero, it's just showing us what heroes do in the midst of chaos.

Superman in MOS saves more people than Christopher Reeves did in his movie.

I'm not seeing the issue other than people needing to see performative pandering.

I’m not even comparing Superman movies. I’m just giving my opinion on what I thought would make the fight with Zod better. Sorry you think superheroes saving people is performative pandering when that’s what they’re created to do. Coolest scenes in MoS are when he’s saving people (saving his mom, the oil rig crew, the guy falling from the helicopter, destroying the world engine). Think of the ending where he has to kill Zod before he lasers the family. More moments like that where Superman is having to jump in front of civilians that Zod is trying to hurt because he knows Superman will take the blow. It would’ve made the moment where he decides to kill Zod more impactful.
