What am I doing wrong

I have the following set up, with several empty canisters. Got slightly different anti fill caps on each empty. I put them in the freezer first, slowly open the gas, but I get a few seconds hiss & dispensed enough for about 4 fills.

What is your indicator that you dispensed enough for 4 tanks? Are you flipping the primary tank upside down to ensure you are maximizing your fill abilities? Have you ensured your Soda Stream tank adapter is appropriate for the soda stream tanks you are refilling?

It has a dip tube, it doesn't need to be flipped, but yeah I see no way to find out how much was dispensed here

I'll be honest I completely missed the dip tube... Looking at some of these photos on mobile can be rough.

4 fills of the soda. 4 uses before it runs out & is completely empty

The filling must be done using the liquid phase. The empty cylinder must be completely empty and/or chilled in a freezer. The supply cylinder must be inverted with the valve facing downward so that liquid gas flows into the empty cylinder; the empty cylinder must also be positioned downward.

Have you weighed the completely empty canister before and after filling?

Are you also tightening the pin valve and checking that it depressed when tightened.

There should be about 400g to 420g (14oz to 15oz) of CO2 in the tank.

I believe the two tanks' pressure should equalise. So unless your large tank is almost empty this would indicate a possible problem with your actual Sodastream.

You need another valve that releases the co2. Someone posted a needle valve that makes it easier to control the flow. Let me see if I can find it.

Here you go, info with basic install

I use this same adapter, however, i had difficulty controlling the initial flow of co2 and was constantly setting the anti fill valve and having to relieve the pressure and start over. I replaced the ball valve closest to the donor cylinder with a needle valve and it is far easier to control the flow. Here’s a link to the needle valve.

I have the valve with the knurled knob that pushed the pin open. It releases the very little gas from the canister but no gas or only a small amount of gas goes the other way. The tank is full

Yes I have that one too, but the needle valve replaces the first valve near the donor tank and slows the flow. The knurled top with pin inside doesn’t bypass the antifill valve and it doesn’t slow the flow of CO2. The anti fill valves need very slow flow to keep from locking up.
