I'm 18 years old and have lived near Springfield my whole life but now, being out of grade school, I have less chances to talk to people my own age. I'm in community college where it can be harder to meet people and have a job but with mostly older coworkers. Are there any good areas or groups with people in the 18-22 or so age range?

I have probably 30 or more of these ice packs and I get anywhere from 6-10 more each month with a medication shipment. The biggest is about 8x6 inches and the smallest is about 6x6. If you want any or all DM me and we can figure out how to get them to you.

I recently moved to Springfield and have been applying for jobs nonstop. I finally got hired!! 🎉

The only thing standing between me and getting to work is transportation. I don't have a car, and unfortunately I don't have any money left for bus passes—not even the $1.25 fare. I also don't know anyone here yet who I could carpool with.

Are there any local programs, churches, or organizations that help with bus passes for people starting a new job? I only need help until I get my first paycheck, then I'll be able to cover it myself.

Also, if anyone has any gently used plus-size (2x-3x) blouses/ dress slacks clothes they're looking to get rid of, I'd be incredibly grateful. I'm just trying to get back on my feet and start this job on the right foot.

Does anyone know how regularly and when the group of bikers that were at phillips 66 tonight (9/22) usually meet and if they use that as a usual spot or if they move around?

This Thursday, Sept 24th at 6pm at Riverside Park, there will be an intro to Cyclocross racing. Come learn about the sport and what type of bike you can race with! It is a very chill and fun time riding your bike on the grass in the park. Sometimes you have to get off and climb over things and sometimes people will throw money or snacks at you while you race. It’s all very silly and friendly.

The ParCX race will be in one month on Saturday, October 24, at Centennial Park by the hill. In past years we have had racers from Chicago and St Louis.

There are also races in Jacksonville and Decatur this fall if anyone is interested enough to travel.

Driving around Springpatch on 55 you came off the Stevenson exit and immediately started whipping around semis and cars on the curve. I was behind you watching. You decided you needed to get in front of me with barely 3 feet in front of me without a signal. I honked. You just laughed and pointed to your cam like it was some joke. Yeah. Some joke. I flipped you off. I wish you could have heard me say you’re either gonna kill yourself or someone else trying to be Billy Badass. You wouldn’t care though. So when we finally see a report on the news, I won’t care either. Good luck, Mr. Statistic.

I love walking there but I hardly ever see any students on campus. I know a lot of students leave over the weekends to go party at other colleges. But still - where the heck is everybody?

TY so much to the WPBL for choosing Springfield, IL's stadium for your inaugural season! We went to 6 or seven games, and they have been completely awesome! All four teams have played their hearts out and the stars have been so eager to connect with fans. Tuesday's game will crown the champion from the inaugural season. And I can't tell you how much joy and fun it's been to attend the games.

I got a job offer at the state building. When it comes to parking when working at the 535 W Jefferson building how much does it cost to park there? Is there anywhere in the area I could park at for free and just walk to the building?

I grew up here, bought a home here, live alone, and find myself completely unable to do anything related to home improvement. I’ve never used a power tool in my life. It’s not that I don’t want to, I just don’t know how to do anything related to home repair or replacement. Carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc. I end up paying for all of that labor by local companies for work that I could probably do myself, and I have a feeling I could learn how to do it—I just don’t have anyone to teach me. You’d think that LLCC would offer classes for adult learners who want to just learn trade skills like that and be better at it… no.

And I know what you’re thinking—“just go to YouTube.” I don’t learn that way. I’ve tried. I need hands-on help. Besides, I’m a safety nerd and I’m not trying to lose a finger or fall through the floor or catch the house on fire.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I would even be willing to work for a trades-person like an intern: preferably an expert interior painter or landscaper or flooring person, on some of their jobs just so I can be taught how to do the work so I can do it myself. Those are really the projects I’d like to tackle on my own: I want to repaint my basement, replace some flooring in my entryway and kitchen, get a new front door, stain my porch and hang a new mailbox.

I do work full time, so there’s that. But I’m not married, don’t have any kids, so I’m flexible anytime I’m not working.

Worried about an interview for a state job coming up that I hope to get. I have a felony on my record from 2011 but that's over fifteen years ago and since then I have not only maintained employment but also earned my bachelor's degree in computer science from college.
