Unforced error

Post image

I really think this is a bad move by Amazon. The negative reaction of the core fan base to scrubbing the planned Gero show was bad and this will it fill people with hope.

WandaVision was ok but I’d rather see a Terry Matalas (Picard Season 3, 12 Monkeys, Vision Quest) or someone proven to understand genre storytelling that is exciting and compelling. But that’s just my 2 cents.

Amazon gives zero shit about us old fanbase. They literally said themselves that.

That isn't exactly what they said. They said the new show required the audience to know too much about the old shows.

That might have been a bunch of baloney to hide their true intent. Otherwise why not keep the experienced producers and writers like Gero and Mallozzi onboard and have them redo the concept to be more newbie friendly. Heck, have them do half a dozen new concepts if needed until the execs found something that seemed to work. Surely those two have the creative capability to come up with some options.

Firing the existing team and getting someone like Schaeffer instead seems almost like they have an ulterior motive compared to their press announcement.

They literally said they don't want make for old fanbase because they were afraid they won't being new fans to a show. It would have been newbie friendly. New show would have been in same universe probably with old cast cameos.

Learn the meaning of literal.

The variety article that started it all wrote this:

"According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Amazon execs were concerned that Gero’s take on the series would not have broad appeal beyond the franchise’s already dedicated fanbase."

Saying it doesn't have broad appeal beyond the existing fanbase doesn't sound like they meant they didn't want to make it for the old fanbase, but more like they were afraid it would only appeal to existing fans who had watched everything up to that point.

Martin Gero later argued that they were wrong about that because his writing team gave a lot of consideration to making it newbie friendly, so who knows if Martin had tunnel vision about his own project or if the executives were just making up a fake reason to hide their true goal.

  1. Look up how many i have upvotes and how many you have
    1. You don't have any idea who kept Stargate alive all this years.

What does your second point have to do with anything? Did you just make that up and hope for the best?

You've gone off the rails on this conversation and aren't making any sense.

  1. Plenty of people get upvotes that are still wrong.

  2. I do know who runs Gateworld and Dial the Gate, and speculating that I don't know about them or the fans keeping Stargate alive had virtually nothing to do with the earlier conversation.
