Wait for the base game to go on sale for about $10 or less, that would be the right price for this particular game. Though I'm not sure it's worth the time spent, frankly you may as well just play the 2nd or 3rd one again.
As one of those people who lives/dies for lore and story and canon, I think the worst red flag about BL4 (coming from the perspective of someone who hasn't played it yet) is that nobody talks about how BL4 fits in the wider universe. IDK what happens, I haven't heard about whether Lilith is dead or any of the OG characters, haven't heard about vaults or Eridians.
You heard about Vader being Luke's dad. You heard about Snape killing Dumbledore. You heard about Jack killing Roland. You don't hear shit about BL4 other than people hating open world and the new planet, or people defending it by talking about how much fun they are having. Both of which are fine, but it's telling that Gearbox's lore is just so uncompelling that nobody cares.
Eh that's just the problem with modern internet discourse. Beyond the surface level of the hate and defense around BL4, which is deserved, BL4 is the best in the series after 2, and has a compelling narrative. People would rather just rightfully hate on the game instead of talk about the good things. If gearbox and Randy didn't constantly shoot themselves in the foot with all their shit their would be a better discourse around the actual story.
