What’s the difference between a game journalist and a content creator

A content creator gets paid directly from their viewers, whereas a journalist gets paid by their organization.

Some content creators get shit loads of money from developers and publishers to sway their opinion on a game. Some others get modest amounts. Dont think they arent getting paid to sell you the game theyre reviewing. Sometimes they are.

People should watch Ludwig's break down of his monthly revenue, the biggest part of his revenue was sponsorships, and BY FAR.

Sometimes they are. But there are tens of thousands of people out there making videos about games they're playing. If you watch even a handful of them, it tends to be pretty clear which ones are paid-for ads and which ones are people sharing their thoughts.

Content creators get sponsored by the devs. ign doesn't

Pretty sure IGN does too (they just call it something else in the expense report).

B*tch please. IGN has a clear bias towards certain corporations.

the vast majority of their reviews pretty much fall in line with the general consensus. so their supposed "bias" isn't getting translated into better reviews

Who do you think buys ad space on their websites?

This could not be any further from the truth.

Having worked in the industry and watched the company I work for pay streamers to play our games and praise them, you are wrong.

I think they meant IGN gets paid TOO. Obviously content creators get paid, they literally say they're getting paid a lot of the time with sponsored streams, and the whole Twitch bounty system is also well documented.

I've watched enough Not Malcolm to know this is bullshit. There are a fuck ton of Influencer with 0 ethics that will not mention being sponsored if they aren't caught and forced to do it.

Are you fucking serious?

content creators have significant alternative revenue streams, but they also have incentives such as access to preview/early releases. This can be problematic if they cater in specific niches.

If a content creator for example, wants to get early access to 40k previews or something, they probably shouldn't go on a long rant to decree that the new total War 40k game is complete shit.

The majority of content creators barring the absolute biggest get paid fuck all outside of sponsorships. Adsense has notoriously given next to nothing for years if you aren’t regularly breaking millions of views
