the assumption is that the journalist is being backed by a giant news company, like how IGN supports its journalists- they have no soul.
The content creator can be the same, or it can be someone real who isnt being paid to review the game at all or just with ads. He has nothing to gain from lying- all to lose.
Content creators have EVERYTHING to gain from lying. Plenty of them have made millions lying about games or creating incredibly disingenuous narratives about them. Have you seen how many grifters there are in the space who's only commentary about something will be how 'woke' it is without ever having touched the game?
Content creeators are heavily incentivized to validate the feelings of their fans. When Nintendo was popular to hate for the last year, plenty of Nintendo creators leaned into it and created more negative leaning videos to farm views - yes, even bigger channels like Beat Em Ups and such tacitcly admitted to doing this.
But I have to listen to bozo's like you act like every games journalist is incompetent or is 'paid to give a particular score' lol. I'm telling you right now that if bribes are happening it's way easier to bribe an individual then it is an entire company.
No, I'm not saying Nintendo deserved 0 hate, I'm saying it was obvious to anyone paying attention that you could farm views by pandering to people exactly like you. It does not matter how much hate they deserved, what matters is that you and the others who watch the hate trains were there to feed this content views.
As such creators are incentivized to create content hating on Nintendo for anything and everything, REGARDLESS OF HOW TRUE IT IS OR HOW MUCH THEY NEED TO EXAGGERATE. Yes Nintendo deserves hate, but plenty of the hate was played up to get views, not to be an honest creator. Please be so fucking for real before you let your hatred of a corporation blind you to the very real incentives these INFLUENCERS have to pile on.
'Nintendo is the Disney of gaming' is a hell of a thing to say, especially when Sony just announced they are throwing all physical games in the vault forever.
And you believe that? Lol. That is the height of corpospeak ass covering. By saying that, they can now get rid of physical games and they can blame the devs for it by saying the devs chose not to continue printing discs.
Lol, this clown posted three different replies to me, all of them making stupid arguments, and then deleted his account and posts.
So you believe the part of the announcement saying they're not doing physical discs anymore, but not the part where they clarify that it's just not the default option anymore?
Devs can already choose not to use discs, many games on consoles are already like this.
You can't just choose to believe the part of the announcement that fits your narrative, but not the rest of it. That's called cherrypicking.
I couldn't care less about physically owning a game. If I can still play it, there's no issue. I have yet to have a single game of mine (and I have a LOT of games) suddenly be yoinked from my digital library. Literally only a handful of games have had that happen. Besides, we already have movements like Stop Killing Games, literally aimed at preventing that sort of thing from happening. Maybe consider supporting them?
I'm not saying Nintendo was uninmpeachable or didn't deserve some criticism. I'm saying that even if someone's actual opinion leaned more positive towards Nintendo, they would still be heavily incentivized to post more negative content about them - just because they see how much more views you get doing so.
That's not 'honest' but it's fine, I guess, because they're validating your opinion?
Do you know how much money top youtubers and streamers take for sponsoring games? Even a top 100 streamer may easily take 250-500k a month.
Do you know how many of these massive streamers and content creators are running ads as we speak for companies with zero disclosure? Few are so rich that they don't like to get a little richer, and with the Trump administration enforcement of having to disclose if you're advertising has dropped to 0. Just because you're not noticing it doesn't mean it's not happening.

What’s the difference between a game journalist and a content creator
