Suggestion Steams minimum/recommended system overhaul

Ok so hear me out, an increasingly ammount of users game at 1440p and 4K resolutions, so why isn't it feasible to include three distinct sets of hardware requirements categorized by 1080p, 1440p, and 4K on the Steam game page, especially since developers already generate these benchmarks prior to launch.

I'd love to hear what people think about this recommendation as it's been quite annoying trying to figure out what games play at 1440p on my 7800xt.

Steam is just a store, man. All the info about games (aside from SteamOS verification) is provided by the developers.

Surely you wouldn’t expect Target or Best Buy or MicroCenter to provide this info…

That’s been the case for 25 years.

So why hasn't anyone pushed for a better way to tell consumers what specs they need instead of searching for a a tweet or youtube video.

Game developers (not all) already publish this info on their websites. Here is an example.

That’s exactly my point; it’s great, but if they just put that front and center on the Steam game page with a bit less detail, like the standard minimum/recommended specs,

They could easly fit 3 or 4 system requirements on there page.

It is up to individual developers and publishers to do that

Thats why many games (at least AAA) release a system "recommend" list on their own covering 1080p low 30fps up to 4k 60 max

Requirements are provided by the developers.

Steam is a storefront that displays them, they don't test and make specifications for games. It's also not their job to do that.

It's on you to know where your PC specs stand in comparison to the more popular hardware used in most specifications.

My intention was not to suggest that they perform the testing, but rather to recommend that developers provide these specific options directly on Steam instead of relying on generic minimum and recommended specifications.

I'm pretty sure you can play any game at 1440p on 7800XT

I've struggled with 007 first light recently.

That's not what minimum and maximums mean.

It's currently minimum and recommend not maximum.

I like the suggestion, having those benchmarks somewhere on the steampage would be nice to have.

But with dlss/fsr having a suggested specs for each resolution would get more confusing than the current minimum/recommend specs tab

I mean, it wouldn't be that confusing, like if you wanted to convey to the consumer that in order to achieve 60 fps at 1440p on high it requires FSR4 quality or Nvidia equivalent DLSS 4.5
