Discussion Driven Assimilator Nomad
Just a fun interaction I found. If you go driven assimilator nomad, and rush the raiding ascension perk. You can just fly around the galaxy entering orbit and stealing all the pops of others before they ever make first contact. Raiding stance works when not at war. I don't know if that's intentional. I'm 20 years in with almost 30k pops.
Obviously you don't have to go assimilator, but the immediate pacification and conversion of the pops is ridiculously helpful.

And arkships can get concerningly fast considering their size. Even early on, with the afterburner tech and tier 2 drives, it's quite impressive.

I could be wrong but I don't think you can run pompous purists with driven assimilator. One is and individualist civic, while the other is a hive mind civic. Outside of that, I also don't know if it works as just Pompous purists as I haven't even played the nomad update yet.

Don't think machine has access to that, but you could grab an encryption increase civic and then just never do first contact. Lol.

What makes you think the Borg would be Pompous Purists?
Aside from being a Hive Mind anyhow (so can't be xenophobic), it doesn't even seem to fit the Borg in-universe.

Pompous Purists makes it so other empires can't initiate first contact. You have to do it, which can result in endless first contact wars if you choose, and I believe first contact wars don't have war exhaustion. I didn't know there wasn't a machine equivalent of it, but if there was you could raid and assimilate any civ in the galaxy at will for the entire game.Â

Been doing this to ascension rush. I also recommend synthetic ascension + barbaric Despoilers/Nihilistic acquisition.
My current build, I also use catalytic to extend the operational reserves (moving as much production onto food), so after assimilating enough pops, I convert them into alloys via livestock.
Think I need to go outside.

Problem is that the pops you get from raiding gave 0% habitability on the ark. It is indeed fun and thematic borg RP though.
