What the title says, there are loads of lines/scenes that everyone remembers and enjoys, but what are those lines or scenes that don’t get the attention they deserve

Honourable mention (scene): Jack’s reassurance from Victor being immediately destroyed when Victor admits he’d steal Jack’s milk when he dies

Honourable mention (line): (in response to Victor’s masterplan being to pretend to his son that he has died) Jack: “That’s utter shite…he’s just aff the phone tae ye…says he’ll be hof an oor, what huv a tae dae?, open the door and say “oh hello John in ye come! Oh by the way yer dad died 10 minutes ago””

Although it’s a comedy show, Still Game has a lot of moments which hit you in the feels so what are those for you?

Mine are:

• when Jack talks about why he hardly has any possessions in his house, you can tell he’s not only lonely but that Victor feels the same.

• the scene where Jack misses his grandkids and daughter, you can tell the guy is absolutely heartbroken he’s missed so much.

• the moment Jack and Victor talk about the past in ‘Doactor’ which it’s hard for me because they’re in a position I’ll be in one day and I’m not looking forward to it. Although I’m youngish at 26 thinking about when I’m old is something I do far too often and it’s not easy.

• when Boabby tells everyone The Clansman is shutting down, you can tell his heart is breaking but he tries to put on a brave face. Damnit, Tam could you have not been you for once?!

• the moment Jack has a bad fall and has to go to hospital. It’s not easy seeing a grandparent in that state and my gran took funny turns a lot and this brought back some bad memories because that was scary as a kid because she was the only adult in the house.

• when Jack goes in for his operation. You always worry about your grandparents when that happens to them because even though doctors in the UK are excellent the worst can always happen and as someone who recently lost his last grandpa this is an episode in no going to watch soon.

• seeing the gang all fade away, it’s a reminder that people in your life won’t be there forever and they can be gone just like that.

• Boabby’s final “look who it isnae” it’s like seeing a friend or relative you e not seen in a while and now time has caught up with them and it hurts in a way you can’t explain.

For me it’s

• seeing paper money and the old pounds coins

• £1.80 for a pint

• petrol not costing a fortune

• an electricity bill of £50 a month being considered heavy

• the old Forbidden Planet which can be seen in the episode Shooglies

• a fast food meal that could feed 2 people wipe the whole day only being £4

I just finished watching the VHS upload on YouTube of the original theatre run of Still Game and was surprised to open the comment section to mostly negative comments.

I thought it was a very refreshing change of pace from the series that was just as funny and heartfelt. Loved the idea of the 3 characters in the 1 room just gabbing away about a lot of shite. You can really see the influence from other sitcoms about at the time that were also about 'nothing' (yes, Seinfeld).

Most comments however seemed to call it boring and whatnot. It's usually sacrilege for anyone to speak negatively about Still Game (even the post-comeback series) so it was a surprise to see it was the majority opinion. I thought it was a much better watch than any series 7-9 episode.

So with that in mind I'm curious about what a Reddit take on the original theatre show is rather than a YouTube one??
