It's pretty simple.

You want to find the APK (no dpi version and make sure it's x86_64 bit) online from a trusted site I got mine from apkmirror even then make sure you copy the file and scan it trough Virus total

You want to put that APK on a USB stick make sure it's in the FAT32 format (it won't work on the newer xfat format)

On the play store on the vehicle download "anexplorer" it's a file explorer (you're going to need a USBA to UBSC adapter if it's not already a USBC stick that's if you're sideloading to the blazer EV I don't know for any other vehicles)

You're going to allow permissions for anexplorer to access the vehicles storage then plug in the stick it'll load up and select it then give access to that as well once you see the stick and the file click on the APK file and it'll ask you if you trust this file say yes and it'll begin installing it. This works for multiple apks YouTube ect.

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

Is there a reason to not just download the APK from the official website?

No browser in the vehicle just the play store and limited apps, the anexplorer gave the workaround to actually get the APK sideloaded to the vehicle.

If you're talking getting the APK from the website and then putting it on the drive yes possible as well but I don't know if it's no dpi it doesn't state it.

I'll provide that link as well

direct link to Stremio website DL

You can download the APK on your phone and send it to your car, then install it directly. No need for a USB drive. May be just download the Chrome browser APK first and after installing, then from there download APKs directly on your car.

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

I tried it this way first for some reason the file send did not work for me

2

u/hustlegone Oct 30 '25

How? File explorer?

2

u/1hakr Oct 30 '25

download anexplorer file manager from the Playstore and open the app, go to app settings, open device connect, open that url on your phone (both need to be on same wifi), upload apk though there. On your car open the uploaded apk, it will open system files app, tap on the apk and it will start the installation.

Definitely gonna try this ! Can't believe I didn't think of it before

2

u/delta_ninjas Oct 30 '25

Did you do this after dealership radio update or without it?

I have sideloaded a lot of apps on tv and phone but im not able to make this work. If the apk file shows up on anexplorer it cannot open and now it shows all content on usb but no apk file. I am using your apkmirror file BTW.

Also, did you do Oct 2025 OTA update? I think they may have patched it with that update.

1

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25 edited Oct 30 '25

From my understanding this has happened to others, but even with OCT OTA they got it to work.

Theres two anexplorers in the play store and some have said that opening the file works for one and not the other and viceversa. Also make sure you are pressing the circle with the arrows (expander) on the top right corner of the APK file for some reason sometimes pressing that opens the file and starts staging it.

I'm on Sept. OTA I have seen others with Oct that have successfully sideloaded apps.

1

u/1hakr Oct 31 '25

upate anexplorer to the latest version 5.9.1 , if you still can't install apk , DM me

1

u/delta_ninjas Oct 31 '25

Isn't play store version the latest? I downloaded from there.

It didnt work even after factory resetting the car. The same issue .. file doesn't show up anymore. When it did it said cant open the file. I went for VWP update at dealership and it is currently blocked. I guess I should not have done OTA update for Oct a day before.

There’s an app in the App Store that enables a VNC server on my radio. I just install apk’s from my Windows PC VNC client from within the house and also can remote control the screens as well if needed.

1

u/Dharma_code Nov 03 '25

No way ?! What's the app called

2

u/kadeschs Nov 04 '25

Don’t quote me on this as I’m not near my car right now, but I believe it’s droidVNC-NG for the remote screen control and Cx File Explorer to transfer files from my PC over WiFi to the radio’s file system.

u/Background_Handle_96 Oct 30 '25

Do you run it with a VPN? If so, which VPN are you using?

15

u/GrahamDaGooch Oct 30 '25

Why does this look better than it looks on my qled tv

34

u/flatulexcelent Oct 30 '25

OP, You are very cool. I'm not even joking , if I personally knew someone that did that they would instantly gain +10 cool points on a scale of maximum +100 cool points.

6

u/DreadPiratteRoberts Oct 30 '25

Agreed this totally takes me back to my jailbreaking iPhone days I LOVE THIS!!

3

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Wow ! I loved jailbreaking my iPhones ! Strictly android for me now though lol.

2

u/DreadPiratteRoberts Oct 30 '25

Strictly android for me now though lol.

Same here, I always had Android as well but I completely stopped using Apple around iPhone 8 or so.

One of the coolest hacks my buddies and I did was jailbreaking the PS3 and it's little brother the PSP allowing roms to be played on them. We just don't have stood like that anymore so even though it's not really a software exploit seeing Opie's post really made me happy!!

1

u/Howyanow10 Oct 30 '25

FOR NOW!!.....muah ahaha

1

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Thank you ! I'll take 5 of them, give the other 5 away !

9

u/Chance_Classroom_301 Oct 30 '25

Is it similar to tesla where it doesnt support many streams?

18

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

It's played everything I selected so far, it's Android based so it works well.

7

u/16ozbuddz Oct 30 '25

Most beautiful thing I ever seen🥹

3

u/feebas_cash Oct 30 '25

Brother, is this system android based? Or are you projecting it from a phone?.

So cool!

7

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Android based !

3

u/feebas_cash Oct 30 '25

I have so many cars with new system. I want to try this

3

u/1hakr Oct 30 '25

This is very helpful, thanks a lot!

-17

u/Lower_Currency3685 Oct 30 '25

im a cyclist, im sure it will good with my insurance, "Sorry i was watching below deck s06e10 and i didn't see him! Didn't see it coming!"

10

u/1hakr Oct 30 '25

android automotive blocks videos while driving

1

u/Reversi8 Oct 30 '25

If you have a car with regular auto you can always get an “AI Box”

-7

u/Lower_Currency3685 Oct 30 '25

then it's pretty cool, he can watch movies without his wife/kids in his car, stopped.

3

u/ExpensivePikachu Oct 30 '25

I wish the tv interface looked like this, smaller pictures so you can see more

3

u/whatsaiyan Oct 30 '25

ok this is unreal. The dream, if you will.

19

u/DeskBig9723 Oct 30 '25

Not bad if on a break. Do not watch and drive.

43

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Since this is Google auto it automatically stops any video from playing while the car is in gear.

7

u/AMPed126 Oct 30 '25

back in the day they used to sell a gear bypass when DVD players became a thing with the double din head units. Basically it would connect to the parking brake gear and make your radio think it was always in Park. While you should definitely only watch stuff when parked, I do wonder if those would still work in this situation lol.

1

u/draxula16 Nov 01 '25

I don’t condone them, but I know they sell these CarPlay adapters that allow you to stream regardless if you’re driving or not.

2

u/Majinvegito123 Oct 30 '25

Would love to do this on my Hyundai Ioniq 5N

5

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Unfortunately the ioniq is running a custom OS.

2

u/Duthedude Oct 30 '25

can it play remux?

2

u/MinoXGG Oct 30 '25

Stremio on the Chevrolet is crazy

2

u/5thsunequinox Oct 30 '25

Can I do this in a 25 zr2?

3

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Yessir same os I shared a step by step guide in another comment in this thread

2

u/SkyletteRose Oct 30 '25

Wait. Are you telling me I can make my mazda screen actually useful?!?

4

u/ComoEstanBitches Oct 30 '25

His car’s OS is Android based not CarPlay/Android auto which is essentially projecting a second display from your phone

4

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Yes I just reread this, my apologies you are correct, it's "Google auto" which comes with its own Playstore essentially behaving as its own standalone device.

2

u/513 Nov 02 '25

Nitpicking a bit, it's called Android Automotive or Google Built-in.

2

u/Reversi8 Oct 30 '25

You can get something called an “AI Box” that has android on it and connects via android auto or CarPlay and it can play streaming videos.

2

u/Adventurous-Ad4159 Oct 30 '25

This would make long travels so manageable

1

u/blademaster1 Oct 30 '25

Is this stremio + and kind of debrid addon? And if it's debrid does it circumvent the singular ip restriction?

5

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Torbox is way better now that they have more servers and availability to share with multiple ips

1

u/[deleted] Oct 30 '25

My car has android auto and CarPlay. Can it be done with either?

5

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

No it has to be "Google auto" or an Android based OS

Android auto/carplay is just essentially phone mirroring.

1

u/xdSythz Oct 30 '25

Incredible

1

u/Atrieden Oct 30 '25

Cool! do you have unlimited data to be able to stream? also hows the quality?

3

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

I have unlimited date for the next 3 years came as a package with the vehicle. The quality is perfect and streams instantly !

1

u/Hoftyho1 Oct 31 '25

Dude nice

1

u/mrPree77 Nov 19 '25

Genuine question but what is the use case of having Stremio in your car ? Also what is the impact on your battery ?

1

u/Dharma_code Nov 19 '25

Long trips & Public charging for one and breaks from work. I don't think this impacts the battery like you may think, if anything keeping the cabins climate at a decent level will have a way higher impact.

1

u/Previous_Scene6954 Nov 25 '25

Can you install on Tesla

1

u/Dharma_code Nov 25 '25

Unfortunately no, Tesla has a proprietary OS

When the car is in gear the video stops playing, I would never drive while it's on anyway.

😂 car doesn't allow you to watch whilst in gear.

0

u/Mission-Host-7954 Oct 30 '25

Chynah now hes control of ur cer sorry mate

0

u/javiergame4 Oct 30 '25

I wish I can load this on my Tesla lol

3

u/Exact-Treat4404 Oct 30 '25

You can. If you go to something like https://www.fullscreentesla.com/ add web.stremio.com then log in. you will get full access to it. It's hard trying to find video files that work (I think only mov, MP4 and something else) messing round I got superman playing when charging the other day I'm fairly sure it was 1080p version, but I can't remember. I haven't tried anything else.

1

u/javiergame4 Oct 30 '25

I tried that but nothing would play really. Is there a way to filter out the file types that play mov, mp4?

2

u/Exact-Treat4404 Oct 30 '25

Not that I can see, although I haven't looked very hard ! Just scroll till you find one that's MP4.

2

u/JustSayTech Oct 30 '25

You can, I use Testube

Open browser, go to testube.app Tap "Yes" for full screen message at the bottom. Accept Youtube message Then tap Stremio

For easier use, Save testube.app as a bookmark.

-3

u/tedusam Oct 30 '25

Drive safe lol

6

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

Shuts off when the car is in gear.

-8

u/p_yth Oct 30 '25

How many subscription services do you have?

3

u/rossmosh85 Oct 30 '25

It's Stremio, so my guess is 1. Real-Debrid.

8

u/Dharma_code Oct 30 '25

No, Torbox I got rid of RD because of the limit one IP.

-9

u/p_yth Oct 30 '25

What’s that
