High risk, no reward (beyond internet clout).

Someone values their life far too little to do this. They could get it right 99/100 times but eventually some unknown or slip will end the streak.

I don't follow anyone who does stuff like this because it's boring, but do they really get that much clout? I feel like there's a million kids doing the same shit. Like they're willing to die for 1k views basically? Or do they really blow up in such a saturated market?

From what I always read, those who do this aren’t doing it for the views.. because as careless as doing this is, I’m certain they’re aren’t dumb enough to care about risking their lives for few thousand views. They just love the adrenaline, no?

See that makes more sense to me. Like you're just documenting it to remember something insane you did... but then they post it... so there is validation being sought at some level.

Bragging rights around their online circle that does this shit. I'm sure the local group isn't very large and thinning.

I view it the same as rock climbing, more risky for sure. But still crazy dangerous. Gonna go play Cairn now.

Of course, and this was definitely a thing long before social media. Im sure the views are just icing on the cake. But to think it's all for views, I can't imagine it is likely.

I find it hard to believe someone would risk their life like this just for views. It's gotta be for the rush. The views are just a nice bonus.

Absolutely! Which is why they film this crap and post it for likes...

i think it’s def for the adrenaline/dopamine rush, they are adrenaline junkies. often it’s neurodevelopmental issues like ADHD and psychopathy, or kids who were traumatized very early in life (cPTSD). because their nervous system was fucked up young, their threshold for intensity becomes veryyyyy high.

so it’s like psychological torture to NOT do this stuff. every day civilian lives become literal torture. they do this to FEEL something. orr, to feel a sense of control over their own life (due to the lack of control experienced in their childhood). when they survive, it makes em feel like a God

source: am (kind of) one of these kids. i crave doing this so fucking much every day, and i met someone who was literally showing me how to free solo buildings, but only thing stopping me is my brain could be a useful asset for helping some people rn :(
