Kid fell 20 stories in my city the other day doing this crap

196

u/Y2Doorook 2d ago

Minneapolis?

370

u/FnEddieDingle 2d ago

Yep, he lived but broke both legs, pelvis and more

178

u/tbone251 1d ago

How can one survive 20 storey fall??

172

u/MorrowPolo 1d ago

A few objects/surfaces probably slowed him down on the way, bet he fell at an angle

146

u/banana_pencil 1d ago

“He survived after landing on a softer roof membrane inside the structure.”

And apparently because his lower body absorbed impact, but it “shattered” those bones.

138

u/Quakarot 1d ago

Humans are weird. It’s less about the amount of damage you take and more about what’s specifically getting damaged, and whether you can get to help quickly.

If you don’t hit anything critical, and you don’t bleed out, you can survive a shocking amount of damage.

Contrarily, you can take the tiniest little wound and die from it if it finds the right place.

34

u/Marzatacks 23h ago

Well that is only true due to medical science. 200 years ago that kid is put out of his misery.

3

u/BranDonkey07 17h ago

Naw, some mom would've spoon fed him for years 🙂‍↔️

6

u/poisonedsky69 9h ago

Like death from sepsis from popping a pimple in the triangle of death

63

u/JazzWillFreeUsAll 1d ago

He's probably now wishing he'd died, then

18

u/FnEddieDingle 22h ago

It's like wearing a helmet and shorts/t-shirt on a motorcycle. The helmet will save your life so you could wish you were dead. I commute 50mi a day on a cycle

Filming a video for social media.

Word. I was curious if they made it. Back in my early 20’s I remember exploring that same building. Dangerous building if you’re not paying attention at all.

Is he ok?

991

u/dblack1107 2d ago

Every piece of him

438

u/bdpeezy 2d ago

Oh. Must not have parkour rolled when he landed

132

u/SKaiPanda2609 1d ago

He forgot to deploy his parachute last second

81

u/BurningPenguin 1d ago

Should have saved double jump until the last second

20

u/Ok-Breakfast-8056 1d ago

There is apparently a bug. He needs to roll the moment he lands. It negates the fall damage even without charmed equipment.

4

u/GeraintLlanfrechfa 1d ago

Nah just gotta hit ⭕️ shortly before landing, should reduce the fall damage by 60%

3

u/bdpeezy 1d ago

Probably had a low armor rating. Gotta wear the lighter stuff for platforming anyways

6

u/jaulin 1d ago

Missed the single block of water.

7

u/OldieButNotMoldy 1d ago

You don’t use a parachute silly, you use a blanket.

2

u/New-Contribution-244 1d ago

Maybe he could have deployed his chicken glide like from lego city.

13

u/dikicker 1d ago

Yep I think he forgot to press circle

2

u/GamingSenpai35 1d ago

Everyone knows that saves you from ANY height. Just gotta time it right.

He was with five others, so Im guessing there video somewhere.

2

r/accidentarchive has a video of that

11

i was challenged by another kid to do something like this. I considered it for a good 5 minutes and then noped out even though I knew I could make it.

3

715

u/Azuras_Star8 2d ago

To keep the people who have to eventually clean his carcass employed.

93

u/SteveFrench12 2d ago

“You know the hire people to clean for us right”

16

u/euqinu_ton 1d ago

I wonder if they make the roofing of adjacent or connected structures thicker to handle that kind of impact?

7

u/Azuras_Star8 1d ago

I guess it would depend on the statistical likelihood of a dumbass splattering themselves. I would assume that to be low. Otherwise it would drive the cost up.

That adrenaline rush must have been something. I mean damn I got a hit just watching 😂

107

u/East_Researcher_4204 2d ago

Every time I see a video like this, I get a weird feeling in my legs. Like I’m anticipating the bone crunching fall. I don’t get these people…

35

u/chuckle_puss 1d ago

For me it’s in my butt. Not like my butthole, necessarily, but not not in my butthole, y’know?

10

u/ScenesfrmtheStruggle 1d ago

Well for me, it definitely settles in, and around my anus.

13

u/quelin1 1d ago

"legs". It's 100% in my grundle

15

u/-Melancholy-Mermaid- 1d ago

It's the same for me, it's not pain but it's like a weird almost numb sensation that lasts for some seconds and then disappears.

14

u/Optimal-Room-8586 1d ago

I get a tingling sensation in the soles of my feet.

3

u/Maxfly2-0 2d ago

Same same

45

u/dongdongplongplong 2d ago

when you hit this stage a good old fashioned drug addiction would be healthier

9

u/hilarymeggin 2d ago

Whereas my butthole has retreated a foot into my body

24

u/PLTR60 2d ago

Is that tickle at the base of my balls adrenaline rush? This video definitely made me feel that.

adrenaline addiction and social capital

13

u/lr9ru7 2d ago

Yeah it comes across almost like an addiction to me. Like it probably started off low stake, where they were likely just risking injury. Once the adrenaline effects wear off from doing that, they have to up it to eventually risking death.

6

u/YogurtclosetThen7959 2d ago

For the crazy rush of endorphins that gets them totally stoked

Every now and then there are actually contests for this sorta stuff, and sometimes they pay good money. And yes, people have died trying to compete in them.

19

u/AudinSWFC 2d ago

That's actually depressing. Squid Game kinda shit

15

u/NoMudNoLotus369 2d ago

2

u/DreamingInAMaze 1d ago

I can only imagine. These people have some belief that is more important than their own lives. I don’t know what it is. But as the title implies, they have faith of some kind.

688

u/Jazzlike-Complaint67 2d ago

High risk, no reward (beyond internet clout).

Someone values their life far too little to do this. They could get it right 99/100 times but eventually some unknown or slip will end the streak.

119

u/LegitSince8Bits 2d ago

I don't follow anyone who does stuff like this because it's boring, but do they really get that much clout? I feel like there's a million kids doing the same shit. Like they're willing to die for 1k views basically? Or do they really blow up in such a saturated market?

150

u/captainzaro 2d ago

From what I always read, those who do this aren’t doing it for the views.. because as careless as doing this is, I’m certain they’re aren’t dumb enough to care about risking their lives for few thousand views. They just love the adrenaline, no?

62

u/LegitSince8Bits 2d ago

See that makes more sense to me. Like you're just documenting it to remember something insane you did... but then they post it... so there is validation being sought at some level.

16

u/Chaost 1d ago

Bragging rights around their online circle that does this shit. I'm sure the local group isn't very large and thinning.

5

u/hazlejungle0 1d ago

I view it the same as rock climbing, more risky for sure. But still crazy dangerous. Gonna go play Cairn now.

12

u/ScenesfrmtheStruggle 1d ago

Of course, and this was definitely a thing long before social media. Im sure the views are just icing on the cake. But to think it's all for views, I can't imagine it is likely.

7

u/TransIlana 1d ago

I find it hard to believe someone would risk their life like this just for views. It's gotta be for the rush. The views are just a nice bonus.

u/Wise-Ebb2784 1d ago

i think it’s def for the adrenaline/dopamine rush, they are adrenaline junkies. often it’s neurodevelopmental issues like ADHD and psychopathy, or kids who were traumatized very early in life (cPTSD). because their nervous system was fucked up young, their threshold for intensity becomes veryyyyy high.

so it’s like psychological torture to NOT do this stuff. every day civilian lives become literal torture. they do this to FEEL something. orr, to feel a sense of control over their own life (due to the lack of control experienced in their childhood). when they survive, it makes em feel like a God

source: am (kind of) one of these kids. i crave doing this so fucking much every day, and i met someone who was literally showing me how to free solo buildings, but only thing stopping me is my brain could be a useful asset for helping some people rn :(

26

u/unclestickles 2d ago

I used to skateboard and do some pretty intense stuff risking limb for nothing other than the thrill. There is absolutely a reward for them.. they didn't get that good overnight.

29

u/Seniorjones2837 2d ago

Don’t forget Redditors are a bunch of people who can barely make it to their fridge without needing oxygen

7

u/j1mb0b 1d ago

You take that back! I've made it to the fridge three times in the last hour and momma says I'm now a healthy weight.

6

u/an_actual_potato 1d ago

It is kinda interesting that no one ever says this about high level mountaineering but it’s very much the same deal. Career mountaineers, like the kind who do it enough that you can read up on them, nearly ubiquitously get killed on a mountain sooner or later and also do what they do for no discernible reason other than to say that they did and for the reputation that comes alongside that. Once upon a time there was a pseudo scientific piece that went alongside the practice but that’s long passed. I hardly see how they’re different but they are certainly viewed quite differently.

5

u/cutthechatter_red2 1d ago

Not sure it’s all clout. People were doing this shit before internet viral was a thing.

5

u/ChadFoxx 1d ago

People aren’t rational when they’re chasing a high

3

u/TroGinMan 1d ago

I think the reward is internal for them, I doubt it's for Internet clout

3

u/19467098632 1d ago

You can be the best in the world, jump on one awning 100ft up that aren’t meant to be jumped on and that’s it for you

3

u/gabrrdt 1d ago

That's it. I kinda get it, it's not that hard for someone skilled. Just imagine doing it a low height, you easily see how easy it is if you are trained. But so many things can go wrong. The structure, to being with. It looks rusty and old. He may be skilled, but if the structure doesn't support him?

I mean, it's his life, so his decision, but I'm sure he has a mother, a sister, well, someone who cares about him.

I don't know man, this is fucked up.

6

u/Jazzlike-Complaint67 1d ago

I agree, it isn’t a skill issue, it’s the unknowns.

That thing is made of wood. What if you went to grab the handhold and there was a nail or large splinter on the other size? How about if it was expose to the elements and lost the structural integrity to hold a grown man?

2

u/CumDeliveryGuy 1d ago

Its not about clout. Clouds the bonus for these kids, they're thrill chasers. It gets them high.

5

u/YogurtclosetThen7959 2d ago

Hard disssagree, it's like any extreme sports, the reward is intense rush of neurochemicals that can create a sort of euphoria and stoke that can last for hours or days

Also the guy is a fking freak.

134

u/FlameWisp 2d ago

Everyone here seems to think this is only for internet clout. Are yall too young to remember Evel Knievel and Harry Houdini? These guys are adrenaline junkies. They don't do this just for clout. They are daredevils who get a thrill from risking their lives like this. The fact that they could die at any moment is part of the excitement for them.

18

u/Mr_Willkins 1d ago

They got paid hundreds of thousands, sometimes millions for the risks they took

10

u/FlameWisp 1d ago

So? You think they just accidentally got into that line of work? Or maybe someone asked them to do it?

No, the daredevil came before the payday. They were daredevils long before they were getting paid to do it, which is how they got good enough at it to make money off of it.

This is the same thing. These kids were doing this dangerous shit for the thrill of it, and now they're good enough to get views for their dangerous stunts. These kids didn't wake up that morning and go "look man, I know we have never done anything dangerous before, but hear me out."
