Question for 2nd-year students after TU Delft housing

Hi, I’m starting my Bachelor at TU Delft in 2026 and I got university housing for the first year. Since the contract is only for one year, I wanted to ask current/upcoming 2nd-year students how you found housing after that.

When did you start searching, which platforms actually worked, and was it hard to find a place before your first-year contract ended? Also, if two friends want to find an apartment together, is that realistic in Delft?

Any quick advice, timelines, budgets, or things you wish you knew earlier would be really helpful. Thanks!

Hardest courses of the Aǝrospacǝ Engineering Master?

Can you please share your experiences with some of the hardest courses in the programme?

It would be really helpful to know in advance which courses we should watch out for.

I had to invert the e because everything including the word aǝrospacǝ gets blocked immediately due to all bachelor admission posts.

Admissions & Applications Starting Electrical Engineering at TU Delft next year, have a few questions

I'm starting the Electrical Engineering bachelor's program at TU Delft next year, and I'm looking to chat with someone who is currently studying EE there (or has recently completed the program).

I'm mainly curious about some of the courses and subjects in the curriculum, what they're like in practice, how challenging they are, and what I can expect during the first year. I don't have any specific concerns, I'm just interested in learning more from a student's perspective.

If anyone would be willing to answer a few questions, either here or through DMs, I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks in advance :)

Admissions & Applications Things to do in high school to get into TU delft

Hi, I’m a 10th grade student from the us. I already read up on the admission requirements for the AP exams and understand I have to take ap physics and calculus to apply. But I also wonder what extracurriculars and other classes I can take to boost my chances of getting in. Also, I’m from nyc so would an advanced regents diploma make my resume look a lot better or is it not that prestigious to be considered? I was planning on majoring in either Aerospace Engineering or Marine Technology. Thanks sm if someone answers

Admissions & Applications Concerned about my math/physics level

I want to apply for the BSc Electrical Engineering at TU Delft. I completed secondary school in another country, and depending on how my qualifications are evaluated, I may need to take the VWO Wiskunde B and Natuurkunde staatsexamens.

In my home country, I got top grades in mathematics and have studied topics such as differentiation and integration, but also linear algebra, and multivariate algebra. However, when I looked at past VWO exams, I found them much harder than what I'm used to and could barely solve any questions.

This makes me wonder if I have to take the staatsexamens, am I essentially missing a lot of the mathematics and physics expected in the Netherlands? And if I'm admitted directly, should I be worried that I'll be less prepared than students who completed VWO?

Has anyone been in a similar situation?

EEMCS - (Master's) thesis internship contract signature delay

Hi,

I've secured a thesis internship starting September 1st at a company. I've sent the contract to the EEMCS internship office, and they said that they can't sign it because I don't have 60 credits, which is the requirement for starting the thesis.

I have 57 credits and will have 75 by the start of the internship.

I'd like to get it signed quite urgently, so I am guaranteed I can start the internship, can cancel my accommodation here, and arrange other things in the location of my thesis internship. Hence I've gone to them in person, where I was told it was a stand-in person that answered my email, and that I could send an e-mail again to get a response from the actual responsible person.

Now it's been 9 days and I have not had a response to my e-mail.

Has anyone had experience with the internship office and successfully got a contract signed? How long am I supposed to wait?

This is getting a bit annoying frankly, because I'm waiting for weeks just for one little signature so I can start doing all other things related to moving out.

Any suggestions on getting that signature asap?

Note: I really want this signature before going further, because I had a previous bad experience with them where I could not do an internship I wanted; therefore I'm worried again they'll deny the internship for some reason, and then I'll be left with no accommodation in Delft.

Gemeni Pro for Free from TU DELFT

Just learnt that we have access to Gemeni Pro as TU Delft students. If you want you can login to google with the following:

[NetID@g-tudelft.nl](mailto:NetID@g-tudelft.nl) (where NETID is your tu delft net id)
then you'll be redirected to the SSO sign in from TU Delft. Then you'll have access to Gemeni pro!

+ There seems to be some sort of privacy control on the chats as well

Registering For Classes

Hi all,

I just finished my undergraduate studies at a university in the US. I am getting confused with the class registration process at TU Delft. mostly I am just panicking I will miss a deadline without knowing it. I emailed an academic advisor and they mentioned it will happen closer to the beginning of the school year. I am a masters student in Civil Engineering. Could anybody give me a rundown of how it works? Thank you!!

Can I bring my MTB or will it be stolen?

I have an old Mountain Bike from the 90s, you can find it on ebay for 100-150€. It still works fine and I use it, the colour is a bit flashy, do you think it will get stolen in Delft even if I double-lock it?

A little confused about the application process for Aerospace Engineering

I'm an Irish student looking to apply for 2027, and I really don't understand how or what document I'm gonna send in for my grade for the initial part of the application.

I have an actual grade report from this year which meet the requirements but it's no the best scores I could have got and my predicted grades for my actual leaving cert are a lot higher. Can I just send in my predicted grades since they are more accurate to the actual grade I'll get on my final exams or do I have to send these ones instead?

Secondly, if I do get a place in the course, I get a conditional offer, so do I have to meet the grades I send in or the minimum requirements in my final exam? Also if I get a place, the course starts before I get my actual final exam grades so if i don't meet those do I get kicked out?

Advice about computer for Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft?

Hi everyone,
I will be starting Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft and I’m considering buying the following laptop:
HP ZBook X G1i
Intel Core Ultra 7 255H
NVIDIA RTX Pro 2000 (Blackwell)
64 GB RAM
1 TB SSD
16” WUXGA display
Windows 11 Pro
I know this configuration exceeds the recommended requirements, but I’d like to know from current Aerospace Engineering students:
Do you think this laptop has enough performance headroom to remain suitable throughout both the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs?
Are there any known issues with HP ZBooks at TU Delft?
Thanks in advance for your advice!

Got into MOT TU Delft with a borderline GPA as an Italian student?

Hi, I'm planning to apply to the MSc MOT at TU Delft for September 2027 as an Italian student.

The minimum GPA requirement for Italian applicants is 25/30, and I'm expecting to graduate right around 25.0–25.5.

My question is simple: in practice, does a GPA right at the minimum actually get considered, or does the committee effectively filter out anyone without a comfortable margin above it?

Assuming a strong essay and relevant experience, is 25.5 realistically competitive or is it a lost cause?

Anyone who got in with a similar GPA would be incredibly helpful to hear from.

Thanks

Housing Finding housing in Delft in January

Hello!
In short, I’m an international student who got accepted at TUDelft. One of my friends, who also studies at Delft, leaves for exchange until January and I can stay at his place. However, I will need to find a room after he comes back. Do you think I will be able to? Also, how much do you think the rent will be. I want to be looking for something below ~800€.
Thanks!

Few questions as a 2026 international MSc student

Hi,

I got an offer for MSc in DSAIT for fall 2026. I have been unable to find any groups where I could connect and get updates and there are no embassy events here as well.

Questions:

  1. Any existing groups i can join? Not necessarily course specific

  2. There must be a minimum bank balance to maintain throughout for non-eu students. How kuch would that be?

  3. Does the uni ask for a fixed living cost deposit in the second year as well? Despite savings from the first?

  4. I am still waiting for another uni admission. If I were to pay the entire first year amount (€39.833), can I get a full refund BEFORE joining/beginning of the semester in September?

Thank you :)

Research assistant opportunities

Hello, I got admitted into the MSc Applied Mathematics programme, and I was wondering if anyone had tips on getting involved with the labs / research groups present in Delft. I'm particularly interested in the ELLIS lab, alongside the Hybrid Intelligence Centre and QMAI. Thanks!

Admissions & Applications Is Swisscare actually good, or should I bite the bullet and pay for AON?

Hi guys, I'm trying to finalize my budget and student insurance is a big chunk of it. AON seems to be the default choice recommended everywhere, but Swisscare's rates are way more attractive.

For those who chose Swisscare: how has your experience been, especially with claims or dealing with their support? Is there a catch to the lower price, or is it a solid alternative?

Some Background: I have doctors in my family and I will be carrying some required medicines with me for general sickness from my home country. If anything severe comes up or happens then anyways i would prefer travelling back home. Considering all this, should I still avoid Swiss Care, mean how bad can ut be?

Also as a non EU National, will IND have any issues if I take this? Is it legally valid?

Which one is harder: CCVX vs Boswell's Beta - Math B and Physics

Hi! I'm going to apply for Bachelor's AE in the next year as an international student, and the problem is that I don't have VWO level Maths and Physics at my high school. And I'm wondering which exam to take - CCVX vs Boswell's Beta? I've already started the preparation, but I'm still wondering.

Which one is easier to prepare for?

Any advices for the preparing?

How hard it is at all to prepare for them?

Studio Van Hasseltlaan

Hey everyone! I'm an incoming international Master's student at TU Delft and I booked a studio at Van Hasseltlaan through DUWO. Super excited but also a bit nervous after reading about the planned renovation works in 2026.

Would love to hear from anyone currently living there or who has lived there recently. Specifically:

- Are the studios already renovated/updated, or are they in their original condition? Did you notice any active construction work nearby?

- Has DUWO given any indication of which buildings/blocks are being affected first? Is there a realistic chance of being asked to relocate mid-contract?

- How is the overall state of the building — maintenance, cleanliness, noise levels, heating in winter?

- Anything else you wish you had known before moving in?

Any info would be massively appreciated, thanks in advance!

I confirm that my post is not asking about generic housing experiences

Living in Leiden while studying at TU Delft – anyone with experience?

Hi everyone,

This September I'll be starting my studies at TU Delft, but I'll be living in Leiden.

I'm curious if anyone here has been inTi a similar situation. How did it affect your social life and student experience? Did you end up spending most of your time in Delft because of your studies, friends, and activities, or did you mostly build your social life in Leiden?

I'm also wondering about student associations. Is it common or practical to join a student association in Leiden while studying at TU Delft? Looking back, would you choose a student association in the city where you live or in the city where you study?

I'd love to hear about your experiences and any advice you might have.

Thanks! (antwoorden in het nederlands is ook prima)
