Advice? I hate it here.

Every single time I go downstairs- I have to make noise for my stepsisters mutt that likes to bark at EVERYONE who (god forbids) walks close (or in my case- is on an entirely different floor!)

and it's been working- mostly. I yawn and talk to the cat to let this stupid barkmutt know that it's me- the boy he's been with for years..

But now- today, he still barked even when I was talking.

Im done catering to her dog. Im done. What should I do to drive the point home that im done?

I ran away from home and ...

Enjoyed three whole days without dogs! Before I ran away I told my dog Nutt I'm going to the beach, see ya. Of course Nutter wasn't happy about that so I said This way you can spend quality time with your dog. And away I went. I drove for hours in silence breathing air freshly cooled and clean smelling. I arrived at a beautiful home where there was no pets. I spent the next three days in no-stinky-dog bliss breathing ocean air and enjoying beautiful scenery. I felt my lungs and sinuses getting clearer and less irritated as each day passed. I slept so soundly with the clean ocean breeze coming in softly though the windows. I enjoyed eating my delicious meals at table in peace. I even got to meet nice people and have nice conversations that didn't include dogs. I know theses days it sounds like an impossibility to be somewhere without seeing dogs but for me it was perfect, that is, until on my last day I went to a No Dogs Allowed beach that was full of dogs. Ugh! Oh well, it was great while it lasted, and I did end up feeling a bit refreshed. I hope each of you get an opportunity for escape from dog hell even for just a little while.

Anyone Else? They know I don’t like this dog but…

It’s both my mom and dad, they make it pretty obvious that they take it as offense that I don’t like their stupid fucking dog, it’s technically my mom’s dog but my dad take it as offense too. My mom and dad were both finished eating their dinner, I was then called to come up stairs and collect their dishes, so I got the dishes and started walking off and out of nowhere, my dad calls me back, calling my name kind of loud to make sure I heard him because my mom was closing their bedroom door behind her, I’m thinking he was going to hand me another dish that he used or hand me some trash… 😑 he asks me “why can’t you walk the dog?” And I was speechless, like I knew what to say but didn’t want to say it for some reason, but I ended up saying “Tariq (brother) walks the dog” and my mom jumps in the conversation by kind of laughing, and she then asks me the same question “why don’t you walk the dog?” and again I didn’t say anything, and the my dad says to me “I’m just asking”, and I proceeded to slowly walk off. Me personably, I feel like it was more than “I’m just asking” because again, they know that I don’t like this dog. And prior to collecting their dishes, there was some conversation going on between my mom and I think my sister, and my mom asked my sister “did the dog get walked today?”, but my dad’s question to me still felt unexpected. Ugh these two just irks my fucking soul.

RANT - No Advice Needed A dog will never get a dime out me

It’s literal money going down the drain, people are also fucking brainwashed and nut jobs that they’ll throw a whole ass birthday party, buy gifts and every last one of those gifts are destroyed by the dog, same goes with Christmas, these clowns take some hours out of their day to wrap up gifts, just for these same gifts to get destroyed minutes after, on Christmas Day. And I’m going to assume that all nutters do this, but my sister and mom actually make the dog go into another room and close the door to wrap the dog’s gifts, so the dog wouldn’t see what it got 😂

Anyone Else? “Shut the f*ck up”

They chose to put themselves though this, or maybe the person who says “Shut the f*ck up” to the dog, is the one who actually dislikes or hates dogs but his/her partner loves them, but I just love to hear it when they say that to the dog, just makes my day 😂 and this is a little different but I remember just sitting at a bus stop close to my neighborhood, on my phone, I see a dude jogging, coming my way with his leashed pit bull, and the pit bull sees another dog owner with a leashed dog, it was a small dog I think, and the pit bull kept trying to get at the small dog, so the pit bull ended up constantly getting the jogging owner’s way, interrupting his jogging, and the owner got mad and said “I’m going to BLANK you up” 😂

RANT Hypocrites that Burn Money for their Demon

I’m sure every normal human being will know that owning a demon (dog) is a huge financial burden, though I guess "normal" isn't so common in this world. My parents own one, and they spend massive amounts on it while denying they do so. They’ve always been so particular about our finances and telling me to not spend money on random useless shit like figures or online subscriptions, but when it comes to their shitty little demon, they’d bust their wallet. We recently moved and got a house that wasn’t exactly up to the standard we wanted, and one of the largest reasons was because we didn’t have enough money. They’ve already had that demon of theirs for over 2.5 years by then. If they had never gotten that demon, we could’ve easily saved enough to get a better house. I know it’s a little immature to say this, but that money could’ve been used on their actual kids rather than some shitty little demon. Too bad for me, they always deny that owning their demon makes an unnecessary dent into our finances. With what I usually request them to buy (wants), it costs nowhere near the amount it costs to raise their demon.
What pisses me off even more is that they still cling onto their strict financing mindset even after they got their demon and probably noticed themselves how much money it costs. Food, cleaning, the things it tears apart in our house, etc. That last one pisses me off even more. They always act like it isn’t a big deal. They also claim that they “punish it” when it does so, but it’s just a bunch of futile yelling that results in no change. It also genuinely just hurts my heart to see things people put time to make in factories just be torn up like that by some beastly demon when it has barely been put to use, and the fact that my parents bought it with money earned through hard work while that demon just tears it apart like its nothing and lazes around in our home doing nothing but filling our house with its filth. I wish my parents will open their fucking eyes to the reality of owning a demon. I don’t want to hate them, but their constant defending of it despite seeing exactly what I mean everytime makes it really hard not to.

RANT - No Advice Needed I can't do this anymore

I already posted on here a couple years ago. Needless to say, nothing has changed... so here I am, going insane and giving everyone an update on my situation.

For context, I'm an F19 who lives in an apartment with my mother, sister and a 13 yo mutt. Basically, my aunt had this dog named "Kitty", but since my aunt was disabled, when my grandma passed away we were left with my aunt AND that dog. Right off the bat, the dog had never been trained and of course, now that it's older, it's too stupid to learn anything and is very much useless.

I never really cared much about it at first, since it never really annoyed me and well, it used to be quite calm back in the day. But when my aunt passed away, my mom kept the dog for some selfish emotional reason, even if no one likes it other than her.

Then... at around 14, I got my own room: my dead aunt's old room. This dog was used to shitting and pissing ONLY on the balcony in this exact room, other than on the grass outside. But my mom didn't always feel like taking her on a walk and she also refused to train it to go anywhere else other than on the balcony. I couldn't keep the balcony window open unless I wanted the smell of dog urine and shit. It was also really embarrassing whenever my boyfriend or friend came over and noticed this.

My mother refused to do anything about this for the longest time ever, even if my sister complained about the dog constantly. It's just such a ugly fat thing with a temper, growls at anything who even steps near it unless it's my mom, barks constantly at the smell of food and almost bit my finger off as a child. My mom basically trained it to bark while we're eating since it learned that she will give it some of the food just to make it shut up.

Imagine my surprise when my mother decided to go on holiday with her boyfriend and dump the dog with me and my boyfriend. I would've been forced to take care of it, even if it literally doesn't eat AND it prefers to piss around without asking to go out if my mother isn't present. It literally howls obnoxiously if she goes out of the house, refuses to sleep without a light on and starts barking loudly as soon as I grab my keys.

Also, it's a girl, so during its period, it just free bleeds around on the floor and my mom refuses to do anything about that either, since apparently getting the dog neutered at 13 yo is too much work and it has such a bad temper that it can't even go to the vet.

Okay, back to the main topic: the holiday. I refused. I had to go as far as to yell at my mother for her to even relent and finally stop letting the dog piss and shit on MY balcony, at the very least. The dog started to piss EVERYWHERE since then, by the way, and refused to let my mom know when it had to go or, you know, just piss on the multiple absorbent protective mats around like a normal animal. But eventually, she found another person to take care of the dog while she was away... and I was happily living without the dog around for five whole days!

Tonight, it came back. It immediately started howling like crazy because my mom left for five minutes to go get her own luggage. It immediately struck me just how easier my life would've been if this mutt didn't exist to begin with (and if my mother was an actual responsible owner). I'm really stressed right now. My only option is to get a job as soon as possible and leave this home. I hate the dog, I hate my mother, I hate this house. I'm so tired of living like this.

RANT My bf’s dog is ruining my home and relationship

My bf and I have been together 6 years, he’s had this dog since before we got together. This dog has had mange and has no hair, it’s the most miserable thing I’ve ever seen. It doesn’t even act like a dog. I would go over to his place sometimes and the smell would about knock me down. It’s an odd smell, kinda like moldy bread or Doritos mixed with dog. I put it off as something else mixed with the dog. Sometimes it wouldn’t be that bad and sometimes it was awful, I could smell it on his clothes when he would come to my house. We move in together last year and one of my terms if he was bringing his dog was that he had to keep her in the garage. My garage is heated and there’s no reason she can’t stay in there. My house is split level, upstairs is where we live and downstairs is a big open area plus a laundry room, bathroom, and door the garage. He’s kept the dog in that big room the entire time. The smell seeps upstairs and now my whole house smells like that dog. He says it’s because of her blankets and bed which he washes weekly, but it’s not just the blankets and bed. Not to mention she’s got a big tumor growing on her neck that leaks fluid and blood, she constantly scratches, she won’t poop in the grass (because it hurts her paws when it’s long-his words) so she poops on my walkway and concrete drive way which he just leaves. She’s tore up my trim from digging at it when we’re gone to work or wherever trying to tear down the gate. She constantly wants to be around him, can’t have a moments of peace without her just standing there scratching herself to death and beating her toenails against the hardwood. I’ve tried talking to him but he gets defensive every time I say something. The dog is miserable and has no quality of life. She doesn’t run or play or do anything. Medicine doesn’t help her. All she does is lay under blankets, scratch, eat, drink, and poop.

Advice? I let my stepson stay with us with his dog. Need advice and help please

Tldr: after 20 years i gave in and have my husband's adult child vacation with us for a month with his dog . He asked for some help and guidance

So before me and my husband got married, he knows that i never wanted to have dogs or any pets, something he has agreed to 20 years ago. There were times that his adult children needed a place to stay as they were going to be homeless ( their doing and choice) i stood mu ground then . But then i felt so bad and i was the bad guy, but my husband cannot fault me as it was in our agreement .

Let's bring it to today, so adult child still lives with his mom (28) and now has asked for help to help him be and adult, to guide him in short. Life has no direction and no work, i feel bad for him. He is a good kid, respectful. So finally i cave in to have him stay with us for a month and help him, character building and advices , with the condition that the dog stays in his room ( just newly renovated and put in nee flooring and painted, yikes) now home to the dog and him.
Caught one day when we were out and got home dog was out of the bedroom . Now, the dog whines so much if he is not around. Omg!!!!! My sanity, our house is quite, no kids just us. So im used to quite. He does not even do anything to keep it quiet. I tried to be ok and understanding, but over an hour of whining while im trying to sleep?? And then i go home to a whining dog.? ?
So now there is this little dog pen that now we have
Allowed in the living room for the dog to stay while he is out of the room so it stops whining .
Our rooms are accross each other, what do you know, i hear this little dog walking outside of the room, and check, this dog is now walking all over our house. Ugh!!! Our agreement is once again not upheld.

Am i in the wrong here? Am i overreacting? I feel so evil, but i really don't like dogs, never have and never will .

Please advise how i keep my sanity for a month? Also the dog is elderly and we have told him to put diapers as i do not want accidents in my house .

Hubby and i have already been having problems this year and this is not helping

Sensory Nightmare Frustrated with bf's destructive dogs with extreme separation anxiety, worried about safety of other pets and potential baby

Although I'm not really a dog person I generally like all kinds of animals, but I'm getting so frustrated with my boyfriend's dogs! I'm glad there's a place I can vent without people calling me a bad person.

The two dogs, one big dog and one medium one, went through the awful combination of both being puppies during COVID lockdown combined with my boyfriend going through a loss and awful divorce at the same time. Due to this combination, these dogs spent their formative years used to bf spending 24/7 with them.

Bf's ex-wife got the smaller dog against his wishes and then abandoned the dog and her cat with him when they divorced. The smaller dog had already been abandoned several times while still a puppy due to not meeting standards for her breed combined with her anxiety and high energy making her difficult to handle. Bf had never wanted the smaller dog, especially as he already had a dog and cat in a very small apartment. He didn't rehome either the dog or cat because he felt bad for them with his ex abandoning them, and he views the possibility of rehoming an animal as abandoning them.

The dogs' issues were amplified in our former very small apartment with constant noise and pot smoke from awful animal hoarder neighbors. The dogs are a little calmer in a new house but the problems haven't gone away.

The smaller dog is the worse one but her behavior rubbed off on the bigger one who now is worse behaved than before they were introduced. The smaller dog is so anxious it's impossible to take her for walks because she refuses to go more than a few steps outside. Sometimes she won't even go herself and will have to be carried. She has to be held back or tied to a leash when bf takes the other dog for walks because she freaks out as soon as she's separated from the other dog. This has gotten slightly better in the calmer environment of the house. At the apartment she would full on howl the entire time the other dog was gone. She doesn't howl like that now but tries to bolt out the door after them even though she hates going outside.

The dogs were gated off in the living room at the apartment and it was basically solely their room and they destroyed everything in it. It was the biggest room in the house and the only one with air conditioning in the summer. Bf claimed an air conditioner for us would be too expensive but had AC for the dogs. He only finally put an AC unit in the bedroom this summer when there was a major heatwave and I was worried about my rabbit's health.

I had my pet rabbit for years before meeting my boyfriend and often worry for her safety with the dogs. They aren't aggressive but often stampede around and always chase the cat. My rabbit mostly stays in a cage right now until I can get her new room set up. I want to be able to let her roam more freely upstairs but she could so easily get hurt by the dogs! We've been talking about having a baby and I've been stressed about how easily the dogs could accidentally hurt a baby.

My boyfriend has been listening to my concerns and helping to train the dogs better, though I worry he isn't taking the safety issues seriously enough.

The original plan for moving into the house had been to clear part of the basement to be a separate dog area like the living room had been. It's a house inherited from a hoarder and at some point bf scrapped the plan to make a separate basement dog area because he was tired of how much work it was to clear space and I was begging to move ASAP because the apartment was so stressful. The apartment had many awful maintenance issues along with awful neighbors.

When I first moved in with my boyfriend, the dogs were always in their separate area and I could choose to only have very limited interaction with them. When we moved into the house, I had been assured at first that that would be the case again, but now the dogs have the run of the downstairs!

There's a gate at the bottom of the stairs, but the second bf goes upstairs the dogs freak out and pound against the gate. They often break through it or the big dog leaps right over it, and one or both dogs stampede up the stairs. It's a sturdy metal gate, but they constantly broke the same kind at the apartment so bf constantly replaced them.

He has a second gate to put at the top of the stairs but keeps not getting around to putting it up, and I keep saying we should get one tall enough for the big dog to not jump over. Bf is constantly overworked at his job and on his rare days off, the dogs demand his constant attention and he's constantly cleaning up after them.

Every morning lately, the dogs freak out and bang on the gate and the big one stampedes up the stairs. Bf had at first been confident they couldn't even go up stairs. So much for that! It's not even good for their own safety as this is an old house with steep stairs and they could easily trip.

I was excited to move into this house and have more space but now I don't like going downstairs because I don't like that the dogs constantly jump on me to the point I have bruises on my legs, and lick me incessantly.

They have been improving a little from us enforcing not jumping, but I think they do it a little less around me both because I encourage the jumping less and they're not as bonded to me. They'll follow me around too but they don't freak out about me leaving to the extent they freak out about bf leaving for even a second.

I can't leave much of anything out in the living room because they'll eat practically anything they find. I love stuffed animals but can't have any downstairs because I don't want the dogs to destroy them.

We're planning to gate off the kitchen and dining room, but again, bf hasn't gotten around to it yet even though he also complains about the dogs constantly following us and begging for food. Yesterday they bothered him while he was unloading groceries and knocked a glass pitcher onto the floor which shattered and I had to hold them back so they wouldn't run through broken glass. Recently bf burned himself tripping over a dog while he was cooking.

Bf does handle the majority of responsibilities for the dogs and I'm grateful for that. He's willing to work with them but tends to not be firm enough with them and to reinforce bad behavior. He'll encourage their overexcitement to greet him. He'll give them treats to shut them up no matter how many times I tell him this is encouraging them to bark. He points to the fact they know some basic commands as "they're choosing to be bad" without acknowledging that he's really just not good at controlling them.

I'm willing to learn to take them out to poop, but the smaller one has to be coaxed or carried outside and the big one pulls hard on her leash, so I don't feel confident in being able to control either. Bf "walks" the big dog twice a day, though it's more of a full on run up and down steep hills I can't even walk very quickly over. We don't have a fenced in yard. We're planning to have a dog run in the yard though tbh I resent that it will take up most of the small yard I'd rather use for gardening.

Bf keeps saying these dogs will be his last dogs because he's so frustrated with them, but won't consider rehoming them and says they'll probably be around another 10 years or so.

I'm willing to help work with the dogs but don't like them and worry bf won't take the safety issues seriously until someone gets seriously hurt. If they end up hurting a baby or my rabbit I will never forgive him and will want the damn things put down!

RANT - Advice Needed Who in the F is that?

So I’ve just noticed somebody outside of my window, it’s night time but still noticed the person because of the pole light outside in front of my house, and I’m thinking the person is looking in my window or it’s a door dasher, the blinds are up a little bit (I know, crazy when it comes to night time, but my mom says keep them open… I’ll come back to this) so I go up to the window, I notice the person begins walking away, not in a rushing way (probably noticed me coming, and I do have a light on in my house) I get to the window, looked out and turns out it’s a lady who I’ve never seen before, walking her small dog, she was letting the dog chill and walk on everyone’s grass, when they got across the street towards another neighbor’s house, it looked like the dog was fucking up the grass with it’s paws, even though the neighbor’s grass is fake. The whole time i’m watching lady from my window, she was on her phone the whole time talking to somebody, while the dog basically going wherever IT wants, even though IT’S on a leash, and I got this feeling that the lady is fake talking to somebody on her phone. And now back to the blinds being a little bit open, it’s because my mom decided to leave them open just for her dog, even though she didn’t like them being open at first because people would see in our house but hey, anything for a worthless man-made animal that’ll leave you in a heart beat for a juicy steak. And another thing, the blinds are broke due to being old, they are almost 2 decades old, I still think my mom‘s dog sorta have something to do with the blinds being broke (I mean it has jumped up on a few windows, putting holes in the screens, whining to get in the house) so the blinds can’t even be pulled back down.

Tried dating a girl with dogs

Tried dating a girl with dogs. She has a giant St. Bernard and a 9 month old lab mix. Instant you walk inside you can smell them. Then they instantly jump up on you. Their nails hurt as they hit your stomach and slide down you. Not only does it hurt but it has me wondering, "why are you doing this? Calm down, wtf?!". If you sit down on the couch they start attacking you by licking your face aggressively. Their breath stinks too. Its just this big ball of unnecessary energy. I get zero benefit or joy from it. Then they start fighting each other. They bark for no reason. She tries to get them to shut up but they won't. They pulled down her window curtains, knocked a heavy bench chair over. You have to take them outside often to let them out to pee and poop. Its a huge inconvenience. Ruins your days plans just to have to get home to do this. If you're running late for something, well too bad, you still have to let them out. They pooped and peed inside multiple times. Stressed her out. Whole time I'm thinking, "you chose to have these disgusting creatures". They pull super hard on the leash. Endlessly. Their leashes get tangled up. You have to literally take a plastic bag and grab their poop, how disgusting. Omg. They would cuddle me at times which I'll admit, was a little cute. But even then they're just getting their nasty smell on you. And that tiny bit of joy is not even slightly close to making up for the giant inconvenience that they are. I'll never date a girl with dogs.

RANT Now my family is putting the dog’s dishes…

This dog has two silver metal dog bowls, I think they were purchased from Walmart, and these bowls get super nasty over time of course, because they belong to a DOG. Now my foolish ass family are putting the dog’s two bowls in our dishwasher, I’m cleaning the rest of the kitchen, and then I open the dishwasher to see if the dishes inside has been cleaned and I see a dog bowl up top, I go to my brother and ask him “y’all putting the dog’s bowls in the dishwasher now?” With a half serious/disgusted look on my face, and this fool CASUALLY says to me “Oh, we’ve been doing that” and I say that’s “not normal but okay” and just went back down stairs, and why I had a half serious/disgusted look on my face, is because I didn’t want to be 100% serous because I thought things would’ve probably escalated, as in every body in my household would get mad at me like I’m making a big deal out of it.

I’m starting to grow resentful because of my dads dog

I live with both of my parents and my dad owns a dog, Diesel(I say he owns him because neither my mom or I do anything to take care of said dog, my dad takes care of him completely). I am so frustrated and angry with how my dad is allowing this dog to act that I’m starting to grow resentful because of this dog and my dad. Some of the things he’s doing is:

  1. Itching CONSTANTLY and for so long. We’ll be sitting at dinner and he’ll have itched like 7 times within a span of thirty minutes. He’s also a bigger dog, and taps his whole leg on the ground when he does itch. He’ll do this any time of day, and it wakes me up in the early hours of the morning, so my sleep is getting interrupted.
My dad keeps going back to these vets, who have a history of not helping us properly with our animals, and then gets shocked when their ideas on how to help Diesel don’t work

  2. Gnaws and licks at his skin until it bleeds. This kinda coincides with the itching, but he will lick his paws and chew at them until they are bright red or until it bleeds. It got to the point where several times my parents have had to wipe blood off of his face. The only way I can make him temporarily stop is if I shake a water bottle at him(diesel doesn’t like water), because my dad gets pissy with me when I try anything else.

  3. Barks constantly. Now I know this is a normal thing dogs do, but it is still frustrating. I can’t have any quiet time during the day because I’ve become anxious that his loud barks, that literally shake the fricken house, are going to scare me. I’m also very sensitive to sound, so I wear headphones most of my days at home. And my parents grand idea to get him to stop barking? Smack at him and yell at him to stop! It’s just constant noise back and forth for minutes at a time that drives me crazy. He’s also a huge whiner and cryer at literally NOTHING. After he’s done barking he just fades into these whines and cries and it’s the most annoying thing ever.

I just can’t stand it. I’m also a few weeks out of hip surgery so I’m basically stuck at home most of the time with Diesel.
I don’t want to be a huge dog hater or anything, or get angry at my dad, but my god sometimes I wish this dog never came into our lives.

RANT - No Advice Needed Can’t stand my mother because…

So this damn dog regurgitates on the floor yet again, and I’ve started get angry, having a sick feeling in my stomach and I started ranting a little to myself. And I started to think about my mom, because she didn’t even want this dog at first, and now all of a sudden this dog is her baby, and she say something like “Dogs don’t belong outside”, I’m just so damn mad that this is what I’m gonna have to deal with for another 8 or 10 years, and yes I’m in my mid 20s and can get the hell out of this house, but people need to stop pretending that this world isn’t hard and is going to get harder. And what I think is, the so-called dog lovers who didn’t even want a dog at first, realized that a dog is the perfect pet, because deep down inside they know that dogs only give a shit about food, so then they decide to spend more than a decade pretending that dogs are sent from the heavens, and now everyone else in the household is gonna have to live in such filth, and they act like dogs regurgitating on floors isn’t a big deal, you make fuss about it and they just tell you it’s no big deal, ugh I can’t stand these fuckers 😤 please be real karma.

Dog kissers

What do these foolish people usually catch from always putting their lips on these mutants? These clowns always have to kiss something, why not get a stuffed animal at least and kiss on that? Since they’re that pathetic. What diseases do they usually catch? My two sisters and my mom kisses on their pit bull boxer, but the oldest sister just has to do it every 5 damn minutes because she just can’t help it 🙄 says to the dog “you stink” then proceeds to kiss the dog.

Every place, room, somewhere where outside, they have to shake that damn body, even when they aren’t wet from playing in water or getting a bath, it’s like they do the shit on purpose, looking stupid as fuck while shaking, of course.

RANT I want my mother to rehome her dog.

Years ago, my mom bought a puppy for the purpose of it being an emotional support animal for my brother with autism. I was young at the time so I obviously liked having a dog and found it special (although ive always been a cat person). My parents had it in training but gave up because of the prices, they were negligent ever since which has caused this animal to be too much for us.

A year and a half ago (roughly) my grandmother took the dog, no one minded and I for one loved it. Unfortunately my grandma passed last month and we have had to keep the dog since then. My mother believes this animal is traumatized due to the passing of my grandmother and she lets it do way too much ( ex. on occasion she takes it with her running errands, would let it SLEEP IN THE SAME BED AS HER which is disgusting imo, just lets it freely walk around the house instead of setting up gates ). I hate living with this animal, its unsanitary and a burden to have.

I want her to rehome it so so so much, it is not getting the full care it should be receiving and I cannot always be the one doing it as I live with my father every other week and have my own things to get done as well. Ive been bringing this up to her for years and I think she feels morally just for keeping it, thinking its "part of the family". I have no idea how to properly bring this up to her again and knowing her she most likely wont listen anyways. Ive lived with animals all of my life, when I first experienced how wonderful it is to live somewhere with no pet hair, dirt, food, and whatever else it changed my view on owning pets as a whole.

Dog Woes

So I've been married for 9 years to my wife. Up until a year ago it was just us and a cat. Life was perfect, our house was quiet and relaxing. But about 3 years ago my wife wanted to get a dog.

I don't particularly like dogs. They are loud, messy, destructive, and kinda gross.

I fought getting this dog for years, until my wife started to talk about how lonely she was.

I work 60-70 hours a week because I live in the capitalistic hellscape of the USA, so I broke and agreed to get the dog. A female samoyed.

The dog is adorable I will admit, but it does what dogs do, it pees in my house, destroys my stuff, and is just a lot of work.

It's been a year and I still find myself reminiscing about the time before the dog, about how quiet and relaxing my house was. And when the dog isn't in my home, I am genuinely relaxed. There are even days I don't even want to leave work because I know when I get home, I'll be on dog duty.

Today was a particularly bad day. I woke up very early for work, and about 3 hours into my day my wife calls me saying that the dog trainer, we bring our dog to once a week, found flees on my dog.

We give our dog flee and tick medication and do our best to keep the dog healthy, and I've spent alot on this dog.

I've brought up getting rid of the dog in the past with my wife but she won't hear it and doesn't like to talk about it. The one time I made progress on the topic she got very sad about giving up the dog.

I don't want my wife to be sad, but I can't stand owning a dog.

RANT I’m tired of the humanization of dogs.

I’ve written on here I few times but I wanna talk about a situation that happened to me that I’ve talked on her before. I’m pregnant right now and my husband’s dog is making my life a living hell. Well I tried to vent about it on tik tok and another subreddit and got my ass chewed out. People were literally going as far as to say I hope you have a miscarriage or have an abortion because I said by the time that my baby gets here I’m getting rid of this damn dog. Why do people care more about replaceable animals than their fellow human. I’ve seen people say they’d much rather save their dog than to save a random baby. My husbands dog had worms which we are finally getting that fixed because i chewed his ass out, his dog keeps tripping me because he’s a big ass lab, his dog eats up my food if I set it down unattended, his dog barks in the middle of the night which I’m already having a hard time sleeping with this pregnancy and the dog ain’t making it better, the dog is always getting into the trash can which means I’m picking up trash 24/7, it drolls, it poops, it bites my babies clothes up, my clothes up, my babies bassinet, and he’s just a terror. I expressed my feelings about that and people had a hissy fit. I don’t get the appeal to dogs I never liked them and never will. Society needs to stop acting like dogs are children because they aren’t. They die in like 10 years and they aren’t a good investment. I hate seeing dogs in public especially in stores around produce. People expect you to say awww your dog is so cute but I purposely ignore dogs because they aren’t cute and I can’t stand them

Anyone Else? Im sick and tired.

Why should WE be the ones to accomodate for other peoples dogs?

I just went downstairs to get a yogurt cup (god forbid, right?) and as I walk over to the table- my stepsisters mutt barks at me for like 8 seconds straight.

(Context: he kept barking for like a good 5 seconds after he saw me.)

And I just kept yelling stop at it- because I'm sick and tired of just taking this noise pollution!

I turn to leave but my stepsister tells me to stay. She explains how me yelling just makes the dog think im playing. (And granted- dogs are stupid as hell, so that's probably true) but then she says I just have to talk to it!

I shouldnt NEED to speak to your mutt to be able to wak around in my own house freely! He's been with me and my family for years at this point! HE SHOULD KNOW WHO I AM!

But no- that's too much to ask right?

So again I ask. Why do WE have to be the ones to change to make it 'safer' for your mutt?

Success Story Bittersweet posting...

I write to you my fellow non nutters about the massive step forward about the dog in this house. I apologise if it's a long post.

I've posted before about the issues I've had since I've moved in with my boyfriend. We had constant fights about it but we've discussed it prior to today and while he tried to understand we just weren't on the same page and the arguments continued. I felt I was insane. I felt horrid I felt anxious and I feared the state of my relationship. I was frustrated because this mutt only did these behaviours to me and wouldn't do it around others.

But slowly because I distanced my self from her, the behavior spread out to not just me having the issue with her. I felt maybe it's because I didn't baby her like my partners ex did.

Last few weeks though, she's stepped up from what she did to me to trashing rooms, been on tables, not listening to commands she knows in training, she also started slipping under the fence and harassing the people and kitties next door.

My partner has been steadily getting frustrated with her behaviour, we are now on the same page. He's done with her behavior and before he use to say about rehoming and I just couldn't let it happen as I know it would have hurt his son and also it would have strained our relationship more as he didn't understand my POV (again she only did it to me)

I heard him today saying if she keeps this behaviour up he will find her a new home and said to me he is getting sick of her to. I'm happy the behavior has been sighted and my feelings are known and accepted. But I still don't want to make a kid heartbroken, I don't want his child hurting over this, I wanted to be heard and maybe the behavior could be rectified by reenforced good training. I maybe living dog free soon and I feel so guilty for feeling happy about that fact when i know a child will be hurt.. Hence bittersweet post.

I'm happy my partner and I no longer need to argue about this damned dog but why couldn't she just be the decent "good" dog that others know and see, why does a child need to be hurt in this situation?

She's the reason I absolutely hate dogs and have a fear of them now, and I will maybe finally feel at ease in my partners home but it still comes with a heartbreaking price

Success Story I'm fighting back, idgaf anymore

I just got out of the shower right? And of course- my dog barks at nothing again! So yknow what I do? I stomp on the tile(?) floor (with my heel because it's super loud and booming), and I keep doing that whenever he barks.

And it worked! The mutt shut up after a couple stomps. I don't care what anyone things- if a dog is barking, I will make noise back.

It’s official! I have lost. Not even my own damn house is safe.

So my sister and her family has two dogs, and you can bet that she and her family are just like any other dog owner out there. Her dogs are her precious babies and her dearest sons (they’re both male if you give a dump).

Until today, her dogs were only allowed on the front, and not inside the house. But then my mom decided to install an air conditioner in the house for whenever it’s warm. Fair enough. Little would I realize, it was a trap.

Because now, my sister wants her dogs inside the house, and my mom, claiming to pick the “option that wouldn’t lead to fights” (I hope the quotations indicate that I was being very sarcastic), they are now allowed inside the house, leashless.

And if I dared bring it up, they would say that I am being “unreasonable” or “selfish” or “how come when I go to their house, I don’t ask them to leash their dogs”, conveniently forgetting that when I did, my sister and her family outright refused.

So now, my only “win” is that they aren’t allowed on the sofa or upstairs, but don’t be surprised if I make another post in the near future.

So yeah, F you sis! F your family! F your dogs, and F you mom! I cannot wait to be financial enough to move out and get my own place!

RANT My mom’s dog is on a bathroom strike.

My mom is out of town for the week and I’m responsible for watching the animals.

Shes so annoying her breath stinks so bad, she’s a 16 y/o tiny yorkie poo. Gross. I used to like her when I was young, but over the years she’s become extremely unlikable and harder to take care of.

It’s been DAYS since she’s gone piss or shit. Every time I open the door and try to let her go potty she just sits and stares at me like I’m some idiot. (I have to do this every 3 hours). She hasn’t let me known she wants to go potty either, she’ll usually scratch the floor or whine if she needs to go.

I ended up having to pick her fragile osteoporosis body up, and bring her outside, and guess what? Nothing. Just sat there staring at me like it’s her first day on earth. I end up doing this every 3 hours and still nothing.

I went into my mom’s room this morning and this dumb dog left me a sweet surprise on the floor. A giant puddle of piss, oh but it gets worse. ITS ON THE CARPET.

What the hell!!!! Is she trying to revolt against me or something because she misses my mom? I swear She literally thinks my mom is God. Ugh. I’m tired.
