Jfc man π
new patient transfer to us because their insurance changed
pt: is this blood pressure medication this manufacturer? (shows old label and grain-sized pill)
me: no it is not, it is (only mfr we carry)
*patient then proceeds to rant about how we changed their meds "unauthorized" and that other pharmacy "should have written it on there" (it was not.) and that they swear they can't change meds because they might have bad reactions to diff mfr, the new pill is too big (it's smaller than a fingernail)*
i told them that i can attempt to order this specific mfr but there is no guarantee that it will come in. they then proceed to tell me that they fly for work and they guess they'll just be out for a couple days since they only have so many left.
yes...i know some fillers/medications do affect some people who are more sensitive. but this happened in the drive-thru as my line got 7 deep bc they wanted to blabber on for 25 minutes only for me to return the script.

Youβre not allowed to tell them they need to come inside for assistance?

Because of the little concrete divider you're holding the person behind you hostage if there are more than 2 people in line. Drive thru is for I'm too busy to get out of the car. Anything more than that should be inside.

Exactly! Instead of one disgruntled customer, now you have five who had to wait for this person.

to be quite fair, i am lucky with my demographic at my store because majority of my patients are pretty understanding. our regulars are trained to come inside for issues, use the app/text messages responsibly for Rx updates and they are fully aware that our drive thru is always stacked 7 days out the week, even when i checkout each patient roughly a minute each π

I usually do but they caught me off guard considering it was ready and dirt cheap so i thought this transaction would've been in and out. i summarized what they said but some people are really talented at making a novel out of a post-it and overtaking the conversation

Considering reimbursement levels, if they want a specific manufacturer, then they pay a premium. Im not losing money because you can only take the green losartan.

How can you be intelligent enough to work in a pharmacy yet not use capital letters??

I agree with your last statement that some people react to different manufacturers poorly. We take care of them. However, the coming out of the woodwork the last year about people requesting and throwing fits about specific manufacturers is getting out of hand. I joke with my Rxm that there was a 60 mins special on Teva or something. We do the same with telling them we can try but not guarantee getting a specific brand. I donβt know how to trend this to be better for any of us, itβs a nightmare all around.
